The Southern Wasteland was mountainous. Tieqiu and Lu Gui chose a narrow valley to set up their defenses.
They gathered some stronger demons and hurriedly piled up a wall that barely looked like a city wall. For the first time, Tieqiu felt that war was exhausting. He had not rested from dawn to dusk, while Lu Gui, who had once had his fortune read, encountered a calamity as well.
Several Demonic Beasts pinned him down and nearly tore his head apart. Fortunately, Tieqiu yanked him back in time.
The Demonic Beasts poured into the Southern Wasteland in scattered groups. Fewer than a thousand reached this valley. Grimy and dust-covered, Tieqiu figured that five hundred well-trained demon soldiers against a thousand disorderly Demonic Beasts ought to stand a chance. If they wiped out this large group, the rest would be easier to handle. A brutal battle of attack and defense unfolded in the valley...
Arrows flew like locusts, their whistling through the air merging into one continuous roar. Spears stood thick as a forest. The five hundred demon soldiers advanced and retreated in orderly formation, working together and covering one another as they left behind a thick carpet of Demonic Beast corpses...
The five hundred Snake Demon Soldiers fought until their eyes went red. Perhaps the unceasing battles had raised their body temperatures, bloodshotting their eyes crimson. Male or female, all fought fiercely without breaking formation. Fortunately, they wore armor and wielded weapons at the Magic Tool level. Even so, demon soldiers were continuously wounded, some so badly they could no longer fight. Tieqiu had to face the enemy's experts while carefully looking after the troops.
The Demonic Beasts had miserably underdeveloped brains, but powerful bodies. At the slightest obstruction, they swarmed the shields and spears like a nest of hornets.
