Background

The Dragon Race expanded its population through widespread intermarriage with other races. Its descendants inherit varying degrees of dragon blood, often becoming stronger than their original race; over time, entire original populations can be displaced by dragon-blooded descendants. This produced an enormous but highly diverse and internally fragmented racial system. 287

Long-running internal competition divided the race geographically into the Eastern and Western Dragon Courts. Yuanshi Tianzun retaliated by invading Dragon Nests, destroying dragon eggs and nests, and defeating Ra, the Winged Dragon of the Sun. The crisis threatened the Western Dragon Court's Ancestral Court until the Elder Council intervened. 287 288
