Outside Tingen, a house with a emerald lawn.
It had a garden that withered in early September and a dark red chimney.
Behind the bedroom window of this house sat a desk, upon which lay an ordinary notebook.
A charred, withered, and foul-smelling incomplete arm furiously tore apart the notebook. Among the scattered pages, line after line of new text told the source of its rage—
"Poor Ince Zangwill, his 'perfect' plan has endured too many variables, forcing him to personally intervene just to retrieve Saint Selena's long-coveted ashes."
"Although Blackthorn Security Company's defenses were reduced to only three Extraordinarys, out of caution towards Destiny, Ince Zangwill, upon breaking into Blackthorn Security Company, first killed Klein Moretti, the one who repeatedly caused variables in his plan. However, two high-level Talismans, which appeared for unknown reasons, still gave him enough of a 'surprise.' The Talismans, possessing power close to that of a Demigod, after evaporating all the spirit bodies he controlled, still nearly killed him on the spot."
"Fortunately, these two Sun Domain Talismans also shattered Selena's Night Domain, which was constructed from her ashes. Amidst the riot of extraordinary items behind the Channese Gate, he successfully seized Selena's ashes and, through a ritual set up with the Death God Descendant characteristic, forcibly advanced to Sequence IV, the Night Watcher, thereby gaining Divinity and becoming a powerful being half-god, half-human."
"However, completing the promotion in a severely injured state caused irreversible damage to Ince Zangwill. In such a state, can he evade the pursuit and encirclement of all Extraordinarys in Tingen?"
"Ince Zangwill did not fail; he did obtain what he desired, but was it all worth it?"
In the Raphael Cemetery under the night sky, before a newly erected tombstone, the recently sealed stone slab of the grave pit was overturned, and a charred arm emerged from the soil.
Whoosh!
The stone slab was pushed aside, the coffin lid was pushed open, and a charred corpse dressed in formal wear climbed out of the coffin. The high-temperature carbonized flesh and blood was rapidly wriggling and regenerating, but the sight became increasingly unsettling.
"Hiss—being burned to death is indeed a very painful way to die..."
The disfigured facial features contorted into a hideous expression that could scare away even spirit bodies, but soon, new skin slowly crawled onto the terrifying face.
"Did Ince Zangwill die?" Klein's memory was still stuck in the moment he was pierced through the chest with a single blow, and instinctively uttered the activation phrase for the Sun Talisman.
He forcefully stood up, tidied his belongings slightly, and found that he only had a brass whistle and a long formal suit, which he wondered if it was specifically bought for his burial.
"Benson and Melissa are really too thrifty!" Klein sighed, stood up, and began searching the cemetery. One, two... there weren't many new graves in the cemetery, but fortunately, he didn't see any familiar names on the tombstones.
"Good, it seems Leonard and Lowell should be fine... and Captain and the others also didn't have any accidents." Klein breathed a slight sigh of relief. Seeing his body gradually recover to a presentable state, he immediately left the cemetery. He was eager to know if the person who killed him had indeed died in the Sun Talisman.
"Meow!"
In a mansion in Backlund's west district, Sno, who was typing, suddenly heard Lily let out a piercing cry. He immediately turned his head, only to find a lump of flesh wriggling in a bizarre manner in the shadows of a corner of the room.
"Quiet." Sno gently soothed Lily, but his attention remained focused on the piece of flesh before him. Only when it reformed into a pale-faced but exceptionally handsome man did he slightly relax and respectfully place one hand over his chest, saying, "Mr. A, you're back."
"Mhm." Mr. A's tone carried suppressed anger and madness, but he still suppressed his overwhelming rage and commanded, "I need to stay here with you for a while. Just maintain your usual state."
"Alright, I'll prepare some food for you." Sno didn't dare to ask about the Evil God Progeny's condition, given Mr. A's current appearance, he likely was still severely injured himself.
"No need," Mr. A stopped Sno and said seriously, "That Con Sman named Lanclus has already arrived in Backlund. He carries My Lord's Divinity and is a living vessel for My Lord's descent. Find him, but don't let him discover you."
"Our strength in Backlund has suffered significant losses, and the manpower we can mobilize is probably not much." Sno stated the Aurora Society's predicament as tactfully as possible, but Mr. A didn't seem to care.
"There are as many lambs at the bottom as you want, as long as I recover..."
Instantly, Sno felt a prickling sensation on his back. He was certain that Mr. A's words were a test, but he didn't show any hostility, maintaining a respectful expression.
Mr. A's brief silence didn't continue; it was as if he had merely paused to take a breath before continuing, asking, "How is your digestion of the Secret Speaker Potion?"
Sno easily understood his intention. He immediately drew the Inverse Cross pattern, with the longer part above and the shorter part below, on his chest and respectfully replied, "By the Lord's grace, half a month ago, I have completely digested it."
"Very good, take me to your basement. I'll prepare the Attendant of Mysteries Potion for you."
As Mr. A spoke, he took out a piece of ear-shaped flesh from his own body. This made Sno feel quite disgusted, but considering Mr. A's dangerousness, he suppressed the urge to retch and led Mr. A, who was still severely injured but still looking out for his subordinate's welfare, to the basement. Then, he watched Mr. A skillfully select the auxiliary materials from the various plant powders. As for why Mr. A was so familiar with his basement...
It was because his previous potion was also prepared by Mr. A here.
"Drink this, and you will be able to directly hear the Lord's gospel."
More than ten minutes later, Mr. A, without even changing his clothes and only wearing an outer garment made of flesh and blood, completed a potion emitting a faint purple hue. In a tone similar to that of over a month ago, he pushed it towards Sno.
Looking at this potion, Sno suspected whether Mr. A had truly followed the potion recipe for its preparation. However, even a severely injured Mr. A was by no means someone a mere Sequence IX Grand Perfection like himself could deal with. He picked up the flask, looked at the pale purple viscous liquid inside, which seemed to churn with countless cochlea-like bubbles, and swallowed it in one gulp.
An indescribable feeling of nausea slid down his throat into his stomach, and then began to expand continuously, as if it would completely inflate Sno's body.
Sno felt as if every nerve in his body had turned into a branding iron. The intense burning pain almost made him cry out.
He forcibly entered a semi-meditative state to gather his spirituality, but at this very moment, an indescribable voice suddenly exploded in his mind.
Undoubtedly, it was the whisper of the True Creator, but at the same time, a pre-arranged sentence also surfaced—
"The whisper of Mr. Fool is the whisper of a hidden existence; the whisper of the True Creator is also the whisper of a hidden existence. I listen to Mr. Fool's whispers without being contaminated, therefore, I will not be contaminated by listening to the True Creator's whispers!"
The layered murmurs of "White Horse is Not a Horse" transformed into a filter, sifting through the True Creator's whispers layer by layer. In the end, only a voice, like a passerby's soft greeting, was transmitted into his spirit body. And he finally captured a small segment of it relatively clearly, as if it were saying—
"Suka Bulie!"
ps1: I didn't detail the battle where Ince Zangwill forced his way through the Channese Gate because there really wasn't much to write about. A Sequence V with a Level 0 Sealed Artifact killing four low-sequence Extraordinarys (including the gate guards) was a complete stomp. It wasn't even possible to write it with a sense of tragedy, because the gap between Sequence VIII and Sequence V was so large that they couldn't even detect Ince's actions. If I were to write it, it would be Ince attacking, the Night Watcher dying, and even Klein being able to activate the Talisman with a death curse was the result of 0-08 trying to trick and kill Ince.
ps2: Regarding whether Sno's strange abilities would arouse Mr. A's suspicion, the answer is no.
The reason is simple: Secret Speakers and Attendants of Mysteries are inherently the most complex and elusive among all low sequences.
Because the extraordinary abilities they can obtain depend entirely on what the True Creator raps about, any ability that can be linked to the True Creator can be used.
For instance, Sno controlling cats could be extended to the authority of "the fallen nature of all living beings." Hiding himself and misleading others could similarly be connected to the authority of "the Sovereign behind the veil of shadows." Even if he gained an ability similar to biological alchemy, it could be attributed to the creative authority of "the Lord who creates all."
Furthermore, if the True Creator were to rap about good luck one day, you could claim to have obtained authority related to luck.
Therefore, as long as Sno doesn't use abilities clearly belonging to other pathways, such as Sun or Storm, Mr. A won't be suspicious. He'll only envy Sno for being able to hear the True Creator's rare playlist.
