Reflections on Completion

It was finished.

I couldn't put into words what I was feeling right now.

Melancholy?

Reluctance?

Relief?

An emptiness in my heart?

Probably all of it. It was complicated.

Tears? No, not really.

I started this book on December 21, 2017. It had taken one year and nine months to reach 4.8 million words. That wasn't much, but Gouzi had already done his best.

When I first started writing, I was a complete newcomer who knew nothing. Every day, I hugged my phone and foolishly clicked on my own book, hoping for a few more clicks. Later, I learned that no matter how many times one person clicked, it only counted three or four times a day at most...

When I started writing Projection, I stumbled along. Many things I thought were pretty good ended up becoming poison points.

For a time, the criticism made me doubt myself, and I nearly lost the motivation to keep writing.

Especially when Rebellious—Tian Shi Ye Diao Mao, one of the earliest readers to tip me, dropped the book too. So did Roar, Roar, Roar~ This Rat Has Arrived, the first reader to add it to a book list.

That period hit me hard, but thankfully, I got through it.

I still remembered that when the book first went premium, Gouzi put a tag in the title asking for subscriptions. It was probably in the few chapters before it went premium.

One reader said, "If you ask for subscriptions, do you think I'll subscribe?"

Later, Gouzi asked for monthly tickets for three months and asked for recommendation tickets, but I never again asked for subscriptions.

Subscriptions really couldn't be begged for.

Just like how subscriptions were truly terrible in the later stages, but Gouzi still didn't ask for them.
