Ch. 21Setting an Ambush

Sordil sealed Zobol Forest with a magical barrier and prepared an ambush against Koreita’s dragons, leaving one narrow western passage to limit casualties. The trapped dragons were attacked across the forest, and the survivors fled toward the passage where Sordil’s forces awaited them.

  • Sordil activated a barrier around Zobol Forest after finishing the Magic Array, while Murellia warned that trapping the dragons could increase casualties.
  • Sordil opened a narrow passage on the western side and ordered Woodsman and Wattster to ambush dragons who escaped through it.
  • Moritz patrolled the forest, was struck by a blue beam, and lost his right arm and wing to an ambusher.
  • Black discovered the barrier and saw Sordil directing its reinforcement, but refused to flee.
  • Surviving dragons found the western passage and rushed toward it, unaware that Sordil’s forces had set a deadly ambush there.

Ch. 22Hunting

Sordil explained his ring-shaped trap for routing fleeing dragons into repeated ambushes, while Woodman and Wattster captured Holop. The hunters then found Mevajena and her wounded brother, and Mevajena faced a new attack after being struck by a blue dragon.

  • Sordil explained that he had left escape routes through the Space Magic barrier and linked passages into a ring to exhaust and hunt the fleeing dragons.
  • Woodman pursued Holop and found Wattster beating him; they bound him, locked him in a giant cage, and sent him to Fostadu.
  • Wattster told Woodman she had learned from Sordil that she could attack once the barrier was raised, and Woodman regretted missing the chance to study with Sordil.
  • Mevajena supported her badly wounded brother and avoided flying after a companion was killed by a hidden attacker.
  • Mevajena was ambushed by blue and dark green breath attacks, then punched by a blue dragon; she dodged its whip and fired her breath into the smoke.

Ch. 23Moving

Mevajena and her brother were captured after the battle in Zobol Forest, where Sordil’s forces killed five Koreita dragons and captured four. Back in Fostadu, Sordil proposed moving the entire city to Ishgar, and he began demonstrating that he could shrink it.

  • Wattster and Woodman captured Mevajena and her brother, and Wattster healed her brother’s wounds before they continued the hunt.
  • The battle ended with five of the nine giant dragons in Zobol Forest dead and four captured, and Sordil’s group returned to Fostadu with the prisoners.
  • Fostadu’s humans celebrated the captured dragons and praised Sordil when he arrived with Hadessta and the others.
  • Sordil told the Fostadu dragons that they should leave the Western Continent for Ishgar, but many doubted he could move their city.
  • Sordil wagered that he could shrink Fostadu and take it intact, then activated a vast Magic Array that made the city tremble and seemed to change the dragons’ size and distance from him.

Ch. 24R System

After learning that Fostadu had vanished, Glaide ordered Koreita’s forces to investigate it. At Mildian Magic Academy, Zeref presented his R System research and argued with Hissell, who warned him to stop pursuing a resurrection that required sacrificing another life.

  • Glaide learned that Black and four other men were dead, while the rest of the group and Fostadu had disappeared.
  • Glaide ordered Koreita to assemble and fly to Fostadu to investigate.
  • Sordil traveled toward Ishgar with Fostadu following, while Zeref presented the R System at Mildian Magic Academy.
  • Zeref explained that the R System could resurrect the dead by using vast magic power and a sacrificed body.
  • Hissell confronted Zeref about the danger of angering Ankhseram and condemned the sacrifice required by his research.
  • Hissell told Zeref not to continue the research and left him alone with his papers.

Ch. 25Kingdom of Tsuyioru Xiu

Sordil visited the capital of the Kingdom of Tsuyioru Xiu and approached King Belmod to negotiate for territory in exchange for an alliance. After revealing that he was a dragon from the Western Continent, Sordil left Belmod to consider the offer while Queen Donagunov Irene’s growing military power threatened the kingdom.

  • Sordil considered searching the Mildian Magic Academy library for Transformation Magic so he could pass as human.
  • Sordil and Seraf returned to the inn and waited until night to approach the royal palace.
  • Belmod worried about Queen Donagunov Irene’s military buildup, then destroyed ornaments in frustration.
  • Sordil entered Belmod’s room under a magical barrier and offered his tribe as an ally in exchange for territory.
  • Sordil revealed his dragon form, and Belmod suspected he had fled from the Western Continent or was a spy.
  • Sordil acknowledged Belmod’s suspicion and redirected the discussion to the threat posed by Queen Donagunov and her dragons.

Ch. 26Cuyis Tree Sea

Sordil led the refugees to the Cuyis Tree Sea and restored Fostadu there, while Belmod made the forest off-limits and the Western Continent’s dragons continued their attacks. After settling in, Sordil prepared to return to Mildian Magic Academy, accompanied by a bodyguard team chosen by his family.

  • Belmod secretly consulted his prime minister, then barred entry to the Cuyis Tree Sea and ordered nearby lords to relocate; two who objected were executed.
  • Sordil led Gilkunis and the others to the Cuyis Tree Sea, expanded Fostadu in the forest, and announced it as their new home.
  • Glaide found Fostadu’s former site empty and feared the higher-ups would punish him for losing his rival and territory.
  • Irene learned that Belmod had restricted the Cuyis Tree Sea, while Belserion warned that Western Continent dragons were attacking humans and vowed to protect her kingdom.
  • After ten days in Fostadu, Sordil announced he would return to Mildian Magic Academy; Wattster proposed that he take an escort, and the dragons supported the plan.
  • Two days later, Sordil left for Mildian Magic Academy with a bodyguard team prepared by his four fathers and one mother.

Ch. 27Ankhseram's Curse

Belmod received a report about dragons and humans at a newly raised mountain, while Sordil and his companions continued their journey after a mishap at a lake. At Mildian Magic Academy, Zeref was expelled over his forbidden research, and Ankhseram’s curse spread from him across the academy, knocking everyone unconscious.

  • Belmod learned that a perilous mountain had appeared in the Cuyis Tree Sea and ordered his agent to watch the others there.
  • Sordil went fishing, but a huge purplish-red fish swallowed him; Lindel, Seraf, Diphiya, and Murellia pulled him ashore and found him asleep.
  • Hissell confronted Zeref about building Eclipse and revealed that the academy council had decided to expel him.
  • Zeref reacted to his expulsion as black smoke emerged from his body, and Hissell recognized it as Ankhseram’s curse.
  • The black mist spread through Mildian Magic Academy and caused everyone except Zeref to collapse unconscious.

Ch. 28Bad News

Acunologiya set out for the Western Continent after hearing that dragons there were killing humans, while Sordil’s group reached Mildian and found signs of a deadly curse. Sordil discovered new graves at the academy, confirming that he had failed to prevent the tragedy and leaving Hissell’s fate unknown.

  • Acunologiya told the doctor he would investigate reports of dragons killing humans in the Western Continent, then departed for it.
  • After traveling for more than a month, Sordil and his four companions arrived near Mildian and recalled his year apart from Zeref.
  • Diphiya teased Sordil about being swallowed by a fish and asked why he had not used a breath attack; Murellia then called her away.
  • Sordil led the group toward Mildian Magic Academy and noticed that the city was unnaturally quiet and lifeless.
  • Sordil found the academy deserted, searched it for five hours without finding Hissell or anyone else, and saw newly added graves that confirmed the curse had struck.

Ch. 29Ghost Dragon Kaldiz

Sordil recovered from his grief over Hissell’s death, took the Mildian Magic Academy library with him, and prepared to return to Fostadu. Elsewhere, Kaldiz mourned his son and people before being surrounded by dragons and confronted by an attacker.

  • Diphiya persuaded Sordil to stop starving himself, and he resolved to find a way to bring Hissell and the others back from the dead.
  • Sordil ate the food Diphiya brought, then used Quality Magic Arrays and his new Space Magic spell, Secret Room, to store the academy library.
  • Sordil created a sand-built library containing a message for an old friend and told Diphiya, Lindel, and the others to prepare to return to Fostadu.
  • Kaldiz woke from a nightmare about his newborn son, grieved for his people, and vowed to avenge them.
  • Several dragons surrounded Kaldiz, and an attacker emerged from the bushes and declared that Kaldiz could not escape his fate.

Ch. 30Rescue (Part 1)

Kaldiz escaped Glaide and the dragons after using a black energy sphere to weaken and trap them. Later, Sordil and his companions found an injured Black Great Dragon in the forest, and Sordil decided to save him.

  • Kaldiz attacked a brown dragon and used Death Rhapsody to trap Glaide and the other dragons, then fled while they struggled to break free.
  • Sordil brought Seraf and the others into the forest to camp, where Diphiya embarrassed him by recalling his encounter with a fish.
  • A tremor led Sordil's group to a badly wounded Black Great Dragon whose back scales had been torn away.
  • After considering what to do, Sordil decided that they would save the Black Great Dragon.

Ch. 31Rescue (Part 2)

Sordil and his companions rescued the badly injured Kaldiz, whose unusual constitution made magic ineffective, and carried him away before Glaide could catch them. After treating Kaldiz in a cave with gathered herbs, the group prepared to continue their journey.

  • Sordil decided to carry Kaldiz away in shifts and search for a place to treat his injuries, while Glaide arrived at the abandoned campsite and realized the injured dragon had been taken.
  • Glaide sent his six dragons in different directions to pursue the rescuers, then secretly returned to the campsite after they left.
  • Kaldiz regained consciousness in the cave and tried to stand, but Diphiya helped him up and told him to rest.
  • Diphiya explained that she and Sordil had rescued Kaldiz and that their companions were searching the mountain for herbs because healing magic did not work on him.
  • Sordil returned to the cave with Lindel and the others, bringing enough herbs to continue treating Kaldiz.

Ch. 32Summoning Technique

Sordil summoned a colossal gate to the Spirit World and entered it, hoping to learn a new spell that could help his companions cross the sea while Kaldiz remained unable to fly. He left Miss Diphiya, Kaldiz, Seraf, and the others waiting safely on the coast as the gate vanished.

  • Miss Diphiya celebrated reaching the coast, and Sordil quickly apologized when she suggested discussing who would go fishing.
  • Miss Diphiya worried about crossing the sea with Kaldiz still unable to fly, while Sordil prepared to try a newly learned spell.
  • Sordil summoned a colossal blue-violet gate, and the group discovered that only he could pass through it.
  • Sordil warned the others to stay behind, opened the gate with his magical power, and stepped into the Spirit World.
  • The gate dissolved, and Seraf reassured Miss Diphiya that Sordil would return safely after resolving their difficulty.

Ch. 33Spirit King

Sordil explored the vast Spirit World and sought the Spirit King to form contracts with powerful Celestial Spirits. The Spirit King mistook him for a privileged descendant of a mysterious woman, and the chapter ended with Sordil asking whether dragons could contract with Celestial Spirits.

  • The Spirit King sensed Sordil's arrival and wondered why his power carried the same composition as a mysterious woman's.
  • Sordil traveled across the enormous Spirit World until he found a group of Canis Minor Nicola, who swarmed around him without answering his questions.
  • The Spirit King appeared and asked Sordil where he came from and why he had entered the Spirit World.
  • Sordil introduced himself as a dragon from Asland and said he wanted to form contracts with powerful Celestial Spirits.
  • The Spirit King concluded that Sordil was a trainee sent by the mysterious woman, and Sordil mentioned that she had sent him to Asland as compensation.
  • Sordil approached the Spirit King and asked whether dragons could form contracts with Celestial Spirits.

Ch. 34Signing the Contract

Sordil persuaded the Spirit King to let him try forming a contract and passed a two-question test about what a Celestial Spirit meant. He named the Spirit King Stall Rone Orne, sealing their contract and revealing that Sordil could enter the Spirit World at will.

  • Sordil asked whether he could form a contract with the Spirit King, who agreed only after Sordil passed a test.
  • Sordil answered the Spirit King's two identical questions with different descriptions of a Celestial Spirit, satisfying the test.
  • The Spirit King told Sordil to give him a name as proof of their contract.
  • Sordil named the Spirit King Stall Rone Orne, and a bright yellow light sealed their bond.
  • Sordil gained the ability to enter and leave the Spirit World at will, while the Spirit King witnessed Sordil's arrival and birth but not his memories from his previous life.

Ch. 35Anna

Sordil returned from the Spirit World and explained its time difference to Diphiya and the others before they resumed transporting Kaldiz toward Fostadu. In Hajirulon, Anna was rejected by the townspeople as a thief, though she believed a strange parasite inside her had stolen the money, and she headed toward the seaside to seek help.

  • Sordil returned after less than three hours in the Spirit World, while five days had passed in Asland, and reassured Diphiya and the others.
  • Sordil took Diphiya and the others to the Spirit World so they could confirm its different flow of time, leaving Kaldiz behind in Asland.
  • Sordil and the other dragons resumed carrying Kaldiz toward Ishgar, taking turns resting in the Spirit World as they neared Fostadu.
  • Anna pleaded for work at Jiru's fruit stall, but Jiru refused because he believed she had repeatedly stolen money from her employers.
  • Anna remembered that a strange thing inside her body had taken the money and that no one believed her, then went toward the seaside to look for something there.

Ch. 36Taking a Disciple

Anna searched for food along the cliffs and was captured by Lindel, who brought her to Sordil. After discovering Anna resembled Lucy and sensing her magic power, Sordil offered to spare her if she followed him and learned magic.

  • Finding her fish basket empty, Anna took her fishing rod and went to the cliffs to look for food.
  • Diphiya and Sordil's group reached Ishgar, and Sordil spotted Anna on the cliffs and sent Lindel to bring her over for directions and supplies.
  • Anna mistook Lindel for an evil dragon who wanted to eat her and begged him to spare her, but he carried her to Sordil.
  • Sordil introduced himself to Anna, examined her magic power, and told her she must follow him and learn magic in exchange for her life.

Ch. 37The Journey

Sordil spared Anna and took her as his student, then led her and Seraf to resupply before the group resumed its journey to Fostadu. As they reached home, Sordil gave Anna twelve golden keys and began teaching her a new form of summoning magic, which she named Spirit Magic.

  • Sordil agreed to spare Anna and teach her magic, and Anna eagerly accepted.
  • Sordil asked Anna where they were and learned they were near Hargeon Port; he then took her and Seraf to Hajirulon to buy supplies for Kaldiz and the group.
  • Sordil stopped merchants from driving Anna away over her past deeds and told her she could prove herself by mastering her magic.
  • The group returned to Fostadu after Kaldiz recovered, and Sordil comforted Diphiya about seeing her family again.
  • Sordil gave Anna twelve golden keys and taught her about summoning magic and contracts with celestial spirits.
  • Anna named the magic Spirit Magic, and Sordil agreed to the name.

Ch. 38Trouble

Sordil and his companions returned to Fostadu and discovered that Tsuyioru Xiu soldiers had confined the dragons under the pretense of protecting the secret realm. After reuniting with Hadessta and the others, Sordil brought Kaldiz and Anna inside and raised his concerns about the kingdom’s plans.

  • Sordil decided the Tsuyioru Xiu army had come seeking help, then led a group into Fostadu while Kaldiz and Anna waited outside.
  • Diphiya confronted the soldiers who claimed Fostadu was a restricted secret realm, and Sordil realized the king was using the troops to isolate and control the dragons.
  • Hadessta, Old man, and the others arrived, welcomed Diphiya and her companions, and brought them to Fostadu’s main peak.
  • Sordil secretly met Kaldiz outside and arranged to bring him and Anna into Fostadu that night.
  • At the welcome banquet, Sordil cast Sleep on the soldiers, brought Kaldiz and Anna inside, and discussed his concerns with Hadessta’s group.

Ch. 39Resolution (Part 1)

Sordil told the captured dragons that they were far from home, then secretly sent Kaldiz to seek aid from Irene. When Black and the others tried to bargain for their release, Sordil denied them any leverage and ordered their conditions worsened.

  • Sordil taunted Fordisg and Black, revealed that the prisoners were in Ishgar, and ordered guards to take them outside daily if they wished.
  • Sordil secretly sent Kaldiz west, and Kaldiz asked Queen Irene for aid on behalf of the survivor of the Star Forest Moon Boat secret realm.
  • Sordil spent his days reading and teaching Anna Spirit Magic while the four prisoners debated how to secure their release.
  • Black offered Sordil the prisoners' help in exchange for freedom, but Sordil called them his slaves and ordered the warden to stop their outings and cut their food and water.

Ch. 40Resolution (Part 2)

After Sordil cut off the dragons’ food and water, Black’s plan seemed to fail as Sordil ordered Mevajena taken away and the prison filled in. Sordil revealed it was an act to subdue them, then told Mevajena he would spare her from marriage if she helped him kill someone.

  • Holop blamed Black for the dragons’ worsening imprisonment, while Fordisg defended Black’s plan and Black insisted Sordil would not let them die.
  • After five days without food, the dragons overheard that Mevajena would be taken away and their prison filled in, prompting Holop to surrender and Mevajena to offer to marry Sordil in exchange for her brother’s safety.
  • Sordil told Miss Diphiya that the apparent punishment and his anger had been an act to subdue the dragons, then ordered Seraf to stop filling in the prison and bring Mevajena to his room.
  • Diphiya visited Mevajena and offered to let her go, but Sordil returned before she could release her.
  • Sordil told Mevajena he no longer planned to marry her if she helped him kill someone.
