School was on break, and Bai Yujun inspected the great rivers.
Riding passenger ships, she saw far too much along the way. The river water was murky, strewn with trash and carrying a strange stench. Wastewater poured from both banks alongside all kinds of household garbage. Plastic bags hung from riverside rocks and branches, while sheets of rubbish drifted downstream.
Ships passed through, discharging filth. Oil slicks spread across the water, and after a vessel passed, a faintly warped rainbow sheen remained on the surface...
Dead animal carcasses discarded from who knew where floated downstream, soaked pale and swollen. Their thick stench spread along the river. Bai Yujun hated rotting corpses; perhaps crows and vultures liked them.
"This is killing me. A perfectly good dragon vein is half-dead. When I undertake Flood Dragon's Journey, am I supposed to swim through stinking water?"
By the rail, Bai's brain ached.
There were only two great rivers to choose from. At present, the common point she knew of was that both were polluted to roughly the same degree. Compared to the water quality in her original world, it was simply unbearable to look at. Yet she could not avoid going through it. Somewhere deep down, she felt that after returning to settle her lingering concerns, the crucial key was Flood Dragon's Journey.
"You're forcing me to use my ultimate move, huh!"
It was not as though there was no solution, though the consequences might be rather frightening. She also did not know whether the Special Department could coordinate properly.
If she wanted clean river water, then she would replace all the water from beginning to end. A month of continuous rain should wash it clean, and then she could travel downstream.
She would treat it as washing the bathtub in advance—without adding detergent.
