In five seconds, the water buffalo leader's health bar instantly dropped by one segment.
Its DPS reached 1,000 per second!
Once the skill effect ended, Kurumi again used her clone to distract the lesser monsters. Her main body dodged while attacking the boss. Whenever she had Third Bullet available, she waited until she had consumed enough Time Value, then used First Bullet and Third Bullet together.
And so the cycle continued.
Ten minutes later, the boss still had 70% health remaining.
It could have been lower, but Sunlight Absorption restored far too much health. After she had knocked its health down by 50%, a single Sunlight Absorption brought it back up to 80%.
"Roar! (My underlings, appear!)"
The water buffalo leader summoned another three lesser monsters.
There were now six lesser monsters on the field!
The six monsters severely restricted her room to dodge. No matter how fast she was, she could not avoid everyone's barrage of spells.
One clone failed to dodge in time and scattered into a heap of fragments.
Only one clone remained.
Kurumi could only work with her other clone to kill three of the lesser monsters, keeping the number of monster units on the field at four.
"Roar! (Come forth, my underlings!)"
Unable to hit Kurumi with its attacks, the water buffalo leader could only keep summoning more underlings.
-480!
-240!
-500!
It took five minutes to clear out all the lesser monsters, and the boss's health naturally regenerated to 85%.
Kurumi used First Bullet and Third Bullet again, unleashing a furious barrage on the boss once more.
-260!
-500!
-261!
Time Value was being consumed at a terrifying rate. Even with four monster units on the field continuously providing Time Value, Kurumi still found it insufficient.
At this point, all her skills had entered cooldown. Kurumi failed to dodge in time, and a water column struck her.
-1206!
Her health bar instantly dropped by a third.
The prolonged battle had left Kurumi somewhat mentally fatigued, and she had failed to evade it.
Five minutes later, the boss had 60% health remaining.
By then, the sky was gradually darkening.
The water buffalo boss could no longer use Sunlight Absorption.
Thirty minutes later, the boss had 40% health remaining.
Forty minutes later, the boss had 20% health remaining.
"Moo! (Forest Link!)"
The surrounding trees gave off a faint green glow, and the boss's health rose back to 30%.
"Moo! (Forest Stealth!)"
The house-sized water buffalo leader's skin turned green all over, seemingly blending into the surrounding environment.
"Trying to run?!"
Kurumi raised an eyebrow.
Without any means of detection, if the boss turned invisible and fled, Kurumi truly had no way to stop it.
But City of Eating Time kept sending her notifications: Time Value +4, Time Value +4...
Kurumi knew that the boss had not left. It had merely hidden somewhere, perhaps waiting for a killing blow.
Kurumi warily scanned her surroundings.
The next moment, Kurumi felt the space around her freeze again.
"Moo! (Charge!)"
A massive figure instantly appeared before her.
Kurumi could not react in time and was rammed by the boss.
-1206!
At the same time, she was stunned for 3 seconds.
In these three seconds, even if the buffalo only attacked once per second, it would be enough to empty Kurumi's health bar.
Kurumi hurriedly unleashed her final life-saving skill. "Time Gun: Charge! Zafkiel!"
A massive golden clock appeared behind her.
Kurumi set her respawn point behind the buffalo boss.
Two seconds later, Kurumi reappeared at full health.
She had also gained a debuff that reduced all attributes by 50% for ten minutes.
Now, even Kurumi herself could no longer break through the buffalo boss's defense.
She could only wait until the death debuff vanished after ten minutes before attacking again.
Fortunately, without sunlight, the buffalo boss could not use Sunlight Absorption either. Otherwise, ten minutes would have been enough for it to restore its health to 60%.
Kurumi pulled herself together and relied on Second Bullet and the City of Eating Time to evade all kinds of attacks.
Ten minutes later, the boss's health had recovered to 40%.
Kurumi used First Bullet and Third Bullet once more.
-260!
-500!
-261!
Twenty minutes later, the boss had only 20% health remaining.
Twenty-five minutes later, the boss had only 10% health remaining.
Thirty minutes later, at last, a gunshot rang out. The enormous boss collapsed, and the lesser monsters it had summoned vanished as well.
"Ara~ It's finally over. I'm exhausted..."
Only when she saw the ground glittering with the light of gold coins did Kurumi finally let out a sigh of relief. To defeat this boss, she had used everything available to her, barely managing to kill this field boss far above her level.
Checking the time, she saw that killing this boss had taken a total of one hour and ten minutes.
If not for all the monster-grinding experience from her previous life, she would never have been able to maintain such intense concentration for so long.
"Ding— You killed the Silver-ranked monster Verdant Water Buffalo Leader while 16 levels below it. Experience +(3200*16)." "Congratulations, your level has risen to Level 17 (Experience 32%)." "Ding— The Adventurer's Guild has a rare quest to kill the Verdant Water Buffalo Leader. The Adventurer's Guild has learned that you killed it. After returning to the city, you may visit the Adventurer's Guild to claim your reward."
A string of game notifications popped up.
Reaching Level 17 was within expectations.
But this Adventurer's Guild thing... she could claim the reward without accepting the quest? That was unusual...
Next, Kurumi began inspecting the buffalo boss's drops. With the first kill bonus and the level-gap bonus, the boss had dropped a great many items.
Gold Coins: 53
Silver Coins: 1063
White Equipment: 11 pieces
Blue Equipment: 5 pieces
Purple Equipment: 2 pieces
Red Item Fragment: Forest Heart.
Red equipment?
An ordinary field boss could even drop red equipment? This...
Kurumi looked at the Forest Heart's attributes.
Forest Heart Fragment (1/4) Item Quality: Legendary Effect One (Recognition of the Forest): Monsters living in forests will be less hostile toward you. When attacked by forest-type monsters, damage taken is reduced to 80% of its original amount. Effect Two: Locked Effect Three: Locked Effect Four: Locked Item Description: One part of the Elf Saintess Set. You must collect the other three fragments to obtain the complete Forest Heart.
This Elf Saintess really had it out for me, didn't she?
The item's effects were extremely powerful, but Kurumi still grumbled.
Forest-type... elves themselves counted as forest-type too, right? This item even guarded against its own people.
Hehe, that wasn't bad. If she fought elves in the future, her chances of surviving would be higher.
As for the other equipment, it was useful in the sense that its attributes were powerful, but useless in the sense that the average player level was only 12 right now. It would take at least another month before anyone could equip it.
Forget it. She would toss it to Mop God of War and see if she wanted it. If not, she would put it up for auction.
