Lin Yan also scanned the surroundings in a guarded stance. Even if he was not a Servant, he could still detect traces of magical energy. Yet he found nothing he could sense.
After a while, Ruler seemed to relax her guard, her shoulders loosening.
"I detected a Servant's presence. It's just rather far from here. It's probably not a 'Black' Servant, since the distance is too great for such a precise reading."
"A 'Red' Servant?"
"Yes. But it doesn't look like they intend to charge in alone. They're probably here to observe us or for some other purpose."
Even a single Servant posed a threat. Ruler sent telepathic messages to Archer of "Black" and Rider of "Black," urging them to stay alert.
"What a nuisance. If they barge in and interfere while we're fighting Assassin, it'll undoubtedly cause chaos."
Ruler's expression darkened. She had considered using a Command Spell, but Shirou on the other side had surely prepared countermeasures for that possibility.
"Still, if they're only observing us, they'll likely just watch from the sidelines. As long as we don't expose any openings while fighting Assassin, they probably won't act rashly."
"I suppose all we can do is pray."
Ruler touched her neck, then frowned and looked up at the sky. It had already turned dark purple, and a chilling wind swept through the streets.
"The air's getting cold. It's going to rain."
At her words, Lin Yan looked up as well. Sure enough, thick rain clouds were beginning to cover the sky. A cold raindrop landed on his nose.
"You didn't bring an umbrella either, did you?"
"Unfortunately not. Still, it looks like it'll only be a light rain."
The raindrops were indeed small, and the rainfall was weak. Yet visibility immediately worsened.
"Aren't you going to change clothes?"
