Walking toward him was a woman Leon had never seen before—or rather, a Dragon Queen.
She wore a red dress, her long hair flowing behind her. A crimson tail trailed at her back, even longer than Losweiser's.
Leon remembered that Dragon scholars had said the longer a dragon's tail was, the older it was.
Of course, that only applied to dragons under five hundred years old.
Suddenly, Leon's mind went blank, and his thoughts inexplicably drifted elsewhere:
How old was Losweiser supposed to be, according to the information he had received?
Over two hundred?
Tsk—
She was over two hundred years old and still looked like a human in her twenties.
If he got the chance, he had to ask this Dragon Queen how she maintained herself for Master's wife.
Leon shook his head, stopping his wandering thoughts, and continued watching the two Dragon Queens in the courtyard.
Losweiser took the initiative to hug her older sister, Ischa, and Ischa returned the embrace warmly.
After a brief exchange of pleasantries, they went beneath the pavilion in the courtyard, seemingly discussing something.
Losweiser had said last night that her sister had probably come to discuss internal dragon affairs.
It was probably going to be a rather serious conversation.
A wicked smile curled across Leon's lips. "Sorry to keep you waiting, Your Majesty the Queen."
He slowly closed his eyes, raised his right hand, and gently placed it over the Dragon Mark on his chest.
Meanwhile, beneath the pavilion, Losweiser and the Red Dragon Queen Ischa sat facing each other.
Ischa lifted her eyes and looked at the guards beside her. "Leave us. I want to chat with my younger sister alone for a while."
"Yes, Your Majesty."
The guards left, leaving only the two sisters in the pavilion.
Ischa sat upright, watching the guards depart. Once she had confirmed that they were completely gone, the noble and aloof Red Dragon Queen suddenly darted over to her younger sister, affectionately wrapping an arm around her shoulders.
"I missed you so much, my dear little sister~ We haven't seen each other in a whole year, and your complexion looks so much rosier."
"Really... I suppose so."
"I heard that a harmonious married life does wonders for a woman's complexion. Little Los, could it be that your secretly married and frail husband... woke up?" Ischa asked with a mischievous grin, prying into her sister's gossip.
When she smiled, a little fang showed, making her seem playful and adorable—a stark contrast to her status as the noble Red Dragon Queen.
In this scatterbrained state, she hardly looked like a dragon leader over two hundred years old.
Losweiser, on the other hand, was clearly far younger than Ischa, yet her conduct seemed more mature.
Still, the sisters were both very tolerant of each other's personalities. After all, they had been sisters since childhood.
"What secret marriage? Sister, don't tease me..."
Losweiser smoothed her hair, then shook her head. "He woke up. He recently took Mu En to the back mountain to train, and they won't be back for a few days."
"Is that so? What a shame. I won't get to see the little princess either."
Ischa sighed, then added,
"But seriously, Little Los, why did you marry a Dragon King with no reputation at all? He won't even show his own tail."
"Uh... everyone has their own preferences. He's very low-key and introverted. He doesn't go around provoking other male dragons and causing trouble for me."
Even Losweiser herself felt deeply insincere saying that.
Introverted. Low-key.
How could either of those descriptions possibly apply to Leon?
Give him a sword, and he would be desperate to chop Losweiser down.
As for "provoking other male dragons," he might very well chop up other dragons along the way while trying to chop up Losweiser.
"Fine. I can't interfere with your private affairs. Let's end the small talk here. I came this time to tell you about the Crimson Flame Dragon King. He—"
"Hiss..."
Losweiser suddenly furrowed her brows. She unconsciously drew in her chest and covered her heart with her right hand, seeming somewhat uncomfortable.
Ischa hurriedly asked, "What's wrong? Where does it hurt?"
"N-No, it's nothing. Sister, please continue."
Losweiser forced down the reaction from the Dragon Mark on her chest, adjusted her expression, and smiled at Ischa.
Outwardly, she remained perfectly calm, but inside, Losweiser was already cursing that bastard Leon.
She knew it. When Leon had asked last night, "Is meeting your sister important?" he had definitely been plotting something.
That was why she had specifically told Leon not to leave the room and cause trouble for her.
Losweiser had thought that would keep Leon in line.
But she had not expected Leon to make use of the Dragon Mark she had carved onto him...
"When one of the people bearing a Dragon Mark starts 'missing' the other, the Dragon Mark reacts."
Naturally, so-called missing someone did not only mean missing them.
It also included... desire.
"Damn Dragon Slayer... He really has no bottom line when it comes to disgusting me!"
Losweiser forcefully suppressed the restlessness in her body, making herself appear calm.
Seeing that her younger sister seemed fine, Ischa continued.
"The Crimson Flame Dragon King Constantine has recently been planning to expand his territory. He—"
Losweiser did not hear a single word of what Ischa said next.
Before Leon, she had absolutely no experience with love, much less anything involving Dragon Marks.
So she had never expected the resonance between Dragon Marks to be so powerful.
Her tail began curling up uncontrollably. Her legs pressed together slightly as she kept biting her lip and swallowing.
"Constan—Little Los, are you really all right? Your face is red." Ischa asked worriedly.
Scatterbrained as she might be, Ischa was still deeply concerned when something seemed wrong with her younger sister.
Losweiser forced out a smile. "I-I'm fine. Oh, wait for me a moment, Sister. I need to take care of something. It should take... about twenty minutes."
"All right, go ahead. Do you want me to come with you?"
"No need, Sister."
"Okay."
Losweiser stood, enduring the heat and urges coursing through her body as she walked toward the temple.
Losweiser rushed into the room, looking around for that bastard.
Lifting the hem of her long dress, she searched every corner of the room.
Mu En was sleeping soundly in the bedroom.
And Losweiser found Leon beside the small dining table on the balcony.
That bastard was sitting there calmly, holding a teacup in one hand and Little Dragon Enlightenment Stories Encyclopedia in the other. He leisurely sipped tea while reading with great focus, as though he had not noticed the killing intent radiating from Losweiser at all.
It was not until Losweiser stepped onto the balcony and shut the balcony door behind her that Leon opened his mouth as if he had just realized something.
"You seem awfully relaxed here, Leon," Losweiser said.
Leon set down his teacup and storybook, stood up, and asked blankly, "What is it?"
He was pretending not to know.
Leon knew what consequences his actions would cause.
So when Losweiser came storming in to question him, he had already prepared himself.
"What is it? Don't tell me you don't know what you were thinking about."
"I want to go home," Leon replied bluntly.
"Bullshit. The Dragon Mark reacted just now. Stop playing dumb with me."
Not only had it reacted just now, but even now, the Dragon Marks on both their chests were still glowing with a faint purple light.
The Dragon Mark would make both parties uncontrollably develop feelings for each other.
So despite how fiercely they were confronting each other right now, only they themselves knew what they were truly thinking.
But Leon had already decided to keep denying everything to the bitter end.
"What does the Dragon Mark reacting mean?"
"Playing dumb, are you? I already told you that night. When one person starts missing another, the Dragon Marks resonate. You deliberately made them resonate at a time like this because you wanted to make me embarrass myself in front of others, didn't you?"
Seeing Losweiser so ashamed, angry, and anxious, Leon looked utterly calm on the surface, but inside, he was thrilled beyond measure.
Yes, yes, yes. This was exactly the effect he wanted.
Anyway, he had nothing to lose. No matter how she questioned him, he would refuse to admit it.
Leon opened his mouth, intending to fire back at Losweiser, but for some inexplicable reason, the words that came out were,
"Why are you being so mean to me? Is it wrong for me to miss you?"
Hiss—
It was still a retort, but why did it sound so pitiful?
Leon was somewhat puzzled. He had planned much more aggressive words, so why had this come out instead?
Still, judging from the stunned and confused look on Losweiser's face, the line had worked rather well.
Her vertical dragon pupils were filled with disbelief, while a blush gradually spread across her face along with her surprise.
The blush was faint, but against her fair skin, it was especially conspicuous.
It even spread to the tips of her ears.
Wait a second.
Something was not right.
She had clearly come here to deal with him, so why had she not done anything yet? Instead, she had been thrown off by just a few words from him?
Saying things like, "Is it wrong for me to miss you?"...
Honestly—
Uh...
Honestly—shameless!
Right, shameless. For a defeated prisoner to say something like that was absolutely shameless!
Losweiser comforted herself internally and wanted to continue mocking or ridiculing Leon.
But the Dragon Mark's reaction grew increasingly intense.
Her heartbeat kept accelerating. The more she looked at the bastard before her, the more pleasing he seemed, and she was nearly unable to suppress a dragon's instinct to reproduce.
She frowned, knowing that if this continued, twenty minutes would not be enough to finish what needed to be done.
Before the Dragon Mark could burn away the last trace of her rationality, Losweiser shot Leon a cold glance.
"You got lucky, Leon. If there is a next time, I won't let you off."
"Oh, I'm so scared."
"Disgusting!"
"Mm-hmm, mm-hmm, I'm disgusting. I'm disgusting."
