I Traveled to Douluo and Split into Five People
Author: Pen Ink Blade Edge
Synopsis:
I traveled through time, but I split apart.
My soul split into five parts.
After awakening my martial soul, I arrived in the Gray Mist Space.
"What is this feeling?"
"Could this be the Nine-Nine Flow? Hahahaha! Wouldn't this tiny Douluo World be ours for the taking?"
"Quick! Share your abilities with me, I want to..."
"What? You're in Douluo too?!"
Wait!
Why were the four of you living comfortably while I was a slave?!
Five people, divided among five factions: Clear Sky Sect, Seven Treasures Sect, Blue Lightning, Spirit Hall, and a slave of the Zhu Family. One for each—hehehe...
Slave

Clink, clatter. Rustle, rustle.
Several people were walking back and forth.
Zhou Xuefeng suddenly opened his eyes. He remembered how he had been smashed into tomato paste back then—spinning, jumping, eyes wide open, before finally splattering into a puddle. It was rather regrettable.
He did not reject the idea of traveling through time. If anything, he had been looking forward to it.
In his original world, he could barely see any hope in life. If he had possessed the courage, he would have deleted his account and started over long ago. Becoming another achievement on the records of time-traveling trucks was an unexpected blessing.
"Douluo..."
When he learned the name of this world, Zhou felt extremely uneasy. After all, this was a world where one's entire life could be decided at the age of six. However, after discovering that the Buddha's name had not yet spread here, he calmed down again.
If that Tang fellow could become a Buddha, why couldn't Zhou?
As long as he had Innate Soul Power when his martial soul awakened, he could cultivate.
Then there was hope!
"Three Pure Ones, Nüwa, Hongjun Daoist Ancestor, Five Direction Heavenly Emperors, Haotian God, Tathagata Buddha, Guanyin... please bless me. Whoever blesses me, Little Zhou will definitely build temples and establish shrines for you in the future, offering you abundant worship..."
Ever since turning three, Zhou Xuefeng had recited that prayer every morning after waking up, hoping they might cast even the slightest glance his way.
Now, the day of his martial soul awakening was not far away.
He hoped to awaken a somewhat powerful but not excessively overpowered martial soul, one that could allow him to escape his current status.
When he first arrived, he had assumed he was an ordinary commoner. Yet after turning three and shedding the confusion of infancy, he discovered that he was a child born into servitude in the Zhu Family of the Netherworld Duke of the Star Luo Empire—not a child of household servants, but a child of slaves.
The lowest class of all.
Children of household servants at least had a certain degree of freedom. In the future, they could inherit their mother's or father's position and gain some standing within the Duke's Mansion. Slaves, however, could be ordered around at will, their lives and deaths controlled by others. The mother of this body had been beaten to death by the Duke's Mansion's steward. As for his father, he did not know.
The only reason he had survived until now was because the steward had ignored him, leaving him to be managed and fed collectively alongside a group of children. Zhou Xuefeng had named himself, continuing to use the name from his previous life. Here, the steward had called him Zhu Seventeen.
Having experienced a society of freedom and democracy, he naturally could not endure this life of being treated like livestock. In his previous life as a corporate drone, there had at least been a layer of hypocritical pretense. Here, bloody reality constantly assaulted the mind.
Martial soul awakening was Zhou Xuefeng's only hope of escaping this identity.
"Seventeen, Seventeen, get up."
Awakened by a shove, Zhou Xuefeng opened his eyes. It was Zhu Da, the oldest among their group of children. He was fourteen years old, possessed the Rusty Knife martial soul, and had no Soul Power.
Climbing out of his sleeping spot, Zhou Xuefeng went outside to wash up. He had no fondness whatsoever for these people.
The oppression among slaves was even more direct than the bullying from the young masters and misses or the household servants above them. Zhu Da relied on being older, taller, and stronger to order the youngest children to do his work. That alone would have been bad enough, but he even stole their food.
Not getting enough to eat was unbearable.
Before long, Zhu Da had woken all the other children. Including Zhou Xuefeng, there were six children of age to awaken their martial souls. They gathered in the courtyard and waited to be summoned for the awakening.
Since it was an awakening within the family, they naturally would not invite people from Spirit Hall to conduct it.
The Hell Spirit Cat concerned the very foundation of the Star Luo Empire's imperial family. As for the Martial Soul Fusion Skill, the Hell White Tiger, all information that needed to be sealed away had to remain under their own control.
The candidates to be matched between this generation of the Zhu Family and Dai Family had not yet been fully decided. They would rely on these awakening results to make the decision, making it even more impossible for Spirit Hall to interfere.
Of course, Zhou Xuefeng, being a slave, did not know much about this. He was merely making deductions based on stories he had read before. He was also unclear about the exact era, knowing only that it was not the age when the Shrek Seven Devils became gods.
After waiting idly for more than an hour, until the morning dew had vanished, a man dressed as a courtyard guard appeared at the entrance and spoke.
"Follow me."
Zhou Xuefeng was the first to follow. He could no longer wait. Whether it meant life or death, he wanted the answer sooner.
Following the guard, they passed through a side gate and crossed the front courtyard of the Duke's Mansion.
A little girl approached from ahead. She was as delicate as a doll and round as a pearl, with two maids beside her. Judging from her expression, she seemed pleased. The guard immediately stopped. Though the road was clearly wide enough, he stepped aside and bowed.
Only after the three of them had gone far away did he continue walking.
"Remember that young lady clearly. She is Miss Zhu Zhuyun, the eldest daughter of the Duke's Mansion. You must never offend her!"
So it was Zhu Zhuyun!
Zhou Xuefeng silently calculated the current point in time.
Judging by Zhu Zhuyun's appearance, she was not very old yet...
Zhu Zhuyun was seven years older than Zhu Zhuqing, and Zhu Zhuqing seemed to be nearly a year younger than Tang San?
Tang San seemed to have been born in January of Douluo Calendar 2631, so this should be...
Douluo Calendar 2623 or 2624?
No, no, I calculated based on their birth dates. Then it should be around 2627 or 2628?
There was still time! There was hope! As long as I have Innate Soul Power and obtain those opportunities, I can become a Buddha or an ancestor too!
Reviewing Tang San's opportunities after arriving in Douluo, the most important three, in order, were the External Soul Bone, the Eight Spider Lances; the Immortal Herbs of the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well; and the Vast Sea Cosmic Shroud, the Heart of the Sea God. As for the others, no one else could scheme for the Mysterious Heaven Treasure Record and Hundred Interpretations of Hidden Weapons Tang San had brought from the Tang Sect in his previous life. The attention of the Asura God King was also uncertain.
The result of his martial soul awakening chilled half of Zhou Xuefeng's heart, sinking all his expectations to the bottom of the sea.
"How could it be Blue Silver Grass?! Why Blue Silver Grass?!"
Zhou Xuefeng did not possess the bloodline of the Blue Silver Emperor, so his martial soul was merely ordinary Blue Silver Grass.
The only consolation was that he possessed level-two Innate Soul Power and could cultivate. Yet with this martial soul and innate level, he would receive no support from the Duke's Mansion. Without resources, at most he could cultivate to become a Soul Elder. That would be the end. The Duke's Mansion was not a charity. There was no reason for it to invest resources and effort into researching the path of development for a universally acknowledged trash martial soul.
Even Yu Xiaogang, who was bent on proving himself, probably would not be interested in Blue Silver Grass with level-two Innate Soul Power.
Without the Duke's Mansion's attention, it would have been fine if he could cultivate on his own. Yet even that was impossible. Zhou Xuefeng was a slave.
Even with Soul Power, he would merely become a slave with Soul Power. And one with the trash martial soul Blue Silver Grass at that.
What kind of training could he receive?
Not much, most likely.
He did not have the Mysterious Heaven Skill, which could cultivate "Innate Full Soul Power" even in a state of malnutrition.
"...Seventeen, Seventeen! I'm calling you! Are you deaf?"
"Stop standing around! What's so interesting about that worthless Blue Silver Grass of yours? Come split this firewood for me, then wash those clothes!"
Slowly turning his head to look at Zhu Da, Zhou Xuefeng felt a blaze ignite in his heart. It burned through his entire body, making him feverish and tremble faintly.
Split Apart
The destruction of his final hope cast Zhou Xuefeng into darkness.
Should he continue living as a slave, hoping that one day the Zhu Family might generously show him enough kindness to grant him a decent death? Or should he simply seek a swift end and die?
If he could see hope, enduring the life of a slave would not have been impossible.
But he could not see any hope.
The buzzing sound was unbearably irritating, making his head feel as though it were splitting apart and filling him with agitation. Zhou Xuefeng silently stood and walked toward Zhu Da.
Zhu Da sneered and looked proudly at the other children. See? So what if he has Soul Power? With a trash martial soul, doesn't he still have to listen to me? All of you had better behave yourselves!
The other children had not awakened Innate Soul Power.
Turning around, Zhu Da pointed at the pile of firewood and spoke to Zhou Xuefeng.
"Over there... Aah!"
His eyes suddenly bulged wide. Clutching his groin, he slowly dropped to his knees, tears streaming from his eyes and cold sweat pouring down his face. He wheezed but could not utter a single clear word.
Zhou Xuefeng slowly lowered his foot, then punched him in the head and knocked him to the ground. He leaped onto Zhu Da's back and began stomping wildly.
"If you won't let me live freely, then none of you will live well either! Die, die, die, die, die!!!"
What had been suppressed was not merely the slavery of these past few years, but also his memories of being a corporate drone in his previous life. He should have been in the prime of his youth, carefree and spirited, yet he had spent every day ceaselessly struggling to survive. His life as a slave had been the detonator that lit the explosives.
Zhou Xuefeng's vision went black, and he lost consciousness.
The courtyard guard who had previously taken them to awaken their martial souls slowly withdrew his hand and looked toward the other children.
"What happened?"
The children rushed to explain, talking over one another as they described what had just occurred.
"Tsk."
The guard crouched down and checked Zhu Da's condition. His spine had been crushed. A high-level healing Soul Master might have been able to heal him, but there was no need to waste resources hiring one specifically for a slave.
He then turned to look at the unconscious Zhou Xuefeng.
He had quite a good wolfish nature.
Then he reached out and snapped Zhou Xuefeng's neck.
Unfortunately, wolfishness was the last thing a slave needed.
Lifting the two of them, the guard walked out of the courtyard.
"You all keep working."
The children watched in terror as the guard carried the two limp bodies away, their limbs swaying.
Whoosh. Smack. Smack.
Zhou Xuefeng and Zhu Da were thrown into a mass grave.
After washing his hands by the river, the guard returned directly to the Duke's Mansion as if nothing had happened.
Where is this? Did I travel through time again?
His consciousness appeared within a hazy Gray Mist Space. Zhou Xuefeng looked around. The space felt dreamlike and illusory, ethereal as an immortal realm. It could not be truly perceived, yet it gave him a sense of drifting freely.
Or was this my golden finger?
Unable to sense the passage of time, Zhou Xuefeng felt that a long while had passed—or perhaps only an instant. The mist churned, and four vortices appeared. Whether it was good or bad, Zhou Xuefeng could not be bothered to dodge. He simply stood where he was.
The vortices dispersed, revealing four people.
