At the Magic Research Institute, Murphy settled Patrick and the other patients in. After lifting the Stunning Spell from several members of the Muggle Security Team whose conditions were less serious, he learned the broad outline of what had happened.
Late last night, more than thirty fully transformed werewolves had suddenly appeared near Patrick's lakeside villa.
Driven by a particularly large werewolf, they had attacked the villa. The security team had put up fierce resistance, but the werewolves' fur offered formidable protection, and their exceptional healing ability made them difficult to kill with Muggle firearms.
Their speed and strength far exceeded those of ordinary humans. Combined with the terror and confusion of suddenly confronting such monsters, this had immediately plunged the Muggle Security Team into a desperate battle.
Almost instantly, they had lost three of their comrades. Then the werewolves had broken into the villa and begun slaughtering people.
They had bitten almost everyone. Several more security team members had been killed in the process, and all the survivors had suffered severe injuries.
Patrick had tried to hide Audrey and Ares, but failed. The particularly large werewolf had keen hearing and discovered Audrey and Ares hidden in a cupboard. He had injured Audrey and taken Little Ares away before the Muggle police arrived.
Abducting human children and turning them into werewolves was Greyback's twisted pastime.
But as a Muggle child, Ares had very little chance of surviving a bite.
He had to find him immediately.
Murphy called Rita Skeeter.
