Wonderful!
Wang Wu suddenly wanted to burst out laughing. Who could have imagined that this Spider Daughter Red was so potent? He had only taken three big gulps just now.
But judging by the capacity of this Spider Silk wine jar, he could drink at most three more gulps.
What a pity, what a pity.
Wang Wu gazed toward the great tree occupied by the Black Spider clan. There were no fewer than ten jars of Daughter's Red Wine hanging from that tree; he should have yanked down another two jars earlier.
Though he sighed over it, he had no greedy thoughts. Opportunities were opportunities—things that could not be forced. It was best not to provoke a Sprite tribe capable of claiming such a massive tree.
Without further hesitation, he used up the 20 spiritual energy points he had accumulated again, raising his Health Points to 170.
Come to think of it, although he had been wandering these past few days, he had gained far more than if he had stayed put.
"Buzz, buzz, buzz!"
A Green-headed Fly came flying from who knew where. Wang Wu did not think much of it at first, but the fly began circling around him, as if it had caught the scent of the wine.
Wang Wu waved a claw, trying to drive the Green-headed Fly away. Yet the thing was incredibly nimble. Not only did it easily evade him, it seized the chance to land atop the Spider Silk wine jar, where there was a small opening he had just uncorked.
At that sight, Wang Wu shuddered. He could eat grasshoppers, mantises, mice, and spiders without batting an eye, but that did not mean he could calmly eat a Green-headed Fly.
So he panicked and pounced at once. The Green-headed Fly immediately dodged with astonishing agility, easily slipping away. Its speed was even more than a dozen times better than that of flies on Earth.
"Buzz, buzz, buzz!"
This Green-headed Fly was quite arrogant. Rather than flying away, it kept circling and weaving around Wang Wu's body, looking like a little thug saying, I'm just messing with you. What can you do about it?
Fuck this! Fury surged to the heavens in Wang Wu's heart. After chasing it twice more, he suddenly came to his senses. Why am I getting worked up over this piece of shit? I can just drink all the wine!
What, is it going to bite me then?
With that, he immediately picked up the Spider Silk wine jar. Just as he was about to drink to his heart's content, his whole body went numb. In less than half a minute, the jar had become a seething, churning mass of white maggots!
Blech!
Fuck!
Wang Wu jumped in fright, his stomach churning like the sea overturning its waves. He threw away the Spider Silk wine jar and fled without looking back.
No way, that was too fast! The Green-headed Fly had landed on the Spider Silk wine jar for barely a second. Did it lay eggs at the speed of light?
And even if it could lay eggs that quickly, there was no way they could grow so fast within mere seconds. They were nearly a centimeter long already.
And what kind of number was that?
There had to be hundreds, if not thousands.
Blech!
Wang Wu truly fled in rout, abandoning even the Spider Silk wine jar.
He ran more than a hundred meters in one breath, plunged headfirst into a creek, and began scrubbing himself like mad.
But it was not that he was a clean freak. The more he thought about it, the more terrifying it became.
That definitely was not an ordinary Green-headed Fly. It was a Sprite—a thoroughly disgusting Sprite.
Who knew what other tricks it had yet to use? What if it brought some plague?
In short, keeping far away was the right move.
While Wang Wu was still washing himself, he suddenly heard that familiar buzzing again. He looked up and was immediately startled. The Green-headed Fly from before had returned, followed by a huge buzzing cloud of little flies, dark and dense enough to blot out the sky. Was this some kind of absurd breeding speed?
And why were they still relentlessly chasing him?
Did these trash really think he was easy to bully?
No, it was because the scent of Spider Daughter Red wine still lingered on him, and that seemed to be these Green-headed Flies' favorite thing.
As that thought crossed his mind,
Wang Wu dove hard into the water, held his breath, and refused to come back up.
Yet even so, the Green-headed Flies still would not leave. They continued circling endlessly over the water's surface. It was revolting.
Wang Wu suddenly swung his claws, splashing up water, but those Green-headed Flies seemed able to predict his moves in advance. With a whoosh, they perfectly dodged aside. Then, the instant he emerged from the water, they crazily tried to burrow into his nostrils, mouth, ears, and eyes!
Fuck!
Wang Wu was scared half to death.
He hurriedly hid beneath the water again and rubbed himself frantically. Faced with things that could lay eggs at the speed of light, he truly had no answer. What kind of messed-up place was this Cultivation World? How could it have such disgusting creatures?
He really did not want to see a pile of maggots crawling around inside his eyes just a few seconds later!
Fortunately, after holding out underwater for a minute, Wang Wu was certain he had not been hit. But the swarm of Green-headed Flies above the water still circled without end. They were shameless beyond belief.
Just as Wang Wu was at his wit's end, forced into helplessness by these Green-headed Flies, more than a dozen Little Red Birds suddenly swooped down. Like road rollers, they crushed through the swarm of Green-headed Flies.
The leading Green-headed Fly could not even struggle before it was eaten.
The remaining Green-headed Flies scattered in all directions. But they were fast, and the dozen or so Little Red Birds were even faster and more agile. They did not care in the slightest about feints. After swooping back and forth several times, they ate quite a few more.
By the time Wang Wu emerged from the water, the swarm of Green-headed Flies had vanished. The dozen Little Red Birds, meanwhile, had eaten their fill and flown away in great contentment.
This was the importance of the food chain.
Wang Wu thanked them from the bottom of his heart, though those dozen Little Red Birds had not noticed him from beginning to end.
After steadying himself, he ran back to the original patch of grass. The more he thought about it, the more he felt the Spider Silk wine jar was too valuable to abandon. If he took it to the creek and washed it, it could still serve as a piece of puncture-resistant soft armor.
But when he returned, he saw several Black Spiders dragging the Spider Silk wine jar toward the great tree.
"No way!"
Wang Wu felt his balls ache. Had these guys been watching him all along? How had they arrived so promptly?
Unwilling to accept it, he could not help chasing after them.
Yet before he had run more than a few steps, he heard that familiar buzzing. Another Green-headed Fly flew out from within the great tree and lunged viciously at him.
"Fuck? What is this?"
Wang Wu was dumbfounded. Were these Green-headed Flies Fly Martyrs raised by the Black Spiders?
After a moment's hesitation, he still chickened out. It was not worth it.
It was not that he feared the Green-headed Fly. The thing flew too fast, dodged like a beast, and specialized in attacking the vulnerable upper routes—his eyes, nose, mouth, and ears. It would not truly threaten his life, but with that kind of interference, he could forget about catching up and taking back the Spider Silk wine jar.
Seeing him turn and run, the Green-headed Fly chased him for several dozen meters before suddenly turning back and disappearing into the crown of the great tree once more.
It was remarkably obedient, almost like a well-trained dog.
As for those Black Spiders, they had long since disappeared without a trace.
Wang Wu stood there dumbstruck, deeply shaken by the Black Spider clan's reserves.
They could even play it like this!
