Heradi looked at the well-equipped, imposing Kingdom soldiers before him, his heart filled with helplessness and bitterness. More than anything, though, he regretted it. If there were such a thing as regret medicine, Heradi would have bought a whole ton wholesale. But now, he had to pay for his hesitation from a few days ago. Fortunately, he still had one last sliver of hope of surviving—provided he could seize it!
Suddenly, the army across from him parted down the middle, forming a path wide enough for only one person. Steady footsteps sounded from behind, drawing closer and closer to Heradi. Gradually, a silver-haired, silver-eyed youth came into view, followed closely by a burly figure. The two quickly passed through the formation and stopped not far from Heradi. He noticed that the silver-haired youth was studying him with great interest, looking him up and down repeatedly.
"I never thought I, Heradi, would fall into the hands of a half-grown child. Hahaha!"
"How dare you mock our Commander! You must be tired of living! Men, shoot him!"
At the adjutant's command, a squad of soldiers immediately surrounded him with crossbows raised, every arrowhead aimed at Heradi. As long as the adjutant or Sordil gave the order, Heradi would be turned into a pincushion the next second. Seeing the attack formation brought out by his momentary remark, Heradi gripped the long sword in his hand tightly. He wanted nothing more than to slap himself twice. If one stupid move of his cut off his last path to survival, then he would truly be done for. Fortunately, the goddess of fate was on his side. The silver-haired youth stopped the soldiers from firing and motioned for the adjutant to return first.
"Kurelle, don't be like that. Have them all stand down! It's been a
