After resting in Jiangzhou for over a month, she had finally been able to relax.
The outpost in Jiangzhou City stood in an excellent location. Its houses and pavilions were right beside a vast lake within the city, its breadth impossible to measure in li. Green waves rippled across its surface, willow trees lining the shore. When the breeze stirred, their branches drifted like smoke. Scholars and students often gathered by the lake to recite poetry and compose verse, while the flower boats on the opposite shore were where the city's dignitaries lingered. Operas played without end every day, accompanied by bursts of drums and music.
For some reason, the elder had taken away all the senior disciples from the outpost last night. He had looked hurried, as though something urgent had happened.
Apart from a group of temple keepers recruited locally to tend to the incense offerings, only Bai Yujun and two other Foundation Establishment Realm disciples remained at the outpost. They were both Senior Brother Yuxu, and like Bai Yujun, they had returned from missions to rest at the outpost.
Resting was boring. She could not spend every day lying in bed and sleeping.
The two senior brothers had been meditating and cultivating the whole time. Bored out of her mind, Bai Yujun carried her newly bought teapot, brewed two cheap ginseng roots in it, and went to the theater to watch an opera. Do not misunderstand—this era's theaters were not the unhealthy places they became later. They were simply places for singing operas and listening to music. Well... put simply, they were opera houses from modern Earth.
After the flood receded, the common folk could finally look forward to better days. Once there was spare money in their purses, they would come here for some entertainment.
