Background

Ning Xiaochuan was originally an ordinary college student from another world. He awakened in the body of the Ning Clan's sixteen-year-old Third Young Master, who had been considered worthless for failing to awaken a Source Soul and had recently been struck unconscious by his half-brother, Ning Yuan. He spent three days cultivating the Ning family's Qingyun Art before attending the Awakening Ceremony. 13

At the ceremony, he awakened the Sacred Spirit Young Dragon, publicly mistaken for an unknown dragon-type Source Soul and nicknamed the Milk Dragon. Su Linger recognized its true nature and offered him a partnership: he would stabilize her Mysterious Ice Phoenix, while she would guide his cultivation and help uncover the dragon's origins. 13 14

Ning Xiaochuan left Qingyun City to keep the Dark Source Soul Hall from targeting the Ning Clan. Before his departure, Ning Zhantian entrusted him with the Dragon Soul Jade left by Bai Li and warned that darkness would pursue him once his Source Soul awakened. 15

At Tianyuan Sect, Ning Xiaochuan passed the Source Qi Affinity Test, Combat Test, and Path of Heart's Inquiry. The final trial produced unprecedented seven-colored light and revealed a white dragon whose power resided in his bloodline. True Man Xuanyu accepted him as a disciple of Xuanyu Peak and concealed the Sacred Spirit Young Dragon's identity from the sect. 17

Ning Xiaochuan later learned that Bai Li was a member of the Sacred Origin Tribe, while his biological father was Bai Xiao, a guardian knight of the Sacred Origin royal family. Bai Li had placed him with Ning Zhantian to conceal his bloodline after fleeing the Dark Source Soul Hall. Though not related by blood, Ning Xiaochuan continues to recognize Ning Zhantian as his father. 35

Ning Xiaochuan initially inhabits the body of a sixteen-year-old youth with fair, slender hands marked by sword-training calluses. 13 His appearance becomes increasingly marked by his Sacred Source heritage after repeated inheritances and rebirths.

Personality

Ning Xiaochuan is driven primarily by protection rather than conquest. He chooses to leave Qingyun City rather than expose the Ning Clan to the Dark Source Soul Hall, repeatedly risks himself to save Su Linger, and insists on attempting to purify corrupted enemies such as Ning Yuan and Dark Star rather than simply killing them. 15 36 37

His greatest insecurity is his status as a transmigrator inhabiting another person's body. During the Sacred Source Trial, he confronts that fear and accepts that his bonds with Ning Zhantian, Su Linger, and the Sacred Spirit Dragon are real regardless of where he originated. 39
