Background / History

Han Li initially trained under Doctor Mo at Divine Hand Valley alongside Zhang Tie, believing the Evergreen Skill to be martial arts. Though he had only cultivated a faint trace of spiritual power, this revealed him to be an immortal cultivator and made him the intended target of Yu Zitong's body-seizure scheme. Dai Changsheng exposed the plot, killed Doctor Mo, and destroyed Yu Zitong's primordial spirit before the seizure could occur. 59

Following his rescue, Han Li chose to become Dai Changsheng's first personal disciple. Dai identified his aptitude as a four-attribute Pseudo Spiritual Root and gave him an annotated copy of the Evergreen Skill. 60

Dai Changsheng later arranged for Han Li's family to leave their impoverished village for a prepared residence in Qingniu Town, providing them with five hundred taels of gold. The gesture earned Han Li's deep loyalty. 62

Han Li entered Yellow Maple Valley with Zhang Tie, where he helped manage Dai Changsheng's Puppet Pavilion. He became responsible for receiving cultivator clients and auctioning the pavilion's puppets. 67 73

During the Bloody Trial, Han Li and Zhang Tie worked together using Foundation Establishment-stage sword puppets. When Fairy Hong Fu proposes that he become Dong Xuan'er's cultivation partner, Han Li questions why he was chosen rather than accepting the opportunity without thought. 103 He and Zhang Tie also refuse to form a team with Xiang Zhili during the Bloody Trial because they do not trust him. 89

Han Li is loyal to Dai Changsheng and regards him as both teacher and father. 107
