Background / History

Zhu Zhuqing is a noble of the Zhu family, the Star Luo Empire’s royal aristocracy. The Zhu family traditionally intermarried with the imperial Dai family to preserve the status of both houses, and Zhu Zhuqing was engaged to Dai Mubai from childhood. 97 197

The Star Luo succession system placed her in a lethal rivalry with her elder sister, Zhu Zhuyun. Only one sister could become Empress; the other faced imprisonment or death. Zhu Zhuyun had suppressed Zhu Zhuqing since childhood, leaving Zhu Zhuqing fearful that her sister would ultimately kill her. 114

While travelling alone to the Heaven Dou Empire in search of Dai Mubai, Zhu Zhuqing was ambushed by black-clothed agents of the Zhu family. Despite a pierced left arm and being outnumbered, she continued fighting until Bai Ying intervened and killed her attackers. 39 40

Bai Ying then used a Slave Seal on her, forcibly making her his servant. Zhu Zhuqing resisted his control, attempted to attack him with Netherworld Stab, and later attempted to escape or die rather than submit. 40 41 42 Her relationship with Bai Ying gradually changed; she joined his group and ultimately chose to sever her engagement to Dai Mubai. 44 47

Zhu Zhuqing is described as cold and alluring, with a pale, delicate face and a poised but severe bearing. Her black, tight-fitting clothing accentuates her figure, while her cold temperament is compared to winter plum blossoms. 39 113

Beneath her reserved exterior, she carries deep anxiety over her family’s succession struggle and her former engagement. She nevertheless refuses to flee from her sister, deciding that she will confront and defeat Zhu Zhuyun herself. 114 Her resolve is also evident when she faces Dai Weisi, declaring that she no longer belongs to the Star Luo Empire and demanding that he pay for what was done to her. 172

Ambush and Rescue

Zhu Zhuqing is attacked by agents connected to the Zhu family while travelling to find Dai Mubai. Injured but unyielding, she is saved by Bai Ying, who identifies himself as the Spirit Hall’s Saint Son. 39

Servitude and Resistance

After the rescue, Bai Ying places the Slave Seal on Zhu Zhuqing and claims her as his servant. Zhu Zhuqing repeatedly resists, attacks him with Netherworld Stab, and vows to kill him when she can break free. 40 41

Break with Dai Mubai

Zhu Zhuqing encounters Dai Mubai at the Rose Grand Hotel and sees him with other women. She decides to end their engagement, later stating that she and Bai Ying are in love. 45 47 48
