He was deeply unwilling to accept it. Being humiliatingly defeated by Ye Xiwen before everyone was simply an utter disgrace to him. Especially after Ye Xiwen went a step further and defeated Qing Mo, he had completely become a byword for overestimating himself.
Even Qing Mo had been no match for him, let alone a mere Nether King.
