Testing

Li Qi and Ivanko's arrival drew the attention of many people, and quite a few of them looked at them with hostility.

As time passed, more people came to take the entrance test. Including those who had finished their tests but had not left, there were already forty or fifty people in the waiting area.

"Why haven't they left?"

Li Qi found it strange as he looked at those who remained in the waiting area after finishing their tests.

Ivanko's expression turned cold. He sensed something was wrong, because too many people glanced their way while talking.

He looked at the peer-level powerhouse who was enjoying the spectacle and understood. There should be someone from the Holk Family among the chief examiners this time.

The examiners for Zhaoguang Academy's entrance tests were different each time, and they would not know their identities beforehand. They would only receive notice that they had been assigned as examiners on the day the entrance tests began.

The entrance test examiners were directly appointed by the headmaster of Zhaoguang Academy. In terms of status, the headmaster of Zhaoguang Academy ranked slightly above even the lord of Zhaoguang City.

However, the former was only responsible for managing Zhaoguang Academy's affairs, and his authority within Zhaoguang City could not compare to the latter's.

Ivanko had full confidence in Li Qi. "It looks like they'll make things difficult during this entrance test, but with Eleven's talent, passing won't be a problem."

Just as it was about to be Li Qi's turn to enter for the test, Ivanko called out, "Eleven."

Li Qi looked up. "Third Dad, is something wrong?"

Ivanko said with a serious expression, "No matter how others try to provoke you with words, you must stay calm during the test."

Li Qi froze for a moment, then nodded. "Understood."

Not long after he spoke, the communicator on Li Qi's wrist rang. A message had arrived on his communicator, notifying him that it was his turn for the test.

"Third Dad, I'm going."

Li Qi stood up, spoke to Ivanko beside him, then headed toward the testing room.

Chief Examiner's Office.

Ian sat in his chair, bored, swiping his hand across the holographic screen before him from time to time.

He had been on this planet for nearly two years, and he felt like he was about to become useless!

As a training planet of the Molten Empire, Kuka Planet had no external enemies or cosmic adventurers apart from the demon beasts raised there. There was not even any life-or-death fighting between people!

It made him feel as though he were living in an illusory world, yet his centuries of traveling the universe told him that this place was also part of the cruel universe.

Looking through one candidate profile after another, he found them utterly boring. "They're more ordinary than the last."

"Hm?"

Ian's finger, which had been about to swipe, stopped. This candidate's profile caught his attention.

"An apprentice killed a planetary-level demon beast? Interesting."

He closed the holographic screen, got up, and stretched. "Perfect. I'll go for a walk."

With that, he ignored his colleagues' looks and left the chief examiner's office.

In the testing room, a young female examiner was making records when Ian entered through a side door.

Upon seeing Ian arrive, the female examiner quickly stood up. Just as she was about to speak, she was stopped.

Ian first raised a hand slightly to stop the female examiner from speaking, then said, "I'll take over this test. Go get some rest."

Having heard her superior's words, the female examiner naturally could not refuse. She obediently set down her work and left the testing room through the side door.

After the female examiner left, Ian went to where she had been sitting and continued her unfinished work, as though he had been the examiner from the beginning.

About half a minute later, Ian pressed the button beside him.

With a soft sound, the main door of the testing room opened, and Li Qi walked in.

"You're Li Qi Royce, right?"

The moment he entered the testing room, Li Qi heard a question.

He looked toward the voice and saw a young man with a smile on his face seated to one side of the room. A holographic screen floated before him, displaying various text and images. Li Qi immediately understood that he was the examiner.

Since it was the examiner asking, Li Qi replied, "I'm Li Qi Royce."

"My name is Ian, and I'll be your examiner for this test." Ian asked, "Are you ready for the test?"

"I'm ready," Li Qi answered.

"Good. Go sit in that chair and connect to the consciousness sensor."

Ian pointed to Li Qi's left. There was a chair recessed into the wall, with consciousness sensors installed on either side.

Following Examiner Ian's instructions, Li Qi sat in the chair and connected to the consciousness sensors.

Whoosh!

Li Qi's figure appeared inside the testing room. Examiner Ian was still standing to one side of the room, with the same holographic screen before him.

"Am I in the virtual universe?"

Seeing this, Li Qi quickly turned to look to the left of the main door. The wall there was completely intact, with no chair in sight.

"Don't be nervous. You're currently in the virtual universe." Ian's voice came through. "The test is starting. Follow my instructions from now on."

Li Qi nodded. "All right."

"Your file says you're a Controller. You can now choose a psychic weapon you like."

As Examiner Ian's words fell, more than ten common psychic weapons appeared out of thin air before Li Qi, including blades and bone awls.

After a brief moment of thought, Li Qi chose the bone awl he had used for the longest time. As soon as he made his choice, the other psychic weapons vanished into thin air.

"Now control the psychic weapon and attack the circular target ahead with full force."

Looking forward, Li Qi saw a circular target appear before the wall ahead. Following Examiner Ian's instructions, he controlled the bone awl at full strength and sent it toward the target.

Whoosh!

In the blink of an eye, the bone awl struck the circular target, but both the bone awl and target disappeared immediately afterward.

"Hm."

Seeing the bone awl and target vanish, Ian nodded slightly. "Maintain this level of attack from here on. Now state the number of psychic weapons you want, and you'll receive that number of psychic weapons."

Hearing this, Li Qi understood that this was testing his psychic power amplification. He decided to test the waters first. "Eight bone awls."

As his words fell, eight bone awls appeared out of thin air before Li Qi. At the same time, eight circular targets appeared before the wall ahead.

Li Qi gave a low shout. The eight bone awls shot out and struck the eight circular targets respectively. The eight circular targets and the bone awls all vanished without a trace.

Ian's voice came again.

Li Qi thought for a moment and stated a number. "Eight."

Sixteen. It was the number of bone awls he commonly used, and also the number required to practice the Twenty-Eight Basic Controller Techniques.

As his words fell, sixteen bone awls appeared before him.

The sixteen bone awls attacked the sixteen circular targets ahead. Once again, the bone awls and circular targets vanished simultaneously.

"Based on the sixteen bone awls, state a number to receive more bone awls, then attack the targets ahead."

Watching the holographic screen, Ian spoke again.

This time, Li Qi did not think much before directly stating a number. "Eight."

"Hm!"

The moment he heard that number, Ian immediately shifted his gaze away from the holographic screen and looked at Li Qi instead.

Li Qi controlled the twenty-four bone awls that had appeared out of thin air and sent them toward the circular targets ahead...
