Sam crouched quietly at the stairwell entrance of a company called Prologue Investment. The impatient look on his face made it obvious that he was waiting for someone.
Last night, he had taken Scrimgeour and the others to Dream Ranch. As expected, that Muggle celebrity did not know Vincent. They had merely exchanged a few words at the MTV Music Video Awards and had never crossed paths again afterward.
Scrimgeour refused to accept it and rushed back to New York, charging straight for Prologue Investment on Wall Street.
But the sun had already set, and the place had long since closed.
So early this morning, the unwilling-to-give-up Scrimgeour dragged Sam back again.
An hour passed. Aside from the occasional argument upstairs, there was no further movement.
"These Brits are way too slow..." Sam tilted his head up at the blue sky and white clouds, feeling that weather this nice should not be wasted waiting around.
He got up and headed straight for Prologue Investment upstairs. Before he could enter, he saw Scrimgeour storm out and slam the door behind him.
Well—judging by that expression, they had definitely come up empty-handed again.
Sam barely held back a laugh. "Director Scrimgeour, did you find anything?"
Scrimgeour took a deep breath, then turned and glared at the door behind him. "No. They do not even know Wayne is the chairman of their own company. They only received orders to send someone to sign a music copyright transfer document with that Muggle celebrity."
Vincent really did leave no loose ends.
Sam gave a light cough. "All right, then where are we going next?"
Scrimgeour's gaze was as sharp as a lion stalking prey. "We will find the person who gave the order. I already got his
