Background / History

Xiao Yan's cultivation collapsed when Yao Chen's soul began absorbing his Dou Qi through the Storage Ring left by Xiao Yan's mother. With only third-stage Dou Qi, he was unable to challenge Nalan Yanran after her advancement to Dou Master. Xiao Xun'er sought Su Luo's help, leading Su Luo to expose Yao Chen's presence and negotiate directly with him. 198 199

Yao Chen ultimately became Xiao Yan's teacher and gave him the Flame Mantra, a cultivation method capable of evolving through absorbed flames. Su Luo also agreed to protect Xiao Yan and assist with Yao Chen's eventual revival. 201

Xiao Yan absorbed the Dry Blue Water Flame, a Beast Fire from the Ghost Sea Flood Dragon Beast, restoring his confidence and improving the Flame Mantra. He later defeated Jia Lie'ao and Jia Lie Bi, contributing to the Jia Lie Family's downfall. 242 243

Under Yao Chen's instruction, Xiao Yan became a Fourth-grade Alchemist, won the Jia Ma Empire Alchemist Competition, and refined Three-pattern Azure Spirit Pills for the Xiao Family.
