By manipulating the children through vengeful spirits, Assassin gradually separated Ruler from Lin Yan. While throwing scalpels, she slowly maneuvered Lin Yan toward a spot where she could kill him in a single strike.
Ruler was purifying the vengeful spirits possessing the children one by one.
But there were far too many children, and more importantly, even if the vengeful spirits were purified, they would not lose their value as hostages. Protecting them would be easier after driving out the spirits, but only to that extent.
During this process, Ruler came to a realization.
"Lin Yan! Get back over here!"
Hearing her voice, Lin Yan finally became alert. Blocked by the attacking children, he and Ruler had been completely separated.
Even if she wanted to protect Lin Yan from Assassin's attacks, she could not ensure his safety in an instant with more than a dozen children forming a human wall in front of her.

An archer from Asgard. The arrow unleashed by "Black" Archer Chiron tore through the dense fog blanketing the entire city like a ferocious shark.
By the time they noticed it, it was already too late. The arrow, filled with immense magical energy, exploded like a grenade. Its power was so great that even Lin Yan was caught in the blast and thrown far away. As for Assassin, who took the hit directly, part of her body was violently gouged away.
"Guh!"
