Bucky recited the three verses with an odd expression. For someone who had never been exposed to mysticism, this was truly making things difficult for him.
"Not bad!" Aaron said somewhat against his conscience. "But it'd be best if you showed a little more devotion when reciting them. Also, keep your identity secret. Don't let anyone else know you're one of mine. My position in this universe is rather awkward, after all."
"I understand."
"One more thing. Every three months, I'll gather all my followers for a meeting to check on their progress in digesting their potions.
"The next meeting will be..." Aaron pondered for a moment, then shot Jane a look.
Jane immediately understood and spoke up. "Mid-April."
"Right, mid-April, at midnight.
"Remember to go to sleep on time, because I pull people in through dreams.
"You'll get to meet the others then, and introduce yourself while you're at it."
"Uh... got it."
"One more thing. Watch how you address me when there are outsiders around."
Bucky raised an eyebrow and tentatively asked, "Boss?"
"That sounds so distant! Just call me Aaron."
"But when there aren't any outsiders around..."
"Master." Jane cooperatively bowed to Aaron without the slightest psychological burden.
Bucky's face darkened. "Is that appropriate?"
"No pressure, no pressure." Aaron waved dismissively. "Compared to a certain queen who makes people kneel at every turn, I'm already being extremely generous.
"How about this? Like everyone else, when there are no outsiders around, just call me Boss."
Bucky relaxed slightly. That form of address was barely acceptable.
"Call Steve Rogers and explain your current situation. Then you can report to S.H.I.E.L.D.
"Trust me, that old scheming bastard Nick Fury will definitely arrange everything for you." Aaron
