Chapter 28: Fairy Sister
"What can I do for you?" An Bulang blinked. "Nothing. I was just passing by."
The old Daoist frowned beneath his white brows. "If you were merely passing by, why did you use a spell to bewitch the Imperial Guards?"
"They blocked my way. If I didn't bewitch them, how was I supposed to get through?" An Bulang said.
The old Daoist's expression turned solemn. "Then, fellow Daoist, what exactly have you come to Tongtian Tower to do?"
"Nothing. I was just passing by," An Bulang said.
The old Daoist: "..."
Could they not have a proper conversation?!
At that moment, An Bulang started walking again.
"Fellow Daoist, please stay. If you continue forward, don't blame this old Daoist for being discourte—" Before the old Daoist could finish, his eyes suddenly turned vacant, and the same dazed expression as the Imperial Guards appeared on his face.
Without slowing, An Bulang stepped past the old Daoist and entered Tongtian Tower.
He could not be bothered to waste words on a minor cultivator at the Profound Body Ninth Layer.
At that moment, at the top floor of Tongtian Tower.
Ji Wuye, dressed in purple Crown Prince robes, sat facing the beautiful Qin Shiyue as they drank tea.
At the side stood an old Daoist with white hair and beard, pouring tea for them with a fawning smile.
"Tomorrow is my royal father's sixtieth birthday celebration. By then, all the civil and military officials will be present, along with all his trusted followers. At that time, I want Azure Kingdom to have only one voice. Those who refuse to submit, those who resist—Daoist Ji, you know what to do, yes?" Ji Wuye said lightly, taking a small sip of tea.
Ji Shouqian, the Director of the Imperial Observatory disguised as an old Daoist, nodded repeatedly. "Rest assured, Your Highness. Anyone who dares step forward and offend Your Highness will suddenly die on the spot for angering the heavens. Even the corpse examiners will be unable to find the cause."
Ji Wuye nodded in satisfaction, then looked at the woman opposite him. "Grand Princess, An Bulang has always been an unpredictable variable. Can you handle him?"
Qin Shiyue lightly raised her teacup with her delicate hand and smiled faintly. "Don't worry. Cheng Yuzi of the Cloud Sword Sect has joined forces with Wu Wanyue, Sect Master of the Incense Burning Sect, and they plan to strike during the birthday celebration. Besides that, if An Bulang disrupts the order of the ceremony, my Soaring Dragon Empire's people will immediately take action and kill him under the banner of helping suppress the unrest!"
"What about the Other Shore Pavilion?" Ji Wuye asked again.
Qin Shiyue smiled. "The Other Shore Pavilion has always kept its operations secret, so I do not know when they will make their move. But one thing is certain: the people they sent are absolutely no simple figures. They are determined to win this operation."
Ji Wuye smiled as well upon hearing that. "I look forward to seeing his despairing, regretful face before he dies."
"Wow, what are you all talking about? You look so happy."
A voice came from the stairs, followed by unhurried footsteps.
A handsome youth appeared before the three of them, a curious and friendly smile still hanging on his face.
"Oh, what a coincidence. So it's you all." An Bulang smiled.
Ji Wuye's hand holding the teacup paused slightly, while Qin Shiyue's small hand trembled, spilling tea from her cup.
"Who are you?!" Ji Shouqian's expression changed. "Someone came in? Why did no one report it to me? There wasn't even the slightest disturbance."
Ji Wuye's face darkened. "An Bulang, what business brings you here?"
Ji Shouqian could not help drawing a deep breath when he heard that. So this youth before him was An Bulang, the person even Ji Wuye feared so greatly?
No wonder he had managed to reach the top of Tongtian Tower without a sound.
"What business?" An Bulang blinked. "No business at all. I was just passing by and looking around."
As he spoke, he had already walked to the railing and leaned against it, looking down over the royal palace below.
Palace after palace lay arranged in layers with an immense sense of order. Their golden glazed tiles shone brilliantly beneath the sunlight, magnificent and grand. From here, the vast royal palace could be taken in at a single glance.
"Not bad. This is a good place." An Bulang nodded.
Qin Shiyue's beautiful eyes turned toward the white-robed figure's back. The corners of her lips lifted as she could not help saying, "Only by standing high can one see far; cultivation is the same. Why must Fellow Daoist An Bulang remain fixated on a mere small kingdom?"
An Bulang pondered for a moment. "The great roc did not wish to speak, and gave the frog only its back."
Bang!!
The cup in Qin Shiyue's hand exploded.
Her silver teeth clenched tightly, and her hand shook without stopping.
Ji Wuye and Ji Shouqian both looked utterly bewildered, unable to understand why Qin Shiyue's reaction was so intense.
They looked at An Bulang, then at Qin Shiyue, and vaguely seemed to understand something.
An Bulang could not be bothered with the people behind him. His gaze landed with great interest on a familiar figure in the royal palace below.
A girl dressed in a light-blue princess gown was striding through the Hundred Flowers Courtyard with the swagger of someone who recognized neither kin nor king.
Several gorgeously dressed, beautiful concubines sat around a table cracking melon seeds and admiring the flowers, while several young princes and princesses played nearby.
Hearing the footsteps, the children turned toward the sound, then froze in shock.
"Is that... Fairy Sister?" a little princess murmured.
Compared to this girl, she felt like an ugly duckling.
The concubines also turned their gazes toward the approaching girl, their eyes widening one after another. Some could not even hold their melon seeds, which dropped straight onto the table.
Whether children or beautiful concubines, everyone was left somewhat dazed by the sight before them.
Then the girl suddenly smiled, blooming like the most beautiful flower.
In that instant of splendor, all the concubines and the flowers competing in beauty throughout the Hundred Flowers Courtyard instantly lost their color.
Which household's fairy had descended to the mortal world?
The fairy suddenly crouched down. Just as everyone wondered why she had done so, they saw her pick up a large pile of stones from the ground.
"Where did these ugly freaks come from? How dare you stare straight at a fairy?!"
The girl shouted sharply and hurled the stones from her hand!!
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
One small stone after another tore through the air, striking each child precisely on the head.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Sharp pain burst from the children's heads, and they all screamed.
The concubines' expressions changed drastically. Yet before they could do anything, they saw stones already flying toward their faces.
Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!
The stones struck the concubines' faces, some breaking their skin and others swelling their cheeks.
"Ugly bitches! What are you looking at?!" The fairy had no grace whatsoever as she cursed loudly.
Both the concubines and the children were dumbfounded.
Where had this hot-tempered fairy come from? Did she not care about her image at all? Just because she was prettier than them, could she do whatever she wanted? Could she bully people like this?
For a time, the Hundred Flowers Courtyard was filled with the concubines' screams and the children's cries.
They shouted for the guards, yet not a single guard rushed over.
The fairy swaggered away just like that—making a stunning entrance and a terrifying exit.
"Her method of revenge is actually so crude and unbearable..." Seeing this, An Bulang could not help laughing happily. "Hahaha! She truly is my disciple, An Bulang's disciple. Well done!"
Ji Yinyin's personality—never cower, just do it—suited his tastes perfectly.
