Lynn: I Know This Question! (Seeking Follow-ups)

After rushing through the night, everyone present was exhausted. Once Joanne finished speaking, they all went to rest.

Lynn was no exception. He picked a passable room, left the broken door ajar, and lay down on the dusty wooden bed without a second thought.

During the week since his transmigration, Lynn had been on edge, sleeping with one eye open, fearing that guards would burst in and kill him at any moment. Now, he could finally relax a little.

"Greenriel..."

Lynn murmured about the Land of Wizards that Joanne had mentioned. Unlike Will and the others, who were skeptical, he didn't find it strange that a group of wizards who could use magic would band together, claim a territory, and dedicate themselves to studying magic.

In fact, to him, it seemed perfectly normal... On the other hand, the Holy See, with its faith-based theology, looked decidedly odd.

For Lynn, heading to the Land of Wizards was undoubtedly an excellent choice. A place that revered magic and knowledge would allow him to leverage his strengths, and he wouldn't have to worry about being captured one day.

Within the Secas Empire, which was controlled by the Holy See, he probably wouldn't even find a place to quietly develop his skills and technology.

What if a divine descent happened? Where would he even complain? Even an antimatter weapon might not be enough to deal with it...

After weighing the pros and cons, Lynn temporarily abandoned the idea of going alone, though a sliver of worry lingered in his mind.

He didn't believe the sense of crisis he'd felt in the dense forest was just his imagination.

Joanne, White Dove, Will, Buck, Barton... figures flashed through Lynn's mind.

In the six months he'd been a Wizard Apprentice, his relationships with these people were shallow, and he had no prior grudges with any of them, so personal vendettas could basically be ruled out.

As for who was behind it?

Lynn thought about it and first ruled out Joanne.

This wasn't because he was giving preferential treatment due to the slight goodwill from his original body, but because her suspicion was the lowest.

As the de facto leader of the apprentices and the proposer of the escape plan, if she surrendered, he might as well run for his life.

Next was White Dove. Her ability to control animals was crucial; she was essentially the team's eyes and ears. If such a person switched sides, it would be an absolute nightmare.

The parchment that had previously given him a hint was written by Joanne, and White Dove had delivered it via grey crows. If either of them had a problem, Carl would likely have died before Lynn even transmigrated.

Lynn was hesitant about the remaining three. Buck and Barton were twin brothers, and they could likely cover for each other without Joanne and the others noticing.

At the very least, he knew even less about the taciturn Will, only that he was the scion of a certain Count in the Secas Empire.

Lynn closed his eyes, recalling every detail of his interactions with the Wizard Apprentices. Then he thought of the secret passage in the [Drunkard] tavern, Old Hawke, the Land of Wizards, Lame Laud...

Vaguely, a guess flashed through his mind. Lynn's eyes snapped open, and he sat up in bed, a strange chill creeping up his spine.

Creeeak~

At the same moment, the sound of a door hinge turning echoed, and the ajar door was pushed open.

Already on guard, Lynn instinctively drew the long sword at his waist and slashed towards the door.

Upon seeing who it was, Lynn's movements suddenly stopped. The sharp blade hovered just before the girl's face.

"Joanne?" Lynn sounded somewhat surprised.

The silver-grey haired witch was holding her right hand up to block the blade. It was then that Lynn noticed she was wearing a pure black leather glove on her right hand, etched with numerous complex and mysterious runes.

It looked like some kind of alchemical item.

"Did you have a nightmare?" The silver-grey haired witch frowned slightly, not understanding Lynn's sudden strong reaction. After a pause, she spoke again, "I knocked, but you didn't answer."

Lynn nodded, sheathed his long sword, and asked with confusion, "It's so late, what's wrong?"

"My teacher mentioned before that she'd give it to you once you mastered the one-ring spell [Blade of Ice]." Joanne said dejectedly, taking a two-finger-thick book from her embrace and handing it to Lynn. The cover was scrawled with the words [Basic Magic Compendium] in common tongue.

Lynn curiously took it. The entire book was made of rough papyrus. Flipping to the first page, the first witchcraft recorded was named -- [Magic Missile].

Like [Basic Material Deconstruction], [Magic Missile] was also a special type of Zero-Ring Magic. Its power was considerably weaker than [Blade of Ice] and [Fireball]. Its advantage was that [Magic Missile] was a pure creation of magic power, requiring no pre-prepared spell components and having no upper limit on control.

Theoretically, as long as one had enough magic power, creating hundreds of [Magic Missiles] at once wouldn't be impossible.

Of course, quantity alone was useless. A wizard's focus was limited. It was already the limit for a Wizard Apprentice to simultaneously create and control two or three missiles for an attack, otherwise, it would be easy to get distracted during combat.

However, there wasn't no solution.

Lynn flipped through the pages. The second page of the Basic Magic Compendium depicted numerous curve graphs, with what looked like scribbles of Herlam Formulas below.

After studying them carefully, Lynn roughly understood what they were trying to convey.

To break through the control limit of [Magic Missile], one needed to establish a three-dimensional coordinate system in their mind, centered on themselves, and then pre-set the flight path of the [Magic Missiles].

The flight path could be not only a straight line but also a curve. This meant that a spellcaster could create a large number of [Magic Missiles] and form an overwhelming, unstoppable barrage attack from different directions and angles.

This involved equations for lines and curves in three-dimensional space...

Lynn stroked his chin. This problem didn't seem too difficult...

Since [Magic Missile] was a pure creation of magic power, it was minimally affected by gravity. One only needed to consider inertia and wind speed.

Seeing Lynn staring intently at the pages with interest, Joanne couldn't help but remind him, "This is a magic formula created by Great Wizard Herlam. It can further enhance the power of [Magic Missile], but it's still too difficult for us right now. You'd best not waste too much energy on it."

"I'll be careful." Lynn glanced over it a few more times, confirming his understanding was accurate, then closed the page and replied casually.

Joanne saw Lynn's perfunctory attitude and shook her head helplessly. When she first started learning magic, she was just like Lynn, enjoying studying these complex formulas, only realizing her limitations after hitting a wall...
