"Superpowered individuals are emerging one after another in this world, while a wizard who cannot use magic is like a cavalryman without a warhorse—their combat power is greatly diminished.
"Even if I gave myself the identities of a Regenerator and an alchemist, it only allowed me to reasonably use physical strength and alchemical tools. That could solve only minor troubles.
"But major troubles cannot be solved through physical strength and alchemical tools alone. Magneto, Apocalypse, and the many demon gods lurking in the darkness, for example.
"So I need an agent—someone who can use magic and protect me to a certain extent.
"I originally planned to choose one from among my followers, but you appeared in my sight at just the right time, and your ability barely met my requirements. So... you became my follower."
Rogue nodded as if she understood, though a question surfaced in her heart. "I can't help you with anything right now."
"I don't need your help right now." Aaron waved a hand. "According to the contract, I won't assign you tasks beyond your capabilities.
"So your primary task is to stay obediently at Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters. Eat, drink, and play as you should every day, but don't slack off in your studies."
"It's that simple?" Rogue asked in surprise.
"When I need you, you must answer my call at any time."
"Like an undercover agent in a movie?"
"You can't put it that way. Right now, you're just a rookie." Aaron was exceptionally blunt. "But I'll cultivate your abilities too and teach you magic."
At those words, Rogue became excited at once. The surprise had come so suddenly that it caught her completely off guard!
Magic! No one could be uninterested in magic.
"When will you teach me?"
"Whenever you sleep at night."
