He craved darkness.

Malekith looked at Loki with contempt.
His eyes were bloodshot. Hatred was the greatest driving force.
So what if Bor was dead? So what if Odin was dead? He would make all of Asgard pay for their mistakes.
"Let darkness descend!"
Malekith threw back his head and laughed madly.
In Loki's horrified eyes, he saw a scene that made his blood run cold.
Darkness stretched out like demonic claws from hell and swallowed a soldier.
The soldier's body was completely corrupted by darkness.
He became a Dark Elf soldier.
Screams rang out, echoing without end.
Asgard's already exhausted soldiers suddenly grew excited, their eyes turning completely black.
They lost even their most basic reason.
The Dark Elf soldiers born from the darkness joined Malekith's army one after another. They all became part of the invading force.
"Loki, you can no longer defend Asgard.
Give up."
Malekith watched the despondent Loki, a mocking smile blooming on his lips. He wanted to see Asgard's king reduced to such a wretched state.
Though what he wanted even more was to see Bor kneeling before him, looking humble, pathetic, and miserable.
Facing Malekith,
Loki was disheveled, but he refused to bow his head. His eyes were full of resolve. "Malekith, do
