Though the seabed was deep, how could it be deeper than the human heart?
And what was the human heart like?
How could anyone who had not experienced the unfathomable depths of the human heart firsthand ever truly know?
In truth, more than a thousand years had passed since the Land of Calamity came into existence. By now, changes that even Bodhidharma had never anticipated should long since have taken place.
After all, Bodhidharma had already passed away. How could he have foreseen what would happen a thousand years later?
Yet by chance, Bodhidharma's Heavenly Eye not only reached throughout heaven and earth, but could also vaguely perceive the past and present of the world.
More than a thousand years ago, he had already used the Heavenly Eye to see through to certain terrifying events that might occur a thousand years later. That was why he had fallen into such despair that he went mad and broke down. After instructing his future disciples that they must destroy the calamity, he passed away completely.
The cause behind the terrifying events Bodhidharma foresaw was the human heart.
Rather than saying that the Cataclysm Weapon was a terrifying thing capable of overturning the world, it would be more accurate to say that the human heart itself was a calamity capable of overturning the world.
The changes in human hearts had made the calamity, which should have remained buried deep beneath the sea, increasingly dangerous. They were the fuse that triggered changes in the calamity and caused it to erupt completely.
Whether it was the greed that drove people to seek the Land of Calamity or the malicious intent to exploit the calamity, both were human hearts guiding the calamity's development.
