Ch. 221Everything Is for Konohagakure

After dividing up Roshi and capturing the Four-Tails, Kazuna returned to Konohagakure and learned that Kakashi’s Sharingan had been stolen by someone he identified as Obito. Meanwhile, Hiruko plotted to exploit the Tailed Beasts and start a conflict, while Itachi urged Hiruzen Sarutobi to act against Kazuna.

  • Kazuna extracted some of the Four-Tails’ power, sealed it in the Ten-Tails husk, then captured the freed beast and left with Roshi’s corpse taken by Obito.
  • Hiruko planned to use the Two-Tails, Three-Tails, and Four-Tails to provoke the great shinobi villages into conflict and create an opening to attack Kazuna.
  • Kazuna returned to Konohagakure, learned Kakashi’s Sharingan had been stolen by someone Kakashi said was Obito, and ordered the village’s security strengthened.
  • Itachi visited Hiruzen Sarutobi and claimed Kazuna’s stockpile of Explosive Tags showed that he was preparing for war.
  • Hiruzen Sarutobi urged Itachi to remain patient and asked whether he could trust him; Itachi answered that everything he did was for Konohagakure.

Ch. 222An Eye's Gone? No Big Deal!

Itachi gave Hiruzen Sarutobi intelligence about Uchiha Kazuna’s plans, while Hiruzen secretly reviewed the Konoha Collapse Plan. Kazuna visited Kakashi in the hospital and offered him either an ordinary eye or a Sharingan, then learned that other shinobi villages had been told he possessed three Tailed Beasts.

  • Hiruzen Sarutobi questioned Itachi about Danzo and heard Itachi support joining forces against Kazuna, then received Itachi’s detailed intelligence about the Uchiha.
  • After Itachi left, Hiruzen entered a hidden room and stared at a document titled Konoha Collapse Plan, worrying that Konohagakure might fall into Uchiha hands.
  • Kazuna visited Kakashi in the hospital, dismissed Kakashi’s claim that he had seen Obito, and offered to replace his lost eye with either an ordinary eye or a Three Tomoe Sharingan.
  • Rasa received a confidential letter and secretly alerted Kazuna while making minor adjustments to Sunagakure’s troop deployments.
  • Kazuna received a message that the Two-Tails, Three-Tails, and Four-Tails were in his hands, and Kurenai reacted in shock when he explained the news.

Ch. 223Danzo and Orochimaru

Kazuna prepared for the other ninja villages to challenge Konohagakure over rumors that he had captured three Tailed Beasts. Meanwhile, Orochimaru’s experiment left Danzo able to recover, and the two discussed cooperating against Kazuna.

  • Kurenai warned Kazuna that the other villages would not ignore his capture of the Two-Tails, Three-Tails, and Four-Tails, but Kazuna refused to return them.
  • Uzuki Uzumaki told Kazuna that the other villages were sending envoys, and Kazuna assigned Yazo to handle them while ordering Anbu to hunt for spies.
  • Orochimaru told Danzo that his experiment had balanced Danzo’s body, fused Hashirama Cells more thoroughly, and introduced some Uchiha Dojutsu.
  • Danzo and Orochimaru argued over working together, and Danzo threatened to reveal Orochimaru’s secrets before agreeing to summon his subordinates.
  • Danzo proposed that he and Orochimaru cooperate against Uchiha Kazuna, and Orochimaru asked how he wanted to proceed.

Ch. 224Konoha's Strange New Character

Kumogakure envoy Urusu and representatives from the other villages were stunned by Konoha’s rapid growth and its increasingly martial culture. As four shinobi villages and the Land of Fire’s Daimyo became involved, Kazuna prepared for a confrontation while Yazo pledged to defend him and Konoha.

  • Urusu arrived in Konoha and watched its citizens punish a thief, its shinobi fight in public, and its guide explain Kazuna’s training policies.
  • Yazo received envoys Urusu, Kitsuchi, Pakura, and Ao, along with an envoy from the Land of Fire’s Daimyo, as Konoha’s growing independence caused concern.
  • Kazuna told Yazo to send the Daimyo’s envoy and two village delegations away, while Yazo warned that she would kill anyone who threatened him or Konoha.
  • Kazuna reassured Yazo that he would handle their enemies and revealed his Mangekyo Sharingan; Yazo recalled that she and Karin could help restore his strength.
  • The village envoys and Daimyo’s representatives began visiting one another to plan against Konoha, while some shinobi secretly contacted Hiruzen Sarutobi.

Ch. 225I, Openly and Honestly, Alone!

Kazuna confronted the Daimyo’s Messenger and the village representatives, asserting Konohagakure’s authority while refusing to return the Tailed Beasts he had bought from Akatsuki. The meeting ended with the other villages realizing that Kazuna held the Two-Tails, Three-Tails, and Four-Tails, adding to Konohagakure’s Nine-Tails and raising fears about his intentions.

  • Kazuna kicked the Daimyo’s Messenger out of the secondary seat and ordered him to sit in a corner, then rebuffed Urusu’s challenge about Konohagakure’s loyalty to the Land of Fire.
  • Kazuna declared the Uchiha the noblest clan and challenged the other villages’ clans, while Itachi offered to fight Kirigakure’s clans on the Uchiha’s behalf.
  • Kazuna accused Hiruzen Sarutobi’s era of letting the Senju Clan disappear, leaving Hiruzen and Tsunade unable to refute his claim.
  • Kazuna admitted that he had bought Iwagakure’s Four-Tails from Akatsuki and rejected Kitsuchi’s demand to return it.
  • Kazuna also admitted he had bought Kumogakure’s Two-Tails, while challenging Ao’s claim that the Three-Tails belonged to Kirigakure.
  • The village representatives realized Kazuna possessed the Two-Tails, Three-Tails, and Four-Tails, while Konohagakure already held the Nine-Tails.

Ch. 226Overwhelming Pressure

Uchiha Kazuna confronted Kumogakure and Iwagakure over their demands for the Tailed Beasts, while Hiruzen Sarutobi tried to oppose war and preserve his influence. Kazuna exposed Hiruzen’s past sacrifice of Hizashi Hyuga and then offered Urusu and Kitsuchi two choices, leaving them wary that war might still follow.

  • Urusu and Kitsuchi threatened war over the Two-Tails, and Kazuna accepted the prospect of fighting while reserving words for Ao and Pakura.
  • Hiruzen Sarutobi argued that the Tailed Beasts maintained balance and warned that war would cost many lives, but Kazuna challenged his reliance on previous Hokage’s decisions.
  • Kazuna invoked the Hyuga Clan’s loss of Hizashi Hyuga and accused Hiruzen of cowardice for sacrificing others in the name of peace.
  • Kazuna asked Hiruzen whether he would sacrifice his own son, and Hyuga Hiashi publicly challenged Hiruzen when he fell silent.
  • Kazuna offered Urusu and Kitsuchi two choices, and the two representatives considered whether to secure the Tailed Beasts before fighting anyway.

Ch. 227I'm Not That Shallow

Uchiha Kazuna rejected calls to return the Tailed Beasts and challenged Kumogakure and Iwagakure to choose between war and buying information about Akatsuki. After exposing Hiruzen Sarutobi’s past compromises and the Sarutobi Clan’s wealth, Kazuna agreed to sell the Two-Tails and Four-Tails for 200 million ryo each, but demanded a public guarantee from the Raikage and Tsuchikage.

  • Kazuna told Urusu and Kitsuchi that their choices were war or buying Akatsuki information for 100 million ryo, while Hiruzen Sarutobi accused him of provoking war.
  • Kazuna cited Kumogakure’s seizure of the Byakugan and pointed out that Ao of Kirigakure carried a Byakugan from Konohagakure, challenging Hiruzen Sarutobi’s arguments about ownership and peace.
  • Kazuna condemned Hiruzen Sarutobi’s leadership and accused the Sarutobi, Shimura, Mito, and Mitokado families of holding vast wealth, leaving Hiruzen unable to answer questions about the Sarutobi Clan’s nearly four thousand ninja.
  • Urusu and Kitsuchi offered to buy the Two-Tails and Four-Tails, and Kazuna named a price of 200 million ryo for each.
  • Kazuna agreed to sell the Tailed Beasts but handed Urusu and Kitsuchi a scroll of insults, demanding that the Raikage and Tsuchikage publicly acknowledge its contents as a guarantee.

Ch. 228Tearing Off the Mask

Kazuna's harsh terms kept Kumogakure and Iwagakure from securing an alliance with Sunagakure and Kirigakure, so Urusu and Kitsuchi began planning a show of force against Konohagakure. The chapter left their coalition divided, with Rasa secretly considering betrayal and Ao carrying Mei Terumi's letter to Kazuna.

  • Kazuna refused to sell Tailed Beasts unless Kumogakure and Iwagakure accepted humiliating terms, and Urusu and Kitsuchi left the meeting without an agreement.
  • Pakura and Ao explained that Sunagakure and Kirigakure would not openly join the alliance against Konohagakure, citing their interests and weakness.
  • Kitsuchi and Urusu proposed war to pressure Konohagakure into handing over four Tailed Beasts and 100 million ryo per village, while Pakura and Ao said they would consider it.
  • The Raikage and Ōnoki approved preparations for a possible war, while Rasa told Pakura he would join the attack and then discussed betraying the coalition to help Konohagakure.
  • Ao secretly left his lodging carrying Mei Terumi's letter and headed for the Hokage's office.

Ch. 229For Peace

Kazuna negotiated Kirigakure’s neutrality, heard Pakura’s plan to remain in Konohagakure, and prepared for war with Iwagakure and Kumogakure. After agreeing to a Kage Summit in the Land of Iron, he explained to Kakashi why he believed the conflict was unavoidable and ordered him to prepare.

  • Ao offered Kirigakure’s Byakugan as proof of sincerity, and Kazuna took it before negotiating terms that left Kirigakure neutral and open to trade.
  • Pakura told Kazuna she would stay in Konohagakure as an envoy, then warned him that Iwagakure and Kumogakure were preparing to attack.
  • Kazuna explained that Hiruzen Sarutobi had retreated into the Sarutobi compound and said he would monitor him while guiding public opinion.
  • The Five Great Shinobi Villages agreed to hold a Kage Summit in the Land of Iron, while Kazuna divided Konohagakure’s shinobi into four divisions.
  • Kakashi questioned Kazuna about the coming war, and Kazuna argued that other villages sought to limit Konohagakure’s growth before ordering Kakashi to prepare.

Ch. 230Each Takes Action

Kakashi learned that Kazuna intended to go to war and joined Guy in gathering materials for the Hokage Rock. Kazuna prepared Konohagakure for conflict as the other villages weighed their responses, leaving the Fourth Shinobi World War imminent.

  • Kakashi told Guy that Kazuna was determined to fight, and Guy proposed preparing early to reduce losses before challenging Kakashi to gather Hokage Rock materials.
  • Shisui urged Kazuna to kill Hiruzen Sarutobi, but Kazuna said Hyuga ninja would monitor the village and assigned the Uchiha Jonin their duties.
  • Kazuna ordered Yazo to summon the ninja clan leaders and civilian ninja representatives for a prewar meeting, and said Konohagakure would keep the Nine-Tails out of battle.
  • The Raikage ordered Kumogakure to prepare for war despite uncertainty about Kirigakure and Sunagakure, while Ōnoki ordered Iwagakure to prepare to attack both Konohagakure and Sunagakure.
  • Mei Terumi decided Kirigakure would not fight over the Three-Tails and questioned the need to deploy Tailed Beasts.

Ch. 231Kage Summit

As the Fourth Shinobi World War approached, Uchiha Kazuna prepared Konohagakure's forces and traveled to the Land of Iron for a Kage Summit. The other Kage arrived without him, and they began to suspect that Kazuna was planning trouble.

  • Kazuna rejected Yazo's request to join the battlefield and appointed her Acting Hokage, leaving her to oversee Konohagakure and handle any move by Hiruzen Sarutobi.
  • Kazuna planned to deploy ten thousand ninja, including nearly three hundred Jonin, and assigned forces to strike Kumogakure and Iwagakure.
  • Kazuna traveled to the Land of Iron with Kakashi and Might Guy, warning them to protect themselves and forbidding Might Guy from using the Eighth Gate.
  • Ōnoki, the Raikage, Mei Terumi, and Rasa arrived for the Kage Summit, but Mifune reported that Kazuna had not been found in the Land of Iron.
  • The four Kage questioned where Kazuna was and suspected that he was preparing another scheme.

Ch. 232As Long as I'm Not Embarrassed

Kazuna arrived a day late to the Kage Summit and provoked the other leaders until they abandoned their demand that Konohagakure surrender three Tailed Beasts and pay 400 million ryo. The negotiations remained unresolved as Kazuna offered to make Mei Terumi call him Dad.

  • While soaking in a hot spring with Kakashi and Might Guy, Kazuna learned that the Kage Summit was happening that day, not the next afternoon.
  • Kazuna reached the summit a day late and accused the other Kage of arriving before him, then insulted them until they nearly attacked him.
  • Mifune tried to mediate and urged the Kage to prevent war, while Kazuna argued that the demand for Tailed Beasts was only an excuse to suppress Konohagakure.
  • Ōnoki demanded three Tailed Beasts and 100 million ryo from each of the four villages, but Kazuna refused and challenged the Kage to fight.
  • The Raikage moved to end the meeting, but Mifune urged Kazuna to negotiate; Kazuna rejected the demand and told Mei Terumi she would have to call him Dad.

Ch. 233Already Decided

At the Kage Summit, Kazuna secured Kirigakure’s agreement to mobilize troops while the other villages formed an alliance against Konohagakure. The Fourth Shinobi World War began, and Kazuna divided Konohagakure’s forces into four equal fronts.

  • Kazuna provoked the Kage and samurai at the summit, then met privately with Mei Terumi and negotiated Kirigakure’s troop deployments and continued business cooperation.
  • The summit ended without a resolution, and the Kage left while Mifune worried about Konohagakure’s growing power.
  • After leaving the Land of Iron, Kakashi asked to join the battlefield, and Kazuna told him his new eye had belonged to a Konohagakure hero.
  • The four other villages formed an alliance against Konohagakure, and Kazuna denounced their stated reason as bullshit as the Fourth Shinobi World War began.
  • Kazuna sent Jiraiya and Tsunade, Kakashi and Might Guy, and Uchiha Shisui to three fronts with three thousand shinobi each, while he led another three thousand toward Kumogakure.

Ch. 234War Begins

Kazuna launched Konohagakure’s first attack of the Fourth Shinobi World War against Iwagakure, bringing thirty million Explosive Tags and leading the assault himself. Tsunade sent Slug’s clones to carry the tags, but Ōnoki’s Beehives countered with a barrage of Earth Release attacks that inflicted casualties on Konohagakure.

  • Kazuna chose Iwagakure as his first target and ordered Konohagakure’s forces to attack.
  • The Land of Fire’s Daimyo and his advisers decided to pressure Konohagakure by destroying its businesses and deploying Hidden Agents.
  • Ōnoki learned that Uchiha Kazuna was leading the attack and ordered Iwagakure’s Beehives into battle.
  • Kazuna revealed that he had brought thirty million Explosive Tags, and Tsunade summoned Slug to carry them toward Iwagakure.
  • Ōnoki’s Beehives unleashed Earth Release attacks from above and below, striking several Konohagakure ninja.

Ch. 235Pressing the Attack!

Kazuna led Konohagakure’s attack on Iwagakure, using the Three-Tails, Blood Orbs, and Slug clones carrying Explosive Tags to destroy the hives and force Iwagakure’s forces into battle. As Kazuna and Ōnoki began fighting, Konohagakure pressed its advantage, and the chapter ended with Tsunade ordering a full assault as Iwagakure retreated through the hives.

  • After Konohagakure suffered early casualties, Kazuna summoned the Three-Tails and struck the hive with a Tailed Beast Bomb and a Blood Orb, blasting a large hole in it.
  • Kazuna’s Slug reported that more than ninety percent of its Explosive Tag-carrying clones had detonated, and Kazuna ordered Konohagakure’s ninja to charge.
  • Kazuna confronted Ōnoki above the battlefield, and the two began fighting while Konohagakure attacked the Iwagakure ninja emerging from the damaged hives.
  • Konohagakure’s Explosive Tags killed Sei and inflicted heavy casualties on Iwagakure’s forces as Kitsuchi ordered his troops to follow their plan.
  • Jiraiya summoned Gamabunta, who sprayed oil into the hive passages while Jiraiya set them alight, and Tsunade ordered the ninja to attack with every remaining Explosive Tag after learning Iwagakure was retreating from the rear.

Ch. 236Brutal Beyond Belief! (1)

After Konohagakure defeated Iwagakure with a barrage of Explosive Tags, Ōnoki prepared for another battle while Kumogakure moved troops to the border. Kazuna raided Iwagakure’s camp and fought Ōnoki, surviving Dust Release as he deliberately restrained his power and grew stronger from the battlefield.

  • Konohagakure defeated Iwagakure’s force of more than ten thousand ninja, destroying its Beehives and leaving over two thousand dead and many more wounded.
  • Ōnoki ordered Iwagakure to prepare half-finished Beehives and await Han, while warning that Kumogakure needed to pressure Konohagakure.
  • Kumogakure moved eight thousand ninja toward Konohagakure’s border, so Kazuna reassigned Might Guy, Shisui, and Fugaku to that front.
  • Kazuna led two hundred ninja toward Iwagakure’s camp as Jiraiya and Tsunade advanced with Konohagakure’s main force.
  • Kazuna and Ōnoki fought in Iwagakure’s camp, and Ōnoki destroyed Kazuna’s Susanoo and struck him with Dust Release, but Kazuna reappeared unharmed.
  • Kazuna continued fighting without using his full power, absorbing life energy from Iwagakure’s dead through the Divine Tree and strengthening himself.

Ch. 237Too Brutal! (2)

Konoha routed Iwagakure in a surprise assault, and Kazuna stopped Ōnoki from attacking the advancing Konoha forces. After the other villages began mobilizing, Obito confronted Kazuna in his camp and tried to bargain for Akatsuki’s help against Kumogakure.

  • Konoha’s two hundred Jonin scattered through Iwagakure’s camp, using Explosive Tags to kill and rout the defenders.
  • Kazuna pursued Ōnoki with a towering, winged Susanoo and struck him as Ōnoki attempted to attack Konoha’s advancing shinobi.
  • Iwagakure lost nearly six thousand shinobi across two battles, prompting the other villages to make moves while Kazuna adjusted Konoha’s deployments.
  • Obito appeared in Kazuna’s command tent, and Kazuna put on a silver three-eyed mask before allowing him to speak.
  • Obito offered Akatsuki’s help against Kumogakure for five million ryo, but Kazuna refused and hinted that he knew Obito had hidden motives.

Ch. 238Obito Throws a Wrench in the Works!

Kazuna learned that the Land of Fire’s nobles had destroyed his and Konohagakure’s businesses, then ordered Hyōmaru to kill those responsible. As Iwagakure, Kumogakure, and Kirigakure launched attacks and a letter revealed Obito was coordinating against him, Kazuna prepared to fight back and ordered Rasa to make Sunagakure move as well.

  • Obito left Kazuna after their tense cooperation, while Kazuna worried about the cost of his research, Uchiha clan, village development, and a huge Explosive Tag purchase.
  • Facing heavy losses, Ōnoki agreed to Obito’s offer of help against Kazuna, and Obito proposed uniting the other ninja villages.
  • Kazuna learned that soldiers of the Land of Fire had destroyed his and Konohagakure’s businesses, so he ordered Hyōmaru to identify and kill the nobles behind the attack.
  • Reports arrived that Iwagakure and Kumogakure had moved against Konohagakure, while Kirigakure attacked Shisui’s forces and suffered losses.
  • Kazuna received a secret letter revealing Obito’s role in coordinating the attacks, then sent Rasa instructions to make Sunagakure join the fighting.
  • Kazuna told Guy that Konohagakure would respond by beating its enemies.

Ch. 239Kazuna Battles Kumogakure!

Kazuna led Konohagakure’s attack against Kumogakure, where Susanoo, tailed beasts, and Slug clashed with the Raikage’s forces. After Kumogakure’s powerful assault seemed to destroy Kazuna, he revealed that his real body had watched from the sidelines while a Shadow Clone took the hits.

  • Kazuna ordered Konohagakure to attack Kumogakure and advanced with Fugaku, the Three-Tails, and Slug.
  • Fugaku’s Susanoo fought the Eight-Tails while Kazuna broke through Darui’s Barrier with help from the Three-Tails.
  • The Raikage struck Kazuna and shattered his Susanoo, but Kazuna counterattacked with his own techniques and fought back.
  • Darui and the Kumogakure ninja combined their attacks, destroying Kazuna’s Susanoo and believing they had won.
  • Shi warned the Kumogakure ninja too late as Kazuna appeared behind one of them and killed him.
  • Kazuna told the Raikage that a Shadow Clone had taken the attacks while his real body watched from a distance.

Ch. 240Raikage, Keep It Up, Hold On!

Kazuna taunted the Raikage as Kumogakure’s forces crumbled under Konoha’s attacks, the Three-Tails, and Fugaku’s Susanoo. After Mifune intervened and Kazuna revealed his dwindling chakra, he left the Raikage believing he only needed to endure a little longer to win.

  • Kazuna mocked the Raikage over Kumogakure’s casualties and suggested Ōnoki might be attacking Kumogakure instead of Konoha, revealing that he possessed the masked man’s stolen eye.
  • The Three-Tails unleashed a Tailed Beast Bomb, which the Eight-Tails deflected before Fugaku seized it and fought it at close range with Susanoo.
  • The Three-Tails rolled through Kumogakure’s ranks, inflicting devastating casualties as Kazuna taunted the Raikage about his village’s collapse.
  • Mifune appeared beside the Raikage and attacked Kazuna, who countered with massive Fire Release techniques and Susanoo before Mifune cut through one of its arms.
  • The Raikage guessed that Kazuna was running low on chakra, and Kazuna admitted it while urging him to hold on because he would supposedly win if he endured longer.
