But later, Riezel discovered that not only were the attacking Abyss Creatures growing increasingly numerous, their types had become irregular as well.

Take the enormous Abyss Creature Riezel encountered at the very beginning. Though it had been followed by a countless army resembling dense swarms of flies, those fly-like Abyss Creatures were actually its followers. They might even have been bred inside that colossal creature, just like the tiny organisms that formed the dense fog.

For offspring bred by a parent organism to follow it around and serve at its command was perfectly normal.

But the Abyss Creatures that had been appearing in groups over the last two days were different.

There seemed to be no connection between them whatsoever. From Riezel's observations over this period, they ought to have followed some sort of Law of the Jungle, operating only within their own territories and rarely crossing their boundaries.

More than ninety percent of Abyss Creatures were mindless, savage monsters. If they encountered one another in the wilderness, they would either threaten each other before backing off, or immediately begin slaughtering one another, with the strong devouring the weak, claiming the weak's territory, and growing ever stronger.

Yet over the past two days, groups of Abyss Creatures seemed to have set aside their instinct to fight one another. As though by prior agreement, they all came solely for Riezel, completely ignoring other Abyss Creatures—or even joining forces with them to attack him.
