The motorcycle tore through the clouds, racing across the sky.
Aaron had packed every tool that might be useful and stopped in front of the Cullen family's detached villa.
Jacob the werewolf had come with him.
"Why are you here?" Jacob frowned.
"Alice asked me to come. What about you?"
"Charlie said Bella was in some kind of trouble. I... hurried over to ask."
Aaron rolled his eyes speechlessly.
You stayed far away when Bella got married, but you care this much now that she's pregnant. It'd be easy to get the wrong idea!
Aaron and Jacob walked toward the villa together. Carlisle opened the door and led them inside.
"Hello, Jacob.
Hello, Aaron."
"Listen, tell me the truth." Jacob got straight to the point, but before he could ask anything, Bella's weak voice reached his ears.
"Abu, is that you?"
"She's here?"
"They came back two weeks ago," Carlisle said gravely.
Jacob immediately headed for the second floor. Aaron looked at Carlisle. "He doesn't know yet?"
"We didn't tell him. The fewer people who know Bella is pregnant, the better.
Neither vampires nor werewolves would allow a vampire child to be born."
"I don't know much about this, so I won't speak carelessly."
"Mr. Gaius, Bella, she..." Carlisle hesitated.
"Until I know whether the problem can be solved, I can only say I'll do my best," Aaron said bluntly. Then he changed the subject. "But I do have some confidence in my medical skills."
Upstairs, Rosalie stood in front of Bella while the other Cullens were spread out around the room.
Seeing half of that familiar yet haggard face behind Rosalie, Jacob unconsciously took a step forward.
"I'm glad you came."
Jacob gave her an expressionless glance and kept walking.
"That's close enough."
"What's your problem?"
"Rosalie, it's fine,"
