Today, I transferred some money into a bank card I hadn't used in a very long time—about two years. I was planning to withdraw it as cash for Lunar New Year red envelopes for the younger generation, but I ran into a bizarre situation: I couldn't get the money out. Transfers, top-ups, purchases—none of them worked. I could see the money, but my available balance was zero.
The reason was probably that the card had gone unused for so long that it was in the process of being cleared and canceled. I called customer service, but they could only restore its non-counter service permissions. I still couldn't withdraw the money, and they told me I had to handle it at the counter. But to go to the counter, I'd have to cross provinces, since it was a Zhejiang-Shanghai commercial bank. It was giving me a huge headache.
I spent the whole afternoon dealing with this. So annoying.
This month had been ridiculously unlucky. First, the gold bracelet I bought for my wife got lost in less than a month.
