Bang!
The heavy body crashed onto the mountaintop. Fortunately, the platform had been deliberately leveled beforehand; otherwise, such a massive body would have had a difficult time landing.
The Frost Flood Dragon's head was enormous and imposing. Its deep dragon eyes shimmered with sapphire-like light, revealing intelligence and joy. Its dragon horns curved upward from both sides of its forehead, sharp and hard. Its mouth was tightly closed, yet its pointed fangs were still visible.
"Sogolian, you're here."
As the Planet Level female flood dragon licked the transparent mucus from her newly hatched child, she spoke to the Frost Flood Dragon Sogolian with joy in her voice.
Joy filled Frost Flood Dragon Sogolian's eyes, though its voice remained dignified. "Melani, how many children successfully hatched this time?"
It was no wonder it asked. The Frost Flood Dragon race was naturally poor at reproduction. Since Sogolian could remember, the number of flood dragons in the entire Frost Mountain Range had never exceeded thirty. Even after it reached adulthood and broke through to Star Level, breeding vigorously still failed to increase the clan's numbers.
Melani's gaze dimmed slightly, and her joy faded somewhat. "Only one child. The other suddenly died just as it was about to break out of its shell."
Though Sogolian had long been mentally prepared, rage still filled its heart when it heard the news confirmed. It could not understand the reason. Why did offspring that had been incubating perfectly well die at the moment of hatching? If it had only happened once, it could be attributed to chance, but in truth, this had already happened six or seven times!
"Roar, don't be sad. This is the curse the universe has placed upon us." Sogolian comforted its mate. "I'll have Caesar and Molenta capture prey for their younger brother." As it spoke, it licked the hatchling's skin a bit, showing how much it valued the child.
The newborn hatchling was tiny, less than a meter long, yet its aura had already reached Apprentice First Order. Its blue-ribbon-like tail was long and powerful, light and graceful. The end of its tail gradually narrowed into a sharp tip, like a keen blade already revealing its edge.
Looking at the hatchling, which had just opened its eyes and was curiously examining the world, a trace of tenderness flashed through Sogolian's imposing vertical pupils. "Melani, take the child to rest in the lake. You've worked hard during this time." Melani was not its only mate. In fact, to expand the Frost Flood Dragon clan, aside from its direct offspring Caesar and Molenta, who had mates of their own, it had taken every other female flood dragon as a mate.
In a sense, Sogolian had become somewhat obsessed, driven mad by the clan's reproduction.
Melani nodded, opened her mouth, gently picked up the hatchling, and leaped into the air, flying directly down the mountain. The hatchling in her mouth did not struggle. Melani naturally made her offspring feel close to her. The little one stretched out its head, constantly observing the surrounding clouds and mist, the trees rushing past below, filled with curiosity about this new world.
Roar~~
Roar~~
Sogolian withdrew its line of sight from the flood dragon mother and child, raised its neck, and let out two loud roars in another direction.
Roar—
Roar—
The next moment, the surfaces of two smaller lakes at the foot of the mountain on the other side of the towering peak suddenly exploded. Countless sprays and waves surged up, reflecting rainbow colors beneath the sunlight. One flood dragon had a blue-white body covered in scattered cyan spots. This was Sogolian's eldest son, Caesar. The other, smaller flood dragon was pure blue, its scales carrying the same dreamlike starry blue as its father Sogolian. This was Molenta.
Caesar was larger, nearly eighty meters long, with the strength of Planet Level Sixth Order. Molenta was only a little over sixty meters long, yet it possessed Planet Level Eighth Order strength! A demonic beast's power was not determined entirely by its size. Clearly, Molenta's bloodline was purer and more similar to Sogolian's. Indeed, when the two flood dragons landed before Sogolian, the gaze Sogolian cast upon Molenta was noticeably gentler.
"Caesar, Molenta, your younger brother Nathaniel has been born. For the coming days, you will be responsible for providing him with sufficient demonic beast meat." Sogolian gave the newborn hatchling a name on the spot, meaning "strong son of frost."
Unlike Xu Yang, who had crossed over and knew nothing, Sogolian had lived for more than four thousand years since its birth. It had long absorbed the basic knowledge and racial inheritance flowing through its bloodline. From the standpoint of maintaining basic bodily functions alone, there was no real difference between eating ordinary beasts and eating demonic beasts. It was merely the difference between being full after one demonic beast or after ten ordinary beasts!
But Sogolian never allowed its hatchlings to consume ordinary beasts, because the knowledge in its bloodline told it that doing so would severely slow their growth! The energy contained within demonic beasts could accelerate the hardening of a hatchling's scales, the growth of its bones, and even improve its cultivation speed. Ordinary beasts could not do that. The only thing they could provide was enough food to keep the hatchlings from starving to death... With such a comparison, how could Sogolian allow its hatchlings to eat ordinary beasts?
"Don't worry, Father. I'll catch the strongest demonic beasts for my younger brother," Caesar immediately promised. Its two whiskers drifted through the air like rippling water, making for a beautiful sight.
"Me too." Molenta, coiled atop the platform, had eyes as pure as the starry sky as it responded.
Sogolian nodded lightly in satisfaction, then seemed to recall something and instructed the brothers, "Go east. Do not hunt along the West Coast for the time being. The Illusion Sea Lamp Mother seems to be advancing again. It is stirring up raging waves along the West Coast and capturing demonic beasts in great numbers."
Caesar and Molenta's hearts tightened at those words. The Illusion Sea Lamp Mother was one of the absolute overlords of the Frozen Sea. Even their father, Sogolian, was far from being its match... One of its tentacles alone exceeded a hundred thousand meters. Though they had never seen it, merely imagining it sent chills through their hearts. If Planet Level beings like them encountered the Illusion Sea Lamp Mother, their fate would likely be no different from that of ordinary beasts when they encountered them.
"Your children will remember."
"Mhm. Go. As long as you stay far from the coast, there won't be any problem."
After giving his instructions, Sogolian rose and flew toward the lake at the foot of the mountain. Now that it was already Star Level, how could it personally hunt for hatchlings? Not only would that be beneath its status, but it could also easily arouse the suspicions of other clans. Thus, unless something important happened, it generally remained within its own territory.
"Let's go, Molenta." Caesar's back rippled as it took the lead and flew toward the high altitude.
Molenta leisurely stretched its body and followed into the air. "Big Brother, wait for me!" Though it was stronger than Caesar, the Frost Flood Dragon clan had few members. Caesar had raised and cared for it when it was young, so the two had an excellent relationship, like brothers and father and son.
Riding clouds and mist, they sped like lightning.
The enormous figures of the two brothers cast two massive shadows across the ground, sending all the beasts fleeing in terror.
