Huadun's library, if you had to describe it with one adjective, it would be "transparent."
The dilapidation outside and the age within complemented each other perfectly, with no intention of deceiving the public.
However, the architectural design was quite interesting. The spacious hall had no individual small rooms. Instead, bookshelves lined all four walls, filled with books.
Looking up, one could see the three-story high ceiling with faint patterns visible.
The stairs were built right against the wall. The second and third floors were the same as the lobby, with bookshelves lining all four walls, packed with books.
This unobstructed view made one feel as if they were in an ocean of books.
Except...
"Achoo!"
This place hadn't been cleaned in who knows how long, it was full of the smell of dust.
For Zhou Yi, whose senses were enhanced and eyesight was too good, he could even see dust motes dancing in the air.
"This ocean of books is probably a polluted ocean."
There were too many books here, and Zhou Yi didn't have a specific goal in mind. He simply wandered around the first floor to see what was displayed.
"History of the Interstellar Alliance, read it."
"When Humanity Came From the Universe, read it."
"The Days We Said Goodbye to Earth, read it."
"Complete Collection of Huadun Principal's Deeds Throughout the Years? Interesting."
Zhou Yi picked up the book in his hand. It was clearly compiled by Huadun itself, containing the resumes and deeds of all principals since the school's founding, essentially simple biographies.
"Why is it that even the principal's wig being blown away by the wind during a school-wide speech is included??"
The more Zhou Yi read, the more amazed he became. What kind of school was Huadun? Books like this, containing so many embarrassing stories of the principals, were actually placed in the library?
After browsing around the first floor, Zhou Yi confirmed that the books there were basically simple introductions to the origins and history of various interstellar alliances, along with Huadun's own chronicles.
Those history books were not secrets; teachers had even covered them in class. Zhou Yi had already read them all.
As for Huadun's secrets, Zhou Yi skimmed a few and lost interest.
Other than indicating that Huadun was a school with an unbelievably open atmosphere, there was no useful information.
"No wonder there are so many books, and not a single valuable one."
Very dissatisfied with the first floor, Zhou Yi unhesitatingly went up to the second floor, hoping it would offer a surprise.
The layout and arrangement on the second floor were no different from the first. Each book looked older than Zhou Yi.
If there was any difference, it was probably that there was even more dust...
Zhou Yi walked along the bookshelves on the second floor, his eyes growing brighter with each step.
He couldn't help but pull out book after book and quickly flip through them.
This one is good!
He took out another one.
This one is also good!
Zhou Yi piled up the books he liked, quickly forming a small stack.
The second floor truly gave him a huge surprise!
If the books on the first floor were all ordinary historical records and school histories that could be found anywhere, then the second floor was entirely filled with reference books!
As everyone knows, military schools primarily train Mech warriors, and Mech warriors are divided into two types: Mech infantry and Mech masters.
Each military school has different ways of training students and teaches different content.
Almost all information about Mechs is classified, making it difficult to find on a Star Brain.
This is why Zhou Yi still knows so little about Mechs.
However, almost all the books on the second floor were about Mech studies, categorized in the most detailed way possible.
Not only were there materials for Mech infantry, but there were also many for Mech masters!
"Shouldn't this kind of information be a secret for every school? Huadun is so confident, just leaving it here in the library?"
Zhou Yi exclaimed in excitement, marveling again.
Huadun was truly a magical place.
Zhou Yi naturally wouldn't miss such a great opportunity. Since they were all reference books, he was too lazy to take them out one by one. He simply found the most basic introductory book and started reading.
Regarding Mechs, he was currently like a newly sprouted seed, with everything outside being incredibly novel to him.
Perhaps it was due to cultivating the Star Gathering Art and strengthening his senses, but Zhou Yi read very quickly, and the obscure content he had never encountered before entered his mind effortlessly.
He finished one book quickly.
Not enough, still not enough.
Like a dry young sprout receiving a drop of clear water, he now craved more.
Zhou Yi pulled out another book and continued reading, understanding and thinking as he did.
"So that's how it is. It's truly amazing, the world of Mechs is so incredible."
The pile of books he had finished reading grew larger at his feet. Zhou Yi seemed to have entered another world.
As he read on, he no longer bothered with a step-by-step, categorized approach. He grabbed a stack of books from the shelf and piled them beside him, then sat down on the floor, his entire being immersed in this vast ocean of knowledge.
All the new and novel information poured into Zhou Yi's mind. He used his own thinking to organize this knowledge, allowing himself to absorb and digest it rapidly, even drawing inferences and posing questions.
For questions he couldn't answer himself, he sought answers in the next book, and the book after that, achieving a comprehensive understanding.
Time ticked by, and Zhou Yi's reading speed increased, while the bookshelves before him became emptier.
The light gradually dimmed until Zhou Yi could no longer see the words on the pages. Only then did he finally stop.
Rubbing his sore eyes and his swollen brain, Zhou Yi finally closed the book in his hands.
This library was old and neglected. Not only did no one read or clean here, but over time, even all the lights had broken. When night fell, it too became dark.
Everything around him was dark, but at this moment, Zhou Yi's eyes shone with a frightening intensity.
He stood up and stretched his stiff body, preparing to return the books he had been reading to the shelf.
In just over half a day, he had finished an entire bookshelf.
Of course, he skipped over the parts that were repeated in the books, absorbing only the new knowledge and content from each one.
Zhou Yi looked around, very satisfied with his speed. With so many books on the second floor, the more he read towards the end, the more repetitive the knowledge would become.
At his current pace, he would eventually be able to finish them all.
"Hmm, what does this say?"
When he had first taken the books, his entire attention had been focused on their content. Now that he had cleared his head, he noticed for the first time that a line of text was written on the wall behind the now-empty bookshelf.
"Huadun, the birthplace of a miracle."
