Power Progression

History

The Su Family is a hereditary Count House of the Star Luo Empire. Each generation's family head also serves as the count and city lord of Luo City. Before the family’s later rise, its power declined sharply after the death of its only Soul Douluo, leaving several Soul Sages as its highest combatants. 1 21

Su Muyue's marriage into the Qin Family cost the Su Family nearly half its assets as dowry. Her resources helped Qin Hao rise within his own clan, including obtaining a thirty-thousand-year sixth Soul Ring; after the Su Family's decline, however, Qin Hao attempted to eliminate Su Muyue and Su Luo while seeking to divert her dowry toward Qin Teng. 1 99

Unable to openly retaliate across imperial borders, the Su Family initially lacked the power to demand redress from the Qin Family. This changed after Su Luo began using alchemy to strengthen the clan, beginning with the Three-pattern Azure Spirit Pill and high-grade Soul Ring resources. 21 78 79

By the time Su Luo returned to lead the family’s revenge, the Su Family could field five Soul Douluos, twenty Soul Sages, and fifty Soul Emperors. It split its forces to strike the Qin and Chang Families in the Heaven Spirit Empire, overwhelming both clans and capturing their members alive. 117 118 119

After its military rise, elements of the family sought greater political status. The elders ultimately forced Emperor Xu Jiawei’s abdication and installed Su Muyue as Star Luo Empress, making the Su Family the empire’s ruling house. 170 171 177

Otherworld Gate Martial Soul

The Su Family’s inherited Martial Soul is the Otherworld Gate, a mutated summoning-type Martial Soul.

• The mutation occurred several hundred years earlier when an ancestor hunted a Soul Ring; instead of summoning the slain Soul Beast, the gate began summoning unknown creatures from another world. 6
• Soul Rings function as “keys” rather than as sources tied to a specific Soul Beast. The original Soul Beast’s attributes are effectively erased, and the summoned creature is largely unrelated to the hunted beast. 31
• Summons cannot be controlled as reliably as those produced by ordinary Summoning Gates. 6
• A summon’s strength depends on the age of its Soul Ring rather than the hunted Soul Beast’s bloodline. Even a weak Soul Beast can provide a ring capable of summoning a high-quality creature of the same age tier. 6 118
• The creatures generally match lion-type or tiger-type Soul Beasts of the same age and are exceptionally strong in battles between peers. 6
• Family members are battle-type Soul Masters who fight through summons, but their own bodies are comparatively frail, resembling auxiliary-type Soul Masters. 24
• Most members possess only Rank 5–7 Innate Soul Power; Rank 8 is exceptionally rare. Their cultivation speed is comparable to food-type Soul Masters, historically preventing the family from producing a Title Douluo. 98 118

• High-grade eighth rings dramatically improve the family’s combat ability because the Otherworld Gate converts ring age directly into summon quality. 98 118

Decline and the Qin Family Conflict

After losing its only Soul Douluo, the Su Family could not protect Su Muyue from the Qin Family’s schemes or recover her dowry by force. The Qin Family and its allies viewed the clan as a weakened Soul Sage family, particularly because the Su Family’s slow cultivation made future recovery seem unlikely. 1 21 98

Alchemical Restoration

Su Luo gathered the clan’s Otherworld Gate descendants and used alchemy to improve their cultivation in bulk. Su Xing’s breakthrough to Soul Douluo and acquisition of a ninety-thousand-year eighth ring marked the end of the family’s immediate vulnerability. 79 80

Destruction of the Qin and Chang Families

The strengthened family divided into two attack forces. One detained the Qin Family while Su Luo, Su Muyue, and other elites attacked the Chang Family; both targets were overwhelmed by the Su Family’s superior numbers, high-grade rings, and mass summons. 117 118 119

Ascension to the Star Luo Throne

With its growing number of high-level Soul Masters and Title Douluo-level combat power, the Su Family concluded that remaining a Count House no longer matched its strength. After Su Luo refused the throne, the elders selected Su Muyue, forced Xu Jiawei’s abdication, and made her empress. 170 171 177
