She had not even knocked. There was no need to guess—it had to be that crazy Dragon Queen.
Leon immediately pulled his hand away from Mu En's head and leaned farther back against the headboard.
The slow click of high heels against the floor approached.
Losweiser, dressed in casual clothes, strolled into the bedroom.
Her silver hair, usually meticulously arranged, now hung loosely down her back like a silver cloak.
The makeup on her face was lighter as well, but without a doubt, even without making a special effort to dress up, Losweiser was still a peerless beauty.
The hostility and ferocity from last night were gone from her silver dragon eyes, leaving only the languid air unique to a Queen.
"Good morning, Mother." Mu En jumped down from the large bed and looked up to greet Losweiser.
"Good morning, Mu En. How long has Daddy been awake?"
"He just woke up. Before Daddy woke up, I bandaged his wounds just like Mother told me to."
Losweiser nodded in satisfaction. "Very well done, Mu En."
The little dragon girl's eyes lit up. "Thank you, Mother!"
There was an old saying: kind mothers, strict fathers.
But in Leon's absurd "family," it seemed to be the other way around.
Leon played the role of the gentle, loving father, while Losweiser was the strict mother.
A simple word of praise was enough to make Mu En so happy.
Leon silently committed the scene to memory.
"Go play in the backyard first, Mu En."
"Um..."
Mu En lowered her head, fidgeting with her little fingers as she mumbled, "But Mu En wants to stay with Daddy..."
"What did you say?" Losweiser asked flatly.
"Ah, nothing! Mu En is going to the backyard right now!"
With that, the little dragon girl scampered out of the bedroom.
Only Leon and Losweiser remained in the room.
The two stared coldly at each other in silence.
After roughly ten seconds of deadlock, Leon spoke first. "Aren't you being too harsh on the child?"
"This is how we Dragon Race raise children."
"But she isn't entirely a dragon."
Losweiser frowned. "And whose fault do you think it is that she isn't entirely a dragon?"
Leon raised a brow. "Oh? Are you upset?"
As though he had caught Losweiser's weakness, he continued provoking her. "How was I supposed to know I'd hit the mark on the first try? Still, it turned out fine. The daughter we had is pretty cute, isn't she?"
Losweiser gritted her silver teeth. The laziness and ease in her dragon eyes vanished, replaced by the same coldness as before.
"She is a dragon, Leon. 'Cute' is a derogatory word for dragons."
"You're pretty cute too."
"...I simply cannot communicate with a human like you."
"If you can't communicate with me, why keep me around? Either throw me into the mountains to feed the wolves, or kill me right now. It's that simple."
Losweiser snorted, turned around, and sat at the edge of the bed with her back to Leon. "I told you, I won't let you die. Only if you stay alive can I continue tormenting you."
At those words, Leon's pupils shifted. After a moment, he replied, "But having to see the man who took your virginity every day—isn't that torture for you too?"
Losweiser did not care in the slightest. "So what? As long as it disgusts you."
Leon was utterly shameless. "Then I'll restrain myself from being disgusted, and let you disgust yourself instead."
"You think I'm afraid of you?"
"Hah? Do you think I'm afraid of you? I—"
Losweiser suddenly stood up, and Leon instinctively swallowed the rest of his words.
Whenever this dragon got that close, nothing good ever happened.
But this time, Losweiser did not humiliate Leon through "mating" as she had before.
She walked to the wardrobe, casually took out several brand-new sets of men's clothing, and tossed them beside Leon.
"Get dressed. Go to the backyard and play with Mu En."
Leon looked at the neat clothes and said awkwardly, "If you want to play with your daughter, go yourself. Why make me go?"
He had not said that on a random whim.
Because he had indeed noticed that Losweiser was somewhat... awkward in the way she acted.
Take the wound on Leon's hand, for example.
She could clearly have bandaged it herself, yet she insisted on ordering Mu En, a little dragon girl barely over a year old, to do it.
And now it was the same.
She wanted to play with her daughter but would not say it outright, instead making Leon—a bedridden patient who had only woken up less than two days ago—go.
No wonder your Dragon Race grew up so extreme and obsessive. Raised this way, forget dragons—even humans would be driven to the dark side.
"What do you mean, my daughter? Isn't she your daughter too?" Losweiser replied.
"I—"
That was true.
Leon was at a loss for words, unable to think of anything to say.
"I am the Queen of the Silver Dragon Clan. I cannot spend all day caring for children like some ordinary woman from a common household. A Queen has a Queen's way of doing things. I hope you understand that clearly, Leon."
"A Queen doesn't raise children, but have you ever seen a Dragon Slayer raise children?" Leon shot back.
"You've already been slept with by a dragon. What kind of Dragon Slayer are you anymore?"
"..."
"You are merely a slave I use to vent my anger, Leon. Now, do you understand what I said? If you do, go play with Mu En. She likes being with you."
With things said to that extent, Leon had no room to keep arguing.
He got out of bed and changed into the clothes.
Only after putting them on did Leon realize they were not human men's clothes. Their design looked more like Dragon Race attire.
Leon checked himself in the mirror and found it somewhat awkward-looking.
Seeing this, Losweiser walked over and, without asking, helped straighten his clothes.
He was a little taller than Losweiser, so when she adjusted his collar, whenever he lowered his head, his lips would lightly brush against her fingers.
The scene inadvertently stirred a memory in Leon.
He remembered that when he trained under Master, whenever Master went out, Master's wife would help him straighten his clothes just as Losweiser was doing now.
They had been a deeply loving couple. No matter how unreliable or scatterbrained that old man was outside, before Master's wife, he was always a good husband.
"That should do it."
Losweiser's voice interrupted Leon's thoughts. She stepped back half a pace, looked him over, then nodded in satisfaction. "All right. Go."
Leon said nothing and headed silently toward the door.
Losweiser watched his back until he left the room and the door slammed shut with a bang.
After a brief silence, Losweiser walked to the window, slowly drew in a breath, then slowly let it out.
A moment later, a Dragon subspecies the size of a pigeon flew to the window.
"A Messenger Dragon..."
The Dragon subspecies responsible for delivering information among the various races were called Messenger Dragons.
A small bamboo tube was tied to this Messenger Dragon's back with a red ribbon.
Losweiser removed the bamboo tube, opened it, and poured out a letter.
After reading two lines, Losweiser frowned slightly. "Why does eldest daughter have to visit at a time like this..."
Leon left the room and followed the corridor toward the rear courtyard of the Holy Temple.
Along the way, he encountered at least a dozen Dragon Race guards.
Security was far tighter than when he had snuck out after waking up yesterday.
It was clear that the reason he had escaped the Silver Dragon Sanctuary so easily yesterday was entirely because Losweiser had allowed it.
She had wanted to use that chance to take Leon to the gates of the Empire, then make him watch his homeland while feeling the despair of having a home he could not return to, all while enduring Losweiser's humiliation.
That was why Leon thought Losweiser was a crazy Dragon Queen.
Beneath her elegant and stern exterior lay a longing for madness and depravity.
Leon could only consider himself unlucky.
Of all the people he could have fallen into the hands of—
he had to fall into Losweiser's hands.
He could neither escape nor die, becoming nothing more than a tool for Losweiser to vent her anger on—
and he even had to take care of the child.
Still, Leon had not lost completely.
Because if Losweiser wanted to disgust him, she had to put some thought into doing something;
but if Leon wanted to disgust Losweiser, he did not need to do anything at all. He only needed to appear in her sight.
After all, throughout the history of both humans and dragons, Leon might have been the only ruthless man to get a dragon pregnant with a human body.
As absurd as that sounded to humans, it was just as disgusting to Losweiser.
At the same time, Leon still had not given up on escaping.
Just as he had said last night, Losweiser could extinguish his dignity and pride, but she could never kill his conviction as a Dragon Slayer.
The moment an opportunity appeared, Leon would definitely escape this den of demons.
While calculating his next escape plan, Leon turned through several corners in the corridor.
As he neared the rear entrance of the Holy Temple, he suddenly spotted a familiar small figure standing at the end of the hall.
Amid her thick black hair were a few silver streaks. A tiny tail hung by her feet, and she wore a luxurious dress suit, with exquisite white stockings that revealed the color of her skin beneath the hem.
It was Mu En.
Leon had just raised his hand to greet her when he noticed that something seemed off about the little dragon girl.
There was no expression on Mu En's face. She merely stared at Leon coldly.
As if they had some deep, bitter grudge.
Though he had not spent long with Mu En, Leon had been deeply impressed by her gentle eyes. They were nothing like this cold and emotionless gaze.
Leon pursed his lips, wondering if he had taken too long and Mu En had gotten tired of waiting, so she was angry.
After hesitating, Leon still waved. "Mu En, sorry to keep you waiting. Mom asked me to come play with you. We—"
But before Leon could finish, Mu En rushed out through the rear door and ran into the courtyard.
Leon hurried after her.
But Mu En was already nowhere to be seen.
Leon scratched his head and muttered, "Children's moods really are impossible to understand. No wonder Losweiser handed the childcare duty to me. She gets to take it easy."
Though he complained aloud, Leon still walked toward the back garden, hoping to find Mu En there.
