Murphy met Boris in the visitors' area.
Security at the Western Mansion was extremely tight. The underground research facility was strictly off-limits, and even the mansion aboveground admitted no one without an invitation. It was divided into several areas, and even guests invited by the owner could only stay in the visitors' area, with no access to the others.
Boris had only been allowed in because Murphy had previously shown the guards his photograph and told them he might visit.
"How is Mariana?" Murphy asked as soon as he saw Boris.
"She's recovering in the hospital. I'm planning to bring her home in a few days." At that, he looked at Murphy. "Does your offer still stand?"
"Of course," Murphy said.
"You can have Mariana stay here," Murphy said. "It's very safe."
"All right." Boris nodded. "As for my job, what exactly do I need to do?"
"I'll take you to the laboratory in a bit. Cooperate with them on a few examinations. You may need to do those regularly, but just follow their instructions."
"Your main task will be learning how to run a technology company."
"First, you'll need to familiarize yourself with the Umbrella Corporation. I'll prepare the information for you. Once you're more or less ready, I'll introduce you to someone. He's my partner in the Muggle world. He doesn't know my true identity, but he's a very capable manager. I'll alter his memories, replacing every memory of me with you."
"Then you can continue working with him to run the Umbrella Corporation. Of course, you won't need to make any major decisions most of the time. Just think of yourself as my assistant."
"Perhaps you could tell him your true identity. Aren't you partners? Don't you trust him?" Boris asked.
