Hope stopped when she saw Aaron. "Why are you here?"
"I'm looking for someone." Aaron glanced at the compass needle, which had stopped moving, and answered succinctly, "Go about your business. I won't disturb you."
Hope nodded slightly and continued forward.
This might have been nothing more than a minor interruption, but it didn't matter. She was only here to complete a deal. Everything else had nothing to do with her.
"Susan, welcome to Oui."
"Sonny." Hope smiled as she set her handbag on the dining table, acting very familiar with him.
"Oui means yes in French. Yes to farm-fresh ingredients, yes to locally sourced food, and yes to sustainable production."
As he spoke, one of his men opened the handbag on the table and confirmed that the amount was correct.
"Then I hope the answer to 'Did you get the parts I ordered?' is also yes."
Sonny laughed. "I've always liked your sense of humor, Susan."
"Have a seat."
"No, thank you."
"Who's that?" Scott asked curiously from the car.
"Sonny Burch, a black-market tech smuggler. He got us the materials we need to build the tunnel."
Scott didn't think much of it and reached toward the small metal box on the table. "Can I have one—"
Hank slapped his hand away. "No."
"I have a special friend at the Federal Bureau of Investigation," Sonny said. "I say 'special' because he tells me things I didn't previously know."
"For instance, your name isn't Susan. It's Hope Van Dyne, and your accomplice is your father, Hank Pym."
As soon as he finished speaking, one of his bodyguards pulled out a chair, gesturing for Hope to sit down.
"This is bad, Hank," Scott said.
"You don't say."
"We need help. Call Gaius."
"I'm already calling him." Hank hurriedly dialed
