When Li Jia saw Madara's expression ease slightly, he began introducing the others to him.
That old man was a Food System Soul Master. His martial soul was a steamed bun, and his cultivation had reached the Three-ring Soul Master realm. His talent was probably rather poor.
He had spent most of his life cultivating yet remained stuck at the three-ring level. That was the norm for most Soul Masters.
However, he possessed three spirit skills that could enhance his teammates. Coupled with his age and easygoing nature, his prestige within the Soul Hunting Group was second only to Li Jia's.
The other long-haired beauty, Lisa, had a fox martial soul. She was a level 29 Two-ring Soul Grandmaster and ranked third within the Soul Hunting Group.
The remaining one was Pan Chui, a level 28 Soul Grandmaster. But he fought with reckless abandon; even a newly advanced Three-ring Soul Master might be killed in a counterattack by him.
These were the core members of Li Jia's Lone Soul Hunting Group. Most of the rest were ordinary one- and two-ring Soul Masters, so there was no need to introduce them one by one.
"Brother, let me show you around!" Li Jia said warmly, patting Madara on the shoulder.
Madara did not move in the slightest, leaving the members of the Soul Hunting Group utterly astonished.
Having stayed with the Lone Soul Hunting Group for years, they naturally knew how strong their leader was—and how little he controlled his strength.
Even Pan Chui would not feel good after taking one of Li Jia's shoulder pats. Yet Madara had taken it so easily and still seemed to have strength to spare. Those who had looked down on Madara began to take his power seriously.
Li Jia appeared carefree and rough, but he was actually shrewd beneath the surface. Someone capable of leading an entire Soul Hunting Group could never be incompetent. With one small gesture, he had silently elevated Madara's standing.
Although Madara had no interest whatsoever, he still followed Li Jia to take a look around.
The heavy iron door slowly opened. Sunlight streamed through the crack in the storeroom door, casting two long shadows, one large and one small, across the ground.
"What is this?" Madara stepped out first, looking up at the iron cages piled all around him with some surprise.
"These are the Spirit Beasts we caught on our latest trip!" Li Jia said as he entered the storeroom after Madara.
Adorable little foxes with soft, snow-white fur were crammed densely into the cages.
Madara was somewhat confused and asked uncertainly, "They're all white foxes? And all Nine-Tails?"
"Snow Foxes, the favorite of noble ladies! We got lucky and caught a whole group of them some time ago!" Li Jia replied as he checked how sturdy the cages were.
From the name Snow Fox, it was clear that they were probably water- or ice-attributed Spirit Beasts.
Their pure white fur and adorable appearance made them pets that wealthy human ladies used to flaunt their riches.
Where there was trade, there was hunting. Naturally, many Soul Hunting Groups took on such profitable business.
Madara kicked a pebble by his foot and turned to ask, "Is that red fox one too?"
"Probably!" After finishing his inspection, Li Jia clapped his hands and explained, "We found it in the fox den. It was probably a mutant! Whoever stole it must have noticed it was unusual!"
When Li Jia and the others discovered this group of Snow Foxes, they had also pulled a red Nine-Tails fox from the den. Though it looked strange, they had brought it back anyway.
Madara understood. Amidst all that snow-white fur, the fiery red fox was exceptionally conspicuous. It had surely been stolen because it was special and might be worth more.
"Is it valuable?" Madara asked, raising a brow.
"Hahaha! Its price is hard to say, honestly!" Li Jia said indifferently, waving a hand.
"Then I'm keeping it," Madara said without hesitation, his tone firm.
"Fine. Since you like it, brother, it's yours!" Li Jia declared grandly with a wave of his hand.
Madara said nothing more, but silently remembered it. He would repay the favor someday.
"Little brother, how old are you?" Lisa played with her spoon at the dinner table, though her eyes drifted toward Madara.
"Still haven't learned your lesson?" Old Fury said reproachfully, setting his teacup down on the table.
Lisa usually called Old Fury Uncle, and Old Fury doted on her as a junior. Their relationship was much like that of a father and daughter.
The reason Old Fury had scolded her was actually to protect her, warning her not to provoke someone like Madara.
Old Fury stretched out his hand, flipped it over, and suddenly held a white steamed bun between his fingers as though performing a magic trick. "Young man, have a taste!"
Old Fury truly deserved his position as the person with the most prestige in the Soul Hunting Group after Li Jia. He cooperated perfectly to maintain the atmosphere.
Madara had long heard of Food System Soul Masters, who could use their food-type martial souls to provide all sorts of recovery effects and enhancements for their teammates.
Madara had always traveled alone, so he had naturally never witnessed the marvels of such a martial soul.
Madara took the steamed bun and examined it. It was basically no different from an ordinary steamed bun.
It was as though it had been created out of thin air!
Madara ate the steamed bun in a few bites and immediately felt something unusual within his body.
His Soul Power seemed to be recovering a little faster!
Madara circulated the Soul Power in his body in surprise and discovered that it was not only his Soul Power—his Chakra recovery had been enhanced as well.
"Your spirit skill can restore Soul Power!" Madara looked at Old Fury with burning interest, as though he had discovered something entertaining.
"Of course!" Old Fury paid Madara's gaze no mind. Stroking his beard, he said, "This is my First Spirit Skill, Recovery Steamed Bun!"
Madara now understood why a Food System Soul Master with no strength to truss a chicken could hold the position of second-in-command in the Soul Hunting Group.
And this was only his First Spirit Skill. He still had two more spirit skills he had not used!
For Old Fury to sit firmly in the second-in-command position, his remaining two spirit skills had to be even more powerful.
Beside them, Pan Chui wolfed down the steamed buns on the table without even raising his head.
Only Li Jia chatted and laughed with Madara at the table, showing no hint of distance.
The entire banquet ended in a quiet yet strange atmosphere.
After dinner, Madara returned to his room and closed his eyes, quietly reflecting on everything that had happened that day.
He had joined a Soul Hunting Group only because he wanted to fight more people.
Therefore, Madara would leave this place sooner or later and continue being his Lone Wolf.
Of course, before that, he would repay the value of the fox Li Jia had given him. Madara was not someone who wanted to owe others.
Most interesting of all, Madara had met a Food System Soul Master capable of creating food and witnessed the wondrous food-type martial soul that did not exist in the Shinobi World.
That was also the meaning of Madara's constant pursuit of strength: to witness sights stranger and more extraordinary than those in the Shinobi World.
The fiery red fox Madara had chosen was still locked in its cage, except it had been moved into Madara's room.
As Madara reflected, he gradually fell asleep. What he did not see was that the Nine-Tails fox, which had been cowering and trembling, suddenly opened its eyes—its blood-red eyes.
