"Lord Hokage, are you busy?"
Just as the two were arguing until their faces turned red and Danzo's expression darkened, a knock on the door broke the tense standoff between them.
"Come in!"
The doors slowly opened, and Orochimaru's figure came into view.
"Lord Hokage, I hope I'm not disturbing you?"
Orochimaru offered a polite greeting and noticed Danzo standing with his back to him. He was rather curious that this old bastard was here too.
But that was fine. He would not need to go out of his way to notify him. The two merely had a cooperative relationship, not one of superior and subordinate.
Still, Orochimaru greeted him. Danzo was an elder, after all; he could not simply ignore him without showing any respect.
Seeing Orochimaru return after so long, the Third Hokage's eyes merely flashed with surprise before he nodded at him.
Danzo, however, did not respond to Orochimaru. His face was as dark and frightening as if he had swallowed a fly.
Orochimaru did not care, though he cursed inwardly. I just got back, and you're already giving me that look? You've got some nerve. And you still want me to research that Sharingan arm for you? Just wait.
Seeing that the two had matters to discuss and that the atmosphere seemed rather unpleasant, Orochimaru did not linger. He gave a brief report, then left.
What surprised him, however, was that Danzo also rose to his feet and strode out, slamming the door behind him without even saying goodbye to the Third Hokage.
