I've seen readers asking about this fairly often, so let me explain.
When this fastest read-through feature first came out, we discussed it in the authors' group, and some editors talked about it too. It isn't accurate.
Why? Because it seems that different IP devices and such show different numbers of people who finished the latest chapter the fastest after turning the last page.
Also, if I reached the last page and exited the book directly instead of turning to the page that popped up showing the fastest readers, then my read wouldn't be counted, so some people would be missing from the total.
That's why you often saw that after ten or twenty hours had passed, the fastest read-through count was only a few dozen or a hundred people.
But that wasn't actually the case. Otherwise, I basically wouldn't be able to afford food, let alone keep writing.
Sometimes, just a few minutes after a chapter was posted, quite a few readers had already checked in and left comments. Yet when other readers went to read it later, it still showed them as the first to finish. That meant the data wasn't recorded accurately; the calculation method seemed pretty chaotic. So there was no need to take it seriously.
