Thanos looked at Carol, his expression utterly calm.
He had long known that this woman would be his greatest obstacle to obtaining the Mind and Time Infinity Stones. As for everyone else...
Aside from a select few, the rest were merely cannon fodder.
"You know me?" Carol asked in surprise.
"This is our first meeting," Thanos said bluntly. "But I think we have acquaintances in common, such as... Gaius."
"What?" Tony's eyes widened in shock. "Who did you say?"
"Aaron Gaius."
Tony: ...
"Never heard of him," Carol said nonchalantly.
"Then I'm relieved." Thanos clenched his left fist. The Power Stone on his index finger flared as he unleashed a purple energy shockwave.
Carol charged straight into it, forcibly tearing through the purple wave of energy.
Thanos watched in disbelief as she closed in. Caught off guard, he was sent flying by an uppercut.
Carol pressed her advantage, using her overwhelming strength to suppress Thanos mercilessly. A flurry of blows left Thanos questioning his very existence.
On the Helicarrier, Nick Fury finally let out the breath he had been holding when he saw this.
"Fury, you..." Hill looked at him with mixed feelings. "You really kept her hidden well!"
"When the Chitauri army came, you didn't bring her out. When Ultron destroyed Sokovia, you didn't bring her out. Even when the gates of Hell opened, you still didn't bring her out..."
"None of those situations was anywhere near as dangerous as this one," Nick Fury said pensively. "If those politicians and ambitious men knew there was such a powerful superhero standing with humanity, what would they think?
"She's my friend, not my subordinate. I won't control her, and I can't control her. But others wouldn't see it that way."
Hill hesitated, then finally sighed helplessly. "No wonder you're
