Breaking Down the Door

The moment the gunshot rang out, Lin Qiye abruptly raised his head.

He was currently at the place where the thugs had last appeared on the surveillance footage, swiftly searching the surroundings with Mental Power. Upon hearing the gunshot, his brow immediately furrowed.

The shot had come from not far away, also within the western part of the city.

A massive impact struck from behind. Yurina crashed heavily to the ground with a muffled groan, her back burning with pain.

She lay on the ground, her eyes dazed as the ringing still echoed beside her ears.

The thugs rushed forward and dragged Yurina up from the ground. Iwami Yusuke held a revolver as he narrowed his eyes and walked up to her.

His gaze swept over Yurina's body, but he saw no wounds or bloodstains.

"Didn't hit her... did she fall from fright?" he muttered.

His original intention in firing had merely been to stop Yurina from escaping, not to shoot her dead. If she really died, he would be completely finished too. So when he fired, he had deliberately aimed for a nonfatal spot.

Though his hand had shaken and he missed, the result was still the same.

"You little bitch, you've got some guts, huh? You actually dared to plot against me." Iwami Yusuke stepped forward, grabbed her hair, and glared viciously into Yurina's eyes. "If you've got the nerve, keep running."
