The night had grown deep.
The weather was overcast, dark and oppressive. Wind blew across the great river, waves slapping against the shore.
A red point of light suddenly appeared beneath the distant sky, like a sheet of black cloth. It grew brighter and brighter, and only when it drew near could they see that it was a huge, rough ship brimming with the style of demonic beasts. It flew through the air, draped in red lanterns and decorated with red cloth. A large red character for "double happiness" adorned its enormous sail, as though it were part of a wedding procession.
Closer still, laughter and merriment could be heard, mixed with women's shrieks, cries, and pleas for mercy.
In the pitch-black night, a red ship suddenly drifted in, accompanied by noisy music and the heavy scent of wine. The scene was terrifying, bizarre beyond words. All one could say was that the south had become far too chaotic.
The deck was brightly lit.
A banquet was underway aboard the ship. Wine jars rolled everywhere, greasy cooked meat covered the tables, and countless great demons drank and feasted.
A great demon with a flood-dragon head, his mouth dripping with grease, stared at the terrified dancing girls on the deck and chuckled darkly. He grabbed a wine jar and splashed its contents across the floor, soaking one mortal dancing girl and frightening her into stumbling and falling.
"Keep dancing! Hahaha! Now that's what I call dancing!"
The demons burst into laughter again, while lesser demons in the distance joined in with howls. The dancing girls trembled in fear, their bodies covered in wounds, yet they still had to please the demons. To stay alive, they could only swallow humiliation and cling to a wretched existence.
