Background / History
Family legacy and awakening
Zhou Yi is a transmigrant born into the declining Zhou family on a low-class Star Block. Her family preserved Star Weaver Master, Volume One, a manual left by the family's persecuted Star Weaver ancestor, while the second volume had been lost for generations. Her grandfather hid the book late in life, but left it intact rather than destroying it; Zhou Yi discovered it by chance. 2
Before her formal Awakening Test, Zhou Yi had already awakened a growth-type Star Weave with two Star Points. Knowing that multiple points marked her as a Chosen One, she intended to hide her talent until she could protect herself. During the test, she exploited the Awakening Pod's energy supply, emerging only after its core ran out and gaining a third Star Point. 3 5
Her early motivation was closely tied to her parents' financial situation. Their D-Class Star Block faced dissolution, and Zhou Yi sought ways to earn enough to help the family relocate. 3
Huadun and apprenticeship
After awakening, Zhou Yi deliberately enrolled at Huadun on a D-Class Star Block rather than immediately seeking powerful protection. There, she studied Mech combat and Mech construction while cultivating at night and practicing on damaged mechs in the library storage room. 25 327
She found Hao Wuduan's hidden inheritance book, How to Become an Excellent Star Weaver, which included a Star Treasure ring and a message declaring that anyone who mastered the book would become Hao Wuduan's disciple. 23 Zhou Yi formally became a Star Weaver after successfully inscribing her first defensive Star Weave on Little Red. 50 52
Public emergence and Shenzhou Star Block
Zhou Yi initially kept her identity secret while earning money through Hu Zhi's connections. Her first public commission—a Strength Star Weave for Hu Zhi's Heavy Mech—earned her one thousand High-Grade Crystal Stones. 117 119
After reaching the Advanced Star Weaver Master level, Zhou Yi's Star Weaves became visible on Xiao Bao during the Interstellar Competition. She publicly acknowledged her identity under a livestream, drawing attention from the Alliance, major families, and potential clients. 209
General Augus gifted Zhou Yi a Star Block, which she named Shenzhou Star Block. She developed it into a home, workshop, cultivation site, and settlement; after many Star Weavers relocated there, it became known as “Star Weaver Island.” 220 334
Zhou Qian's legacy
Zhou Yi learned that her ancestor, Zhou Qian, had been imprisoned by the Li Family for over seven centuries. His alleged crime was researching the reconstruction or alteration of Star Weaves—a technique no other Star Weaver had reliably reproduced. 74 300
She used her growing value to negotiate with the Alliance Committee, demanding assistance in rescuing Zhou Qian as a condition of cooperation. 306 Zhou Qian was eventually rescued, reunited with Zhou Yi and Hao Wuduan, and settled on Shenzhou Star Block. 331 332
Appearance
Zhou Yi began as thin and underfed, but her cultivation and mining work dramatically changed her physique. After two months of work on D98 Star Block, she stood 175 cm tall with well-proportioned muscles and a visibly stronger build. 71
- Her growth-type Star Weave appears on the back of her neck and can be concealed. 3
- Her parents note that she became taller, healthier, and prettier after studying at Huadun. 109
- On expeditions, she favors worn, waterproof athletic clothing and combat boots. 342
Personality
Zhou Yi is pragmatic, cautious, and highly self-reliant. She recognized early that revealing herself as a Star Weaver Master without sufficient strength would invite danger, so she concealed her abilities while accumulating resources, skill, and bargaining power. 14 50 119
She is intensely driven by visible progress. Zhou Yi treats cultivation, Mech modification, and Star Weave research as complementary pursuits, finding excitement rather than exhaustion in repeated cycles of depletion, recovery, and improvement. 194
Despite her ambition, she is not possessive of knowledge. She willingly allowed senior Star Weavers to study her Space Star Weave and Star Weave Reconstruction, believing that techniques capable of being learned should be shared rather than hoarded. 324 325
Her generosity is tempered by clear boundaries. She negotiates non-exclusive cooperation with the Alliance, asks for protection from the Li Family, and sets conditions for Star Weavers seeking residency on her Star Block. 218 333
Abilities & Skills
Growth-type Star Weave and cultivation
Zhou Yi possesses a growth-type Star Weave, making her a Chosen One whose Star Points and Star Power can continuously develop. 2 5
- Uses the Star Gathering Art to cultivate Star Power and improve her physical abilities. 2
- Can absorb Crystal Marrow energy directly into her sea of consciousness through her Space Ring. 51
- Her sea of consciousness grows through repeated depletion and replenishment, allowing unusually smooth breakthroughs with few bottlenecks. 194
- Entered a rare state of enlightenment while cultivating energy with the Star Gathering Art. 241
Star Weaving
Zhou Yi can inscribe Star Weaves onto Mechs, permanently sealing Star Power into the pattern as a functional enhancement. Her first successful work was a first-tier defensive Star Weave on Little Red. 50 52
- Draws basic Strength, Agility, and Defense Star Weaves, as well as special-attribute patterns. 95
- Advanced Strength Star Weaves can exceed 20% amplification; her later client work commonly reaches 20–30% amplification. 199 220
- Demonstrated Advanced Star Weaves with Time and Space attributes to Li Xin. 199
- Can complete only one Advanced Star Weave per day despite her increased efficiency. 220
- Advanced Star Weave drawing can nearly exhaust her Star Power, particularly during earlier stages of her advancement. 194
Star Weave Reconstruction
Zhou Yi developed Star Weave Reconstruction, also called Star Weave Repair: the ability to redraw over a failed Star Weave's original path and replace it with a new pattern. 324
- Reported a 90% repair success rate when negotiating with Tan Yu. 306
- Her repeated success stems from an exceptional trait: once she successfully draws a specific Star Weave, later attempts at that pattern do not fail. 300
- She restricts practical study of Reconstruction to Star Weavers with at least 8,000 Star Power. 325
- Initially accepted repair commissions exclusively from the Alliance as part of the agreement to rescue Zhou Qian. 319
Space Star Weaves
Zhou Yi specializes in Space-attribute Star Weaves, initially using one on Xiao Bao for storage before adapting the attribute for mobility. 244
- Developed a Space Star Weave that gives Mechs short-range movement or teleportation capability. 319
- Her early version required extremely high user ability; she could only barely control it through her natural Agility Attribute. 244
- The improved pattern significantly increases Mech Warriors' battlefield mobility and survival rate. 319
- She shared a Mech carrying the Space Star Weave with senior Star Weavers for research during the approaching interstellar war. 323 324
Mech Mastery
Zhou Yi is an unusually capable Mech Master alongside her Star Weaver work. 91 177
- Efficiently dismantles, reassembles, and modifies high-quality Mechs; at one point she produced an A-Class Mech per day. 91
- Repaired six damaged Mechs in under two hours by quickly identifying only the faults preventing normal operation. 177
- Refit more than thirty Mechs for the Shenzhou squads over five months, improving both their individual characteristics and Qiao Dong's technical ability. 319
- Treats her Mechs with personal affection, referring to them as her “babies.” 50
Mech combat
Though primarily a Star Weaver and Mech Master, Zhou Yi is also a trained Mech fighter.
- Learned orthodox Mech combat techniques under Qi Lan after relying initially on unpredictable, unorthodox tactics. 76
- Possesses strong predictive instincts in battle, though Gong Zhen cautioned her not to depend on prediction against unpredictable Star Beasts. 113
- Willingly acts as bait or enters dangerous areas herself when necessary, such as descending into a Star Beast nest on foot. 213
