Migration Ambush

At dawn the next day, Li Qi got up, washed up briefly, and stepped out of his tent. When he looked up, he saw cooking smoke rising into the sky.

Looking around, he found that the camp, once filled with tents, had become much emptier. Many tents had been dismantled and loaded onto carts, with only a small number still being taken down.

At this moment,

the entire Haheru Tribe was busy. People came and went, each carrying something or other. Even the children were helping.

Seeing Li Qi emerge from his tent, Yakesi, who was directing the tribespeople in the camp, hurried over.

On his way over, he took some food from a passing tribesman.

"Li Qi, you're awake. Have something to eat."

Yakesi handed the food to Li Qi, then took a waterskin from his waist and passed it over.

Taking the food and waterskin, Li Qi took a drink before asking, "Has your tribe decided which shelter to go to?"

"Haha." Yakesi laughed. "The moment the elders heard that you were returning to the Royce Family, they strongly insisted on going with you."

As he spoke, he pointed at the busy tribespeople. "See? We started preparing for the move before dawn. We'll be able to set out soon."

Even an inferior second-tier mind-power or Origin Force weapon cost more than twenty or thirty times as much as a peak first-tier mind-power or Origin Force weapon.

A fragment from a second-tier weapon of any grade was probably worth as much as, or even more than, an inferior first-tier weapon.

Looking at the spear Yakesi had laid beside him, Li Qi guessed that it was most likely a fragment of a first-tier mind-power or Origin Force weapon.

The migration party set out after the sky had fully brightened in the morning, then stopped at noon to rest and cook. Aside from one or two lone beasts, they did not encounter any packs of beasts along the way.

After lunch, they fed the Long-Haired Beasts pulling the carts with fodder and water. Following a short rest, the convoy set out again.

They had not gone far when warning whistles sounded from the rear, along with someone shouting, "A beast pack!"

Whoosh!

Li Qi flung the Bone Shield from his back into the air, then leaped up and stepped onto it, flying at full speed toward the rear of the convoy.

Yakesi had only just risen at the sound when Li Qi vanished from across from him with a whoosh, leaving behind only his retreating figure as he flew on the shield.

Sixteen Bone Spikes flew out and hovered around Li Qi.

Wind whistled past his ears. In barely ten seconds, he reached the rear of the convoy.

He saw them. Behind the migration party was a pack of black-gray wolf-like beasts with single horns growing from their heads.

The ordinary wolf-like beasts were around four meters long, while the larger ones measured five or six meters. There were more than forty of them in total.

Information about the Unicorn Wolf surfaced in Li Qi's memory. "Unicorn Wolf, a pack beast that reaches Apprentice Level Five upon adulthood."

At that moment, more than twenty Haheru Tribe warriors stood atop carts pulled by Long-Haired Beasts, spears in hand. Whenever a Unicorn Wolf dared to charge forward, they thrust fiercely at it.

Once they struck one, they immediately released their grip, allowing the Unicorn Wolf to fall while howling in pain with the spear still lodged in its body.

Behind the spearmen, other warriors drew their bows and nocked arrows, firing at the Unicorn Wolves relentlessly pursuing from behind.

In the middle of the many carts, an Apprentice Level Nine elder continuously directed everyone. "Fire! Fire! Don't let the Wolf King charge in!"

Within the Unicorn Wolf pack behind them was a giant wolf several times larger than the ordinary Unicorn Wolves, with three slightly smaller Unicorn Wolves beside it.

Whoosh, whoosh!

Several arrows spun through the air toward the Unicorn Wolf King.

Facing the incoming arrows, the Unicorn Wolf King made a light leap to the side, shifting several meters and easily dodging them.

"An Apprentice Level Nine Unicorn Wolf King."

After observing for a moment, Li Qi identified the Unicorn Wolf King's strength.

His eyes turned cold as killing intent rose within him.

"Die!"

Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh...

The sixteen Bone Spikes hovering around Li Qi shot out together, streaking toward the Unicorn Wolf King.

As they flew, the sixteen Bone Spikes crisscrossed and intertwined, dazzling the eye and making their trajectories impossible to discern.

The Unicorn Wolf King reacted quickly, leaping aside to evade, but it was all in vain.

The Bone Spikes were incredibly fast, and under Li Qi's control, they could track their target. In the blink of an eye, they had reached the Unicorn Wolf King.

Splat, splat...

Unable to gain leverage in midair, the Unicorn Wolf King was struck by one Bone Spike after another. Its more than six-meter-long body was hurled into the air by the tremendous force.

Blood sprayed out as if it were free, splattering everywhere in the air. The fur of many Unicorn Wolves was dyed red, and the Earth was drenched in blood.

The Unicorn Wolf King's famously tough hide could not withstand the Bone Spikes made from the teeth of a Planetary Level beast. One Bone Spike after another pierced through its body.

With a heavy crash, the Unicorn Wolf King's mangled body, still barely clinging to life, landed on the grass. Blood flowed from the wounds that had been pierced through.

In mere seconds, the Unicorn Wolf King that had led its underlings to attack the migration convoy died!

After killing the Unicorn Wolf King, the sixteen Bone Spikes split into three groups and shot from the air at the other three larger Unicorn Wolves.

Splat, splat...

Amid the sounds of Bone Spikes piercing flesh, the three Unicorn Wolves were nailed dead to the grassland.

With the Unicorn Wolf King and the three larger Unicorn Wolves dead, the Unicorn Wolves that had been attacking the migration convoy stopped their assault.

After briefly looking at one another, one Unicorn Wolf tucked its tail and fled. The others quickly followed suit, fleeing with their tails between their legs.

Soon, only dead Unicorn Wolves and those too badly injured to escape remained behind the convoy.

"Amazing!"

"As expected of the inspector. He dealt with the Unicorn Wolf King so easily."

"How long had we even been asking for help? He broke up the beast pack that quickly."

The Haheru Tribe warriors could not help voicing their heartfelt admiration when they saw Li Qi so effortlessly deal with the Unicorn Wolf pack they had needed to call for help against.

"Enough! Clean up the battlefield quickly, then catch up with the convoy!"

The elder who had been directing everyone against the Unicorn Wolf pack was also deeply grateful to Li Qi, but he remained calm as he ordered everyone to clear the battlefield.

Li Qi recalled the Bone Spikes and stood guard in the air for a while as everyone cleaned up the battlefield before returning to the cart in the middle of the migration convoy.

The Haheru Tribe warriors swiftly cleared the battlefield. They retrieved the spears and arrows, then loaded the Unicorn Wolves onto carts so they could butcher them while traveling.

About an hour after the migration convoy left, a raised trail of earth moved across the grassland from the distance, stopping beside the spot where the Unicorn Wolf King had died...
