His genes hadn't been activated, so even with training and drinking, he still felt a bit dizzy.
Smack!
Zhao Xin flopped onto the sofa, covering his forehead. "No, I'm a bit dizzy. Let's rest, let's rest."
Liu Chuang, however, raised his cup again. "I'm still okay. Come on!"
He seemed to have an extraordinary tolerance for alcohol.
If only he weren't staring blankly at the television.
Pursing his lips, Han Fei checked the time. It was almost midnight.
Han Fei shook his hands and went to the bathroom to wash his face. The cold water splashed on his face, and his mind suddenly cleared.
"Huh? I haven't fished out today's bottles yet."
Because he had chosen a special ability, he always kept a basin of water and a bathtub full of water at home.
So Han Fei could start fishing right away.
But which one should he fish out first?
Han Fei rubbed his chin, pondered for a moment, and decided to test the waters first.
He reached his hand into the basin.
The moment the water covered his hand, Han Fei's hand felt like it had entered a bottomless ocean, with no discernible boundary. When he had tested his abilities before, he had even put his head in, but it seemed only his hand could enter that endless ocean.
He shook his hand left and right.
Suddenly, he felt something solid in his hand, as if he had grasped something.
Bang!
He pulled it out.
It was still the familiar glass bottle.
He pulled out the cork.
And poured it out.
All his movements were practiced and familiar.
He had repeated this action countless times.
"What is this?"
It looked like a piece of machinery.
And it was glowing.
He vaguely sensed that this thing was very dangerous, and his body felt a prickling sensation, a warning from his instincts.
He blinked.
Han Fei looked at the bottle. There was nothing inside.
However, there was a chip on this suspected piece of machinery. Perhaps he could study it and find out what it was.
He set it aside for now.
Han Fei then reached his hand towards the main event of the night.
The bathtub.
It was still that bottomless feeling.
Fish.
I fish.
The familiar sensation.
He pulled out the cork.
The usual routine.
But.
"Holy crap! A golden legendary?!"
What came out of the bottle were six angular stones, looking like models, with simple animal crests carved on them.
Han Fei was ecstatic.
He was very familiar with this thing!
Too familiar!
There was an anime, where a villain, who spanned the entire plot.
He was nerfed again and again, sealed since ancient times, his fire origin split, his wisdom ground away, his magic forgotten, his dragon teeth pulled, his twelve divine powers sealed, and he was turned into a stone statue. Yet, he remained the most powerful demon in that world.
And these six little things were one of its powers, six of the twelve divine powers.
That's right, this pathetic villain was called the Holy Lord.
From a strange world where black and white energy balanced each other.
Han Fei took out six talismans.
He discovered that these six talismans were:
The Rooster Talisman, granting divine power of levitation.
The Horse Talisman, granting divine power of restoration.
The Ox Talisman, granting divine power of strength.
The Rat Talisman, granting divine power of life.
The Dog Talisman, granting divine power of immortality.
The Sheep Talisman, granting divine power of the soul.
One could say each was a bug-level ability.
It was a shame they were all in talisman form. While this allowed anyone to use them, they couldn't unleash their full power. This was a seal, Lopè's seal on the Holy Lord.
And they weren't even complete, only half.
A slight imperfection, you could say.
However, even so, Han Fei felt sufficiently invigorated.
Especially the Dog and Horse talismans, one representing immortality, the other healing. With these two.
I can go talk to the god of death, Karl, and ask him if he's a fart god!
Alright, it's still a bit uncertain.
Void definitions and supercomputer analyses still make me a bit nervous.
And it's uncertain if things from other worlds will change here.
After all, this is a sci-fi (probably) world.
But to be able to draw out such good things.
Is it because today is New Year's Eve?
Han Fei thought nonsensically in his mind.
Regardless, with these six talismans, plus the Wind Eagle Armor, the Eight Extremes Heaven, and the things he'd collected over the years, there was no doubt.
He now possessed the ability to protect himself.
It wasn't easy.
He had awakened so many years ago, and only now, finally, did he feel some sense of security.
No longer needing to worry about being obliterated by a solar flare, or vanishing with a single Heavenly Blade judgment.
Han Fei wiped his eyes. "No, it's still not safe. God-Slaying Weapons, Void Weapons, Stellar Detonation, Concept Definition—those brats from the Super God world research nothing but destructive things. I can't get reckless; I need to lie low!"
Composing himself, Han Fei put everything away and walked out of the restroom again.
Zhao Xin and Liu Chuang were already back to their energetic selves, drinking on the sofa.
The dishes on the table were steaming; it looked like Aunt Wu had reheated them.
Han Fei's lips curved into a smile. "Why didn't you wait for me? Count me in!"
He went over.
"Come, a toast to Brother Fei."
"If it weren't for Brother Fei, I, I would still be that fool who wanted to uphold justice but was about to degenerate into a petty hoodlum. Unlike now, I've made something of myself and even achieved my dreams!"
"Yeah, a toast. If it weren't for Boss, I'd still be wandering aimlessly as a thug, maybe never escaping that mire, forever a scumbag. Boss gave me this chance, changed my life. I can go back home now, sob..."
Liu Chuang, a grown man, couldn't help but cry.
Han Fei said nothing, just raised his glass, tilted his head back, and drank it all down.
He had already changed the destinies of many people since coming to this world. So far, the results were pretty good.
Crack! Crack! Crack!
Fireworks bloomed.
Brilliant colors covered the sky, a scene of festivity.
It was midnight.
A new year had arrived.
2012.
A timely snow promises a good harvest.
It snowed the next day.
A heavy snowfall at that.
The weather had become unusually cold.
Of course, for someone like Han Fei, who was already becoming inhuman, it didn't matter.
Here he was.
Han Fei came out for his morning run wearing only a shirt.
Although this kind of exercise wasn't very useful anymore, exercise was like rowing against the current; persistence itself was a test.
"Okay, ten kilometers finished."
Putting on his jacket, Han Fei drove his car to the training base.
He couldn't wait to experiment with the power of the Talismans.
It was already difficult enough for him to control his desires and follow his habits when he woke up in the morning. Now that he had finished his run, his first thought was to try them out.
Right, besides the Talismans, he had also given that strange mechanical object from last night to the researchers to study. He wondered if they had figured anything out yet.
Han Fei thought subconsciously.
It was just that.
Before he could even start the car.
Black Star's voice and others began playing from his phone.
"Master, Lab No. 2 completed your urgent project, that strange mechanical device, at five this morning. The message they sent, according to your set priority level, was to inform you only after your morning run."
He opened his mouth, unsure where to even begin spitting out his complaints.
Never mind.
He wouldn't dwell on it.
"Tell them to wait, I'll be there shortly."
"Yes."
