"Miss, the Sect Master has arranged everything. It's time for us to leave," Hall Master Lei said when he saw Ning Rongrong coming over.
"Hurry up. If Grandpa Sword and Bone Douluo change their minds, I won't be able to leave." Ning Rongrong looked like a wild horse breaking free of its reins.
"A grown daughter can't be kept at home," Bone Douluo remarked wistfully as the three of them watched the carriage race away in the distance.
In truth, Sword Douluo and Bone Douluo understood that Rongrong had not gone to Shrek Academy for its educational philosophy. More than anything, she wanted to escape their restrictions.
"Hall Master, you should go back. We're at the entrance now. I can go in by myself." Since it was Ning Rongrong's first time at Shrek Academy, she did not want the other students to see that she was receiving special treatment.
"Miss, go on ahead. Once you enter the academy, I'll naturally leave." Hall Master Lei was still somewhat uneasy. Ning Rongrong's status was too noble; if anything happened to her, he could not bear the responsibility.
"Hello, I'm here to enroll." Ning Rongrong smiled faintly and handed over the registration form in her hand.
"Did your family agree to let you come here?" Li Yusong measured her Soul Power and age with the testing orb. When he saw her martial soul, he stared at Ning Rongrong in surprise and asked.
"Teacher, students should not be judged by their background. Why divide people into ranks?" Ning Rongrong's words left Li Yusong speechless.
"You have been successfully admitted to Shrek Academy. Tuition is 10,000 Gold Soul Coins per term, uniforms cost 2,000 Gold Soul Coins, meals cost 3,000 Gold Soul Coins, and lodging costs 5,000 Gold Soul Coins, for a total of 20,000 Gold Soul Coins," Li Yusong said seriously.
"Other academies only charge 200 Gold Soul Coins. Why do your uniforms cost 2,000 Gold Soul Coins? That's ten times the price! What kind of lousy academy is this? You're clearly using admissions as an excuse to cheat students out of their money!" A parent waiting in line behind them immediately began cursing after hearing Li Yusong's words.
"Our academy's uniforms are personally designed by the dean, and every class has one-of-a-kind uniforms, so they're a little more expensive than those of other academies," Li Yusong said. Yet he had seen the clothes Dean Flender designed himself, and they truly were unbearable to look at.
He had once asked Flender who would be willing to wear such beautiful uniforms, but after hearing Flender's reply, he had been rendered speechless. No wonder Teacher Zhao Wuji never ate with him.
"Teacher, the two of us are enrolling. Here are 40,000 Gold Soul Coins." Tang San and Xiao Wu voluntarily handed over their registration forms, then had their Soul Power and ages measured.
"Not bad. The two of you have also been admitted to Shrek Academy." Li Yusong said happily as he looked over the registration forms. What made him even happier was the tuition he had collected.
"Teacher, I'm enrolling too. My Soul Power Level and age are the same as those two ahead of me." Zhu Zhuqing handed over her registration form and came forward to pay the tuition.
"Alright, everyone behind them can go home. The academy has already reached its enrollment quota," Li Yusong said impatiently. In previous years, recruiting even one student had been difficult, yet this year they had suddenly taken in four new students.
"Teacher, I object! I've been waiting here since morning. The academy only admitted four students, and there are so many people behind us. You're sending us away without even testing us?" The people waiting in line behind them glared at Li Yusong angrily.
"I forgot to tell you during recruitment: this academy has limited resources and can only accept four students. Mubai, see the guests out!" Li Yusong had completed his task and could not be bothered with the people in line.
In fact, Li Yusong had looked through everyone's registration forms. It was not that resources were limited; Shrek Academy's admissions depended on whether one had powerful backing and sufficient potential.
There were currently three students in the academy. Ma Hongjun was Flender's student, so there was no need to consider anything else. He had been admitted through the back door directly.
Then there was Oscar, an auxiliary-system soul master with Innate Full Soul Power at level 10. He was a student with potential, so they had accepted him outright.
As for Dai Mubai, they originally had not wanted to accept him. It was not because his martial soul was useless, but because he could have been a genius and instead indulged in women every day. Flender accepted him for two reasons: first, the academy was short on funds; second, he wanted to give the Star Luo Empire's emperor some face.
When recruiting students today, Flender had informed Li Yusong that one was the young lady of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect, one was Dai Mubai's fiancée, and the other two had a powerful backer surnamed Tang. They could not afford to offend them and had to accept them.
And so, including the four students admitted today, the academy had only seven students in total. The number of teachers was nearly the same as the number of students.
"Mubai, take them to arrange their dormitories. At seven tomorrow morning, everyone must gather on the training field. Anyone late or absent will be fined 10,000 Gold Soul Coins," Li Yusong told the newcomers before turning and leaving.
"Oh, right, Mubai, inform the other two as well. You are the academy's older students, so mind your image. Remember to restrain yourselves in certain matters—especially you, Mubai, and that little fatty." Li Yusong left before Dai Mubai could reply.
"Reporting to the Sect Master, Miss has successfully joined Shrek Academy. Should we send someone to protect her in secret?" Hall Master Lei only felt at ease after seeing Ning Rongrong enter Shrek Academy.
"No need. Shrek Academy is not as weak as you imagine. Not many people would be willing to offend them." Ning Fengzhi had entrusted Ning Rongrong to Flender and had nothing to worry about.
"This subordinate takes his leave." Hall Master Lei did not waste words. His task was complete, so he withdrew.
Dai Mubai arranged dormitories for the four newcomers. They could have built better houses, but because Flender was stingy and miserly, he had chosen to establish the academy in a remote village, calling it living in harmony with nature.
That was not the end of it. The other teachers had all suggested building new structures, but Flender insisted on using local materials and not wasting the academy's funds. Afterward, all the houses were built from wood.
The four newcomers were arranged to stay on the first floor, while Dai Mubai and the others had previously stayed on the second floor. Because the location was remote, the academy grounds were quite spacious, and the teachers' and students' dormitories were separate.
At midnight, strange sounds came from upstairs. The four newcomers downstairs immediately blushed furiously. Even Tang San, who had lived two lifetimes, felt somewhat awkward.
More than half an hour later, the pleading voice of another girl came through.
"Fatty, please let me go. It's already been five times—I can't take it anymore. I'll help you again next time, alright?"
"Lili, I'm sincere about you. Just help me one last time, alright?" Fatty's voice came through.
It went back and forth like that. Fatty carried on for seven rounds, while the woman cried and begged for mercy. In the end, unable to endure Fatty's behavior any longer, she left in the middle of the night.
By then, it was already late at night. Fatty was worried and chased after her. Upstairs, Dai Mubai and Oscar were already used to Fatty's preferences.
As for the other four downstairs, they had just moved into the dormitory and were not used to it yet. Once Fatty left chasing after that woman, the dormitory finally became quiet.
No one knew when they all fell asleep. In the morning, Dai Mubai woke everyone from outside the door.
Tang San, who always woke early, had overslept because of what happened the night before. By the time he woke up, dawn was nearly upon them.
After hurriedly washing up and getting ready, everyone left the dormitory and headed for the training field.
