Ch. 41Savage Ancient Bear

Wang Wu hid from the Green Wolf and Gray Fox after the Gray Fox detected his month-old droppings and suspected a Savage Ancient Bear was nearby. He survived the Gray Fox’s search by staying motionless in the mud until the fox left, but remained wary of being discovered.

  • The Green Wolf and Gray Fox met in the Flame Scorpion King's territory, shared food and wine, and discussed the Human Race's plans to expand into the Western Wilderness.
  • The Green Wolf invited the Gray Fox to serve under his Great King, and the Gray Fox accepted before noticing bear scent nearby.
  • The Gray Fox found Wang Wu's month-old droppings and used them to bait out a possible Savage Ancient Bear, while the Green Wolf recalled an adult bear pursued by a Human Race cultivator the previous year.
  • Wang Wu realized the Gray Fox was suspicious and stayed hidden without eating or moving for several days as the snow melted.
  • The Gray Fox searched the valley but failed to spot Wang Wu, then retrieved his wine gourd from a Gray Rat's hole and left.

Ch. 42Spring Has Arrived

After enduring more than forty days without food, Wang Wu emerged as spring arrived and began hunting Sprites to recover and grow. He surveyed the valley’s demon hierarchy and surrounding lands while saving Spiritual Qi for his next growth stage.

  • Wang Wu survived his long fast, drank the spring rain, and reasoned that his mother had hidden him from demons seeking his Savage Ancient Bear bloodline.
  • Wang Wu killed five Gray Rat Knights with a pounce and a trace of Ice Spirit Energy, then ate them and returned to hiding.
  • As the valley turned green, Wang Wu hunted nightly, gathering 500 Satiety points and 0.8% to 0.9% Growth Rate each day while reaching 97.5% growth and saving 100 points of Spiritual Qi.
  • Wang Wu pieced together the known demon hierarchy and surrounding geography, including the South Mountain Great King, the North Mountain Great King, and the distant Great Snow Mountain.
  • Wang Wu killed a great serpent with one swipe and fled, continuing to hunt unseen by the Sprites.

Ch. 43Growth Rate 100

After reaching the juvenile stage, Wang Wu unlocked more bloodline talents and upgraded his Stealth, then tested its concealment while hiding among the Sprites. He survived a Scorpion Priest’s fireball attack with minor injuries and remained concealed beneath the cliff.

  • Wang Wu reached 100% Regular Growth Rate, entered the juvenile stage, and saw his attributes and bloodline talents change.
  • Wang Wu realized his Bloodline Evolution might stop at 50% and upgraded Stealth to Level 6, using all 100 points of Spiritual Energy.
  • Wang Wu decided not to upgrade Spiritual Resonance and planned to stay cautious while finding a safer hiding place.
  • Wang Wu concealed himself beneath the cliff as the Sprites gathered and fought near the Flame Scorpion Clan’s territory.
  • After Grasshopper Bandits provoked the Scorpion Priests, the priests fired at the Sprites, and Wang Wu endured a fireball with only minor injuries without breaking Stealth.

Ch. 44Sprites Alliance

Wang Wu provoked the Flame Scorpion Clan to gain spiritual energy, then discovered the valley's Sprite lineages had gathered into an alliance after he sent three Gray Rat Knights to the cliff. The gathering dissolved into chaos when five fire-wreathed wild chickens attacked.

  • Wang Wu climbed the cliff, ate two Scorpion Sentinels and a Fire Scorpion Priest, and endured fireball attacks from the Flame Scorpion King before escaping to the stream.
  • Wang Wu recovered in the stream, then caught three Gray Rat Knights and threw them onto the cliff as compensation for the Flame Scorpion Clan.
  • The next morning, Wang Wu saw the Flame Scorpion Clan and several other Sprite lineages gather beneath the cliff in an apparent alliance.
  • Wang Wu recognized the three battered Gray Rat Knights and worried that his attacks had caused the Sprite lineages to unite.
  • Little Red Birds, the Black Spider Clan, and the Blood Spider Tribe joined the gathering, but five wild chickens attacked and scattered the allied forces.

Ch. 45Iron-Toothed Locust

Wang Wu hid from an enormous swarm of Iron-Toothed Locusts, spending Spiritual Qi to improve his defenses and health as the insects attacked him without breaking his Stealth. Elsewhere, a locust-like Great Demon explained to other Great Demons that Human Race cultivators were expanding toward the Western Wilderness and that he had brought his family to flee.

  • After the Wild Chicken Lineage defeated the Sprite coalition, Wang Wu planned to max out his Stealth Talent and build a cave dwelling before winter.
  • A vast swarm of locusts swept in from the east, and Wang Wu escaped into a rock crevice with Gray Rat Knights and a Little Red Bird.
  • The locusts devoured the Gray Rat Knights and attacked Wang Wu, who spent 20 Spiritual Qi on Defense and 40 on Health Points.
  • Dozens of Iron-Toothed Locusts discovered Wang Wu by biting him, but his level 6 Stealth remained active and his improved Defense negated most of their damage.
  • On South Mountain, a Great Demon wearing a Purple Gold Crown told the gathered Great Demons that Human Race cultivators were expanding into the Western Wilderness and said he had brought his family to flee.

Ch. 46Paralysis Toxin

Wang Wu survived the Iron-Toothed Locust Legion’s passage, then fought and killed a Golden-Winged Iron-Toothed Locust that nearly paralyzed him with its toxin. He discovered that eating the locust granted valuable resources and toxin resistance, upgraded his Self-Healing Talent, and kept eating the corpse.

  • Wang Wu waited for the Iron-Toothed Locust Legion to pass, but a Golden-Winged Iron-Toothed Locust entered his crevice and attacked him.
  • Wang Wu pinned down the Golden-Winged Locust and battered it to death despite its strength and the other locusts’ attacks.
  • Wang Wu ate part of the locust and suffered severe paralysis, then recovered and learned that the toxin granted Paralysis Toxin Resistance along with Spiritual Energy, Satiety, and Growth Rate.
  • Wang Wu spent 100 Spiritual Energy to upgrade his Self-Healing Talent to level 6.
  • Wang Wu ate more of the locust, gained additional rewards and toxin resistance, and recognized the Golden-Winged Locusts’ paralysis toxin as a major threat.

Ch. 47Rascally Rabbit Bandit

Wang Wu raised his Passive Concealment to level 7 and decided to leave the valley after the Iron-Toothed Locusts destroyed its ecosystem. At the stream, he encountered a Rascally Rabbit Bandit and was stunned by its powerful kicks.

  • Wang Wu hid the corpses of the Iron-Toothed Locusts and waited in the valley, which had fallen silent after the locust attack.
  • Wang Wu ate three Iron-Toothed Locusts, then spent 100 Spiritual Qi to raise Passive Concealment from level 6 to level 7.
  • Wang Wu decided to leave the valley and went to the stream, where he entered level 7 Stealth.
  • Wang Wu heard night owls approaching and another creature crossing the stream, then left the water to retrieve his stored food.
  • A Rascally Rabbit Bandit surprised Wang Wu and struck him twice with powerful kicks, stunning him and triggering his Self-Healing Talent.

Ch. 48Rabbit Smells So Good

Wang Wu used Ice Spirit Energy to freeze the stream and defeat the Rabbit Bandit after enduring its relentless attacks. He retrieved most of his energy, then made sure the frozen rabbit was dead and ate its chest.

  • The Rabbit Bandit repeatedly stomped Wang Wu, who used ice armor to survive an attack and avoid being stunned.
  • Wang Wu released Ice Spirit Energy into the stream and trapped himself and the Rabbit Bandit in a ten-meter radius of ice and intense cold.
  • Wang Wu released 26 points of Ice Spirit Energy, overcoming the Rabbit Bandit's ice resistance and freezing it to death.
  • Wang Wu retrieved 21 points of Ice Spirit Energy as the ice broke apart and the Rabbit Bandit fell into the stream.
  • Wang Wu slashed open the Rabbit Bandit's chest to ensure it was dead, then ate some of it.

Ch. 49A Family of Sprites

Wang Wu defeated and ate part of the Rabbit Bandit, then returned to his crevice with the frozen remains. The valley filled with powerful, oddly peaceful Sprites who monopolized the Golden Particles, leaving Wang Wu wary and wondering whether the Great Demons of North Mountain and South Mountain were recruiting troops.

  • Wang Wu ate less than a third of the Rabbit Bandit, gained Spirit Energy and Growth Rate, raised his Danger Sense to Level 6, and brought the frozen carcass back to his crevice.
  • The next morning, Wang Wu sensed that many powerful Sprites had arrived in the valley and chose to stay concealed rather than compete for Golden Particles.
  • Wang Wu discovered nearly fifteen powerful Sprites in the valley, including a Plum Blossom Fawn and a Little Mountain Pig that gathered Golden Particles at extraordinary rates.
  • The powerful Sprites monopolized the Golden Particles, and no Silver Three Minutes followed.
  • Wang Wu watched the Sprites remain peaceful with one another and wondered whether the Great Demons of North Mountain and South Mountain were recruiting troops.

Ch. 50Patrolling Demon Soldiers

After witnessing a distant fireball from the Human Race cultivators’ war, Wang Wu decided he would eventually have to flee but stayed to prepare. The South Mountain Great King’s messenger then ordered the demonfolk not to panic and announced an expanded recruitment for Patrolling Demon Soldiers.

  • Wang Wu spent Spiritual Qi to raise his Health, Strength, and stamina as he prepared for a future migration.
  • A vast fireball lit the eastern night sky, and Wang Wu realized Human Race cultivators had begun opening up the Western Wilderness.
  • Wang Wu decided the war was not something he could join, but postponed fleeing until he was ready.
  • Hundreds of crows and thousands of other birds flew west over the valley, alarming Wang Wu.
  • The Black Giant Eagle and Brown Giant Eagle drove the migrating birds into nearby valleys.
  • A Green Wolf announced the South Mountain Great King’s order to remain calm and opened recruitment for one hundred Patrolling Demon Soldiers, offering each recruit a Fortune Wisdom Heart Pill.

Ch. 51Level 8 Stealth

Wang Wu watched demons recruit powerful sprites for war, then used his stored Spiritual Energy to improve his stamina and raise Passive Concealment to Level 8. The new talent revealed rank-based limits and warned that powerful creatures and Human Realm Cultivators could still detect him.

  • Wang Wu saw the South Mountain Great King expand recruitment, while dozens of powerful sprites volunteered and were taken away with Fortune Wisdom Heart Pills.
  • Wang Wu concluded that the forest’s patrolling demon soldiers would be no match for Human Realm Cultivators and decided to focus on growing stronger.
  • Wang Wu accumulated 200 points of Spiritual Energy and considered upgrading his stamina and concealment.
  • Wang Wu spent 100 Spiritual Energy to raise his stamina to 220 and another 100 to raise Passive Concealment to Level 8.
  • Wang Wu learned that Level 8 concealment allowed tiny movements and fooled most lower-ranked creatures, but not high-ranked beings or Human Realm Cultivators.

Ch. 52Migration Again

Wang Wu tried to increase his Plant Toxin Resistance while monitoring the valley, but a migrating Sprite tribe of enormous Giant Flying Spheres arrived from the east. As the giants descended into separate valleys, Wang Wu realized one would likely settle in his own valley.

  • Wang Wu watched the valley from a cliff, spotted a poisonous weed, and ate it, but his existing Plant Toxin Resistance kept the symptoms mild and yielded no new resistance.
  • Wang Wu saw golden clouds over a distant mountain and worried that the Great Demons' growing forces would fight over dwindling resources.
  • Wang Wu heard the Black Giant Eagle fly toward the forest and wondered whether another migrating Sprite tribe was approaching.
  • Wang Wu saw nine enormous Giant Flying Spheres drifting in from the east and hurried back to his rock crevice for shelter.
  • Wang Wu watched the Giant Flying Spheres descend into separate valleys and realized one would likely land in his valley.

Ch. 53Devil Vine

Wang Wu watched a giant Devil Vine sphere arrive with swarms of flying red ants, which devastated the valley's vegetation before the vine's roots collapsed his hiding place and poisoned him. After enduring paralysis and a vision of life's limits, he regained movement but remained buried and suffocating, with ten minutes to live.

  • Wang Wu saw the giant vine sphere land and send its roots into the ground, then watched flying red ants swarm through the valley and strip away food and vegetation.
  • Wang Wu realized migratory creatures followed a route that seemed to respect the boundaries between great demons' territories.
  • The Devil Vine's roots undermined Wang Wu's hiding place, buried him in rubble, and wrapped him in shoots as he tried to escape.
  • Wang Wu bit the shoots, was poisoned and paralyzed, and was dragged underground by the Devil Vine.
  • Wang Wu's Self-Healing Talent reduced the paralysis and helped him develop resistance to paralysis and plant toxins, but he remained buried and was warned he would suffocate within 600 seconds.

Ch. 54The Kind-Looking Devil Vine

Wang Wu escaped the Devil Vine by clawing his way back to the surface, then hid in a rock crevice until the vines migrated at dawn. He spent the morning eating Devil Vine roots to build toxin resistance, reaching perfect Plant Toxin resistance and six points of Paralysis Toxin resistance.

  • Wang Wu waited for the paralysis to fade, tore free of the Devil Vine’s roots, and dug his way back to the surface.
  • Wang Wu cut off dozens of slender roots, fled from the red ants into a rock crevice, and entered Level 8 Stealth.
  • The Devil Vines withdrew from the area and began migrating at dawn, leaving Wang Wu with the roots he had collected.
  • Wang Wu chewed Devil Vine roots, endured paralysis and corrosive damage, and gained more Paralysis Toxin and Plant Toxin resistance.
  • Wang Wu reached 10 points of Plant Toxin resistance and increased his Paralysis Toxin resistance to 6 points.

Ch. 55Plant Affinity

Wang Wu perfected Plant Toxin Resistance, triggering a bloodline change that let him choose a branch talent. He spent all 50 points of his spiritual energy to extract Plant Affinity, gaining new abilities tied to plants.

  • Wang Wu's perfected Plant Toxin Resistance fused with his other perfected resistances, awakening a bloodline branch talent and raising his Bloodline Evolution to 21%.
  • Wang Wu realized he could extract only one branch talent at a time and chose Plant Toxin Resistance over ice resistance, considering the spring season and his limited Ice Spirit Energy.
  • Wang Wu injected all 50 points of his spiritual energy into the extraction process and endured a violent transformation.
  • Wang Wu's Plant Toxin Resistance disappeared and became Plant Affinity Level 1, which improved his resistance to plant toxins, his concealment among plants, and his ability to help plants grow with spiritual energy.

Ch. 56North Mountain Map

Wang Wu left the ruined valley in search of food and safer ground, heading for North Mountain during Violet Gold Three Minutes. He reached its hostile foothills and hid beneath a boulder, with a powerful Great Mountain Cat watching from above.

  • Wang Wu concealed the remaining Devil Vine roots, then discovered the stream had shifted and drank enough to restore his fullness and activate his Self-Healing Talent.
  • As sunrise approached, Wang Wu chose to leave the valley rather than stay and absorb spiritual energy, and sprinted toward North Mountain.
  • Wang Wu paused during Violet Gold Three Minutes until his stamina recovered, then continued toward North Mountain, whose lush foothills contrasted with the devastated valley.
  • Wang Wu sensed dozens of hostile Sprites and a lethal presence, but used the cultivation window to approach a slope watched by a Great Mountain Cat.
  • Wang Wu recognized the Great Mountain Cat as a possible foe from the previous year and darted beneath a boulder as killing intent gathered around him.

Ch. 57Bear Borrowing Cat's Might

Wang Wu used Level 8 Passive Stealth, Passive Plant Affinity, and a staged scent trail to make the Great Mountain Cat chase him while discouraging other Sprites from approaching. The Great Mountain Cat left for the shaded slope, and Wang Wu ended the chapter hidden beside shrubs on the sunny slope.

  • Wang Wu distracted the watching Sprites with a pebble, moved between boulders, and provoked the Great Mountain Cat to make himself its exclusive prey.
  • Wang Wu ran through the brush, doubled back beneath a boulder, and used the cat's blind spot to conceal his route.
  • After Violet Gold Three Minutes ended, the Great Mountain Cat rushed down, searched the boulder and brush, and found only Wang Wu's dispersed scent.
  • The Great Mountain Cat left the brush and headed toward the shaded slope, causing nearby Sprites to scatter.
  • Wang Wu moved beside a clump of shrubs while the cat's back was turned and entered Level 8 Stealth again.

Ch. 58The Ultimate Lying-Low Contest

Wang Wu remained hidden on North Mountain while the Great Mountain Cat searched for him, waiting for a safe chance to take plants back to his valley. After the Mountain Cat disappeared, Wang Wu concluded that it had begun hiding too, and continued the standoff.

  • Wang Wu chose shrubs, fruit trees, and other plants to transplant into his valley, planning to take shrub branches first.
  • A Silver Fox searched the thicket with a Small Seal but failed to find Wang Wu and told the Great Mountain Cat that the Bear Cub had likely escaped.
  • Wang Wu stayed hidden as the Great Mountain Cat watched the hillside for a full day, then endured three days of rain without moving.
  • After the rain, the Great Mountain Cat vanished, and Wang Wu continued hiding through three more sunny days.
  • Wang Wu decided the Great Mountain Cat was also lying low and prepared to wait it out.

Ch. 59One Mountain Cannot Hold Two Tigers

Wang Wu waited for the Great Mountain Cat to attack the Grey Magpies, then seized his chance to escape with branches he had prepared to take. The Great Mountain Cat fought the advancing Magpie Leader while Wang Wu ran toward the valley, leaving the hillside behind.

  • The Great Mountain Cat stayed hidden for three days while the Grey Magpies took over its territory and the Magpie Leader advanced.
  • Wang Wu watched the Great Mountain Cat approach the ancient tree but saw it wait until morning, when the Magpie Leader began advancing.
  • The Great Mountain Cat burst out and attacked the Magpie Leader, killing more than ten Small Magpies, two Medium Magpies, and one Great Magpie.
  • Wang Wu bit through and gathered vine branches, then cut a branch from a nearby fruit tree and fled toward the valley.
  • The Great Mountain Cat ignored Wang Wu as it continued attacking the advancing Magpie Leader, and the other Sprites let Wang Wu leave their territory.

Ch. 60Golden Three Minutes

Wang Wu returned to the rocky valley, planted vine cuttings, and used Golden Three Minutes to gather spiritual energy before testing his Plant Affinity Talent. He successfully grew the cuttings into shrubs and grafted a fruit tree branch onto one, beginning his effort to build a local ecosystem.

  • Wang Wu escaped North Mountain Root and returned to the rocky crevices, where he planted fifteen vine cuttings and sheltered a fruit tree branch.
  • Wang Wu climbed the cliff for Golden Three Minutes and gained eighty points of spiritual energy alongside Silver Three Minutes.
  • Wang Wu explored the old Sprite kings’ cave, found only Night Cat droppings, and buried them near his planted cuttings as fertilizer.
  • Wang Wu infused the fifteen cuttings with spiritual energy, rapidly growing them into shrubs, then learned further growth depended on soil, roots, and sunlight.
  • Wang Wu grafted a piece of the fruit tree branch onto a shrub sapling and used spiritual energy to make them grow together, producing a green bud.
