Background / History
Qin Sang was originally a man from another life who died in a car crash. He awakened in the body of fifteen-year-old Qin Sanwa, the third son of a farming family from Wang Family Village in Ning Country. Qin Sanwa had been captured by bandits while traveling with Shopkeeper Wang, who was killed during the attack; the boy then died of fright in captivity. 1
After two Immortal Masters fought near the bandit convoy and apparently perished, Qin Sang killed surviving bandits and took several items from the bodies, including the Netherworld Scripture, the Yanluo Banner, an ebony sword, and a Seven-Colored Brocade Pouch. The encounter set his pursuit of immortality in motion. 2 3
Rescued from the river by Bai Jianglan, Qin Sang traveled to Three Witches City and later settled at Green Goat Temple under Daoist Jixin. He worked as a scribe and herb grinder, studied under Jixin, trained in martial arts, and translated the Netherworld Scripture. 4 8 9 10
After using the Yanluo Banner and discovering its dangerous need for souls or Yin Sha qi, Qin Sang became increasingly cautious about revealing his abilities. When Jiangshan Tower targeted him over Old Wu's death, he left Green Goat Temple to protect Daoist Jixin and Mingyue from reprisals. 18 20 21
Qin Sang aided Princess Dongyang, joined the Blood-Clad Tower's Military Division, and used his battlefield role to gather intelligence and Soul Pills while pursuing cultivation. His military achievements eventually brought him appointments including Brigade General, Right Commander of Xiaoyong Camp, Left Governor, General Who Assists the State, and Marquis of Jiang Prefecture. 29 40 46 47 48
At the Fengchan ceremony, an immortal master tested Qin Sang and determined that he possessed no Spiritual Root. Qin Sang nonetheless refused to abandon the immortal path. Han Immortal Master later provided him a Jade Disc leading to Youshan Market in Biyun Kingdom, where demonic cultivation sects may offer another path forward. 48 49 50
Appearance
Qin Sang initially occupied the body of an ordinary fifteen-year-old rural boy, but cultivation and constant martial training visibly changed his appearance and bearing within a year. 1 23
- Originally known in Wang Family Village as Qin Sanwa, the third son of a farming household. 1
- Was nineteen years old by his body's age after three and a half years in this world. 40
- His cultivation and martial practice made him sufficiently different in appearance and demeanor that Bai Jianglan did not immediately recognize him. 23
Personality
Qin Sang is intensely survival-oriented. Having died once before, he accepts violence and deception when he believes they are necessary, but he remains disturbed by killing and is wary of becoming a “murderous Demon Lord” for the sake of Soul Pills. 2 20
His overriding ambition is immortality. He repeatedly rejects the security of ordinary wealth, rank, and military glory, continues seeking cultivation despite lacking a Spiritual Root, and is willing to pursue dangerous or morally ambiguous paths if they offer progress. 28 45 48 49
He is also pragmatic and careful with secrets. He conceals the Yanluo Banner's nature, uses battlefield circumstances to hide Yanwang's killings, and adopts a guiding principle of preserving his life over reckless achievement. 26 29
Despite this caution, Qin Sang repays kindness and shows consideration for those under his protection. He joins Princess Dongyang's cause partly to repay Bai Jianglan, leaves Green Goat Temple to prevent its residents being implicated, buries Old Wu respectfully, and arranges future support for his subordinates and Qin Sanwa's family. 20 21 22 45 50

Netherworld Scripture
A cultivation technique Qin Sang recovered from the black-robed Immortal Master's body. Its Qi differs from ordinary Inner Force or True Qi and develops into Spiritual Power. 2 30 38

- Enables Qi externalization and later Spiritual Power-based control of magical artifacts. 18 38

- Could be considered a first-class martial expert even without the Yanluo Banner. 30
Yanluo Banner and Yanwang
The Yanluo Banner is a sinister magical artifact Qin Sang took from the black-robed Immortal Master. Its resident entity, Yanwang, can consume souls and produce Soul Pills. 2 18 20

- Can kill opponents by devouring their souls; Qin Sang often disguises such deaths as physical attacks. 26 34
- Produces Soul Pills that drastically accelerate Netherworld Scripture cultivation. 20
- Requires human souls or Yin Sha qi to produce further Soul Pills, creating Qin Sang's central moral concern. 20
- Yanwang fears the Jade Buddha and obeys Qin Sang after the Buddha protects his soul. 18 40
Leadership and Intelligence Work
Qin Sang serves as a commander and Blood-Clad Tower operative, combining cultivation-enhanced perception with military planning. 29 30
- Gathered intelligence that helped King Dongyang's army break through strategic passes. 30
