Testing Underway

Li Qi and Ivanko's arrival drew the attention of many people, and quite a few of them looked at them with hostility.

As time passed, more people arrived to take the Admission Test. Including those who had finished their tests but had not left, there were already forty or fifty people in the waiting area.

"Why haven't they left?"

Looking at those who remained in the waiting area after finishing their tests, Li Qi found it strange.

Ivanko's expression was cold beside him. He sensed that something was off, because too many people glanced their way while speaking.

He looked toward that fellow powerhouse of the same level who delighted in watching trouble unfold and understood. There should be someone from the Holk Family among the chief examiners this time.

The examiners for Zhaoguang Academy's Admission Test were different every time, and they did not know in advance that they would be serving as examiners. They only received the notification on the day the Admission Test began.

The examiners for the Admission Test were directly appointed by the president of Zhaoguang Academy. In terms of status, the academy president ranked somewhat higher than even the lord of Zhaoguang City.

However, the former was only responsible for Zhaoguang Academy's affairs and held less authority within Zhaoguang City than the latter.

Ivanko had complete confidence in Li Qi. "It looks like they'll make things difficult during this Admission Test, but with Eleven's talent, passing won't be a problem."

Just as it was about to be Li Qi's turn to enter for the test, Ivanko called out, "Eleven."

Li Qi looked up. "Third Dad, what is it?"

Ivanko said solemnly, "No matter how others try to provoke you with their words, you must remain calm during the test."

Li Qi froze for a moment, then nodded. "Understood."

Not long after he spoke, the communicator on Li Qi's wrist rang. A message had arrived, notifying him that it was his turn for the test.

"Third Dad, I'm going."

Li Qi stood up, said a word to Ivanko beside him, and walked toward the testing room.

Chief Examiner's Office.

Ian sat in his chair boredly, his hand occasionally swiping across the light screen before him.

He had been on this planet for nearly two years, and he felt like he was about to rust away!

As a training planet of the Molten Empire, Kuka Planet had no external enemies or cosmic adventurers apart from the monsters raised in captivity. There were not even life-and-death battles between people!

It made him feel as though he were living in an illusory world, but his centuries of traveling the universe had taught him that this place was also part of the cruel universe.

As he looked through one candidate profile after another, he found them only dull. "They're all more ordinary than the last."

"Hmm?"

Ian's finger, which had been about to swipe onward, stopped. This candidate's profile had caught his attention.

"An Apprentice Level fighter killed a Planetary Level monster? Interesting."

He closed the light screen, rose to stretch lazily, and said, "Perfect time to go for a walk."

Without caring about his colleagues' looks, he left the chief examiner's office.

Inside the testing room, a young female examiner was making records. Ian entered the testing room through a side door.

When she saw Ian arrive, the female examiner who had been recording hurriedly rose to her feet. Just as she was about to speak, she was stopped.

Ian first raised a hand slightly to stop the female examiner from speaking, then said, "I'll handle this test. Go take a break."

Hearing her superior say this, the female examiner naturally could not refuse. Obediently setting aside her work, she left the testing room through the side door.

After the female examiner left the testing room, Ian went to where she had just been sitting and continued her unfinished work, as though he had been the examiner all along.

About half a minute later, Ian pressed the button beside him.

With a soft sound, the main door of the testing room opened, and Li Qi walked in.

"You're Li Qi Royce, right?"

The moment he entered the testing room, Li Qi heard someone question him.

Following the voice, he saw a smiling young man seated to one side of the room. A light screen filled with text and images floated before him, and Li Qi understood that he was the examiner.

Since it was the examiner asking, Li Qi replied, "I am Li Qi Royce."

"My name is Ian, and I'll be your examiner for this test." Ian asked, "Are you ready for the test?"

"I'm ready," Li Qi answered.

"Good. Go sit in the chair over there, then connect to the consciousness sensor."

Ian pointed to Li Qi's left. There was a chair recessed into the wall, with consciousness sensors installed on both sides.

Following Examiner Ian's instructions, Li Qi sat down in the chair and connected to the consciousness sensors.

Whoosh!

Li Qi's figure appeared inside the testing room. Examiner Ian was still standing to one side of the room, with the same light screen before him.

"Am I in the Virtual Universe?"

Seeing this, Li Qi quickly turned to look to the left of the main door. The wall there was completely intact, with no chair in sight.

"Don't be nervous. You're currently in the Virtual Universe." Ian's voice came over. "The test has begun. Follow my instructions now."

Hearing this, Li Qi nodded. "All right."

"Your file says you're a Controller. You may now choose a mental-force weapon you like."

As Examiner Ian finished speaking, more than ten common mental-force weapons appeared out of thin air before Li Qi, including blades and Bone Spikes.

After giving it some thought, Li Qi chose the Bone Spikes he had used the longest. Once he made his choice, the other mental-force weapons vanished into thin air.

"Now control your mental-force weapon and attack the circular target ahead with all your strength."

Looking forward, Li Qi saw a circular target appear before the wall ahead. He followed Examiner Ian's instructions and controlled the Bone Spikes at full force, attacking the target.

Whoosh!

In the blink of an eye, the Bone Spikes struck the circular target. Yet immediately afterward, both the Bone Spikes and the target disappeared.

"Mm."

Seeing the Bone Spikes and target vanish, Ian nodded slightly. "Maintain that level of attack for what follows. Now state the number of mental-force weapons you want, and you'll receive that number."

Hearing this, Li Qi understood that this was testing his Mental-Force Amplitude. He decided to test the waters first. "Eight Bone Spikes."

As soon as he spoke, eight Bone Spikes appeared out of thin air before him. At the same time, eight circular targets appeared before the wall ahead.

Go!

Li Qi gave a low shout. The eight Bone Spikes shot out and struck the eight circular targets respectively. The eight circular targets vanished without a trace along with the Bone Spikes.

"Based on the eight Bone Spikes just now, you can state a number to obtain more Bone Spikes. It will still be one Bone Spike attacking one target."

Ian's voice sounded again.

Li Qi thought for a moment and stated a number. "Eight."

Sixteen. This was the number of Bone Spikes he commonly used, and it was also the number required to cultivate the Twenty-Eight Basic Controller Techniques.

As soon as he spoke, sixteen Bone Spikes appeared before him.

The sixteen Bone Spikes attacked the sixteen circular targets ahead. Once again, the Bone Spikes and circular targets vanished simultaneously.

"Based on the sixteen Bone Spikes, state a number to obtain more Bone Spikes, then attack the targets ahead."

Ian looked at the light screen and spoke again.

This time, Li Qi did not think further and directly stated a number. "Eight."

"Hmm!"

The instant he heard that number, Ian immediately withdrew his gaze from the light screen and turned it toward Li Qi.

Li Qi controlled the twenty-four Bone Spikes that had appeared out of thin air and sent them toward the circular targets ahead...
